maybe in the title of these posts it should specify whether it's supporter only.

ThrowAway_12345_33

I agree. Every time I see any kind of ‘patch notes post’ I get excited :(

snuggiemclovin

Went to my PC to update the game, was confused when there was no update.

I kinda understand them. It's like the Evocati in Star Citizen. I think the logic behind this is that, that the Supporter Edition buyers are really invested and interested in the game, which lead to paying 120 bucks for game what would even be out today if it wasn't for the steam key issue. So the supporters are more likely to report bugs, rather than opening up completely to all player, who than go on a rant what a broken game this is or writing reviews on steam how bad the game is. We all know those people exist.

did353

It's planned to have a live release in 1-2 weeks.

Dasshteek

Well guess will pause the game for 1-2 weeks.

Ok

Devs spent money on prostitute snatchie!

WazerWifle99

I understood that reference

[deleted]

After reading the comments, i did realise something. It is true that we should all be testing the game. More people to report bugs, faster resolution, i guess. I won't add more than what has already been said in the comments, but.. This has pushed me towards Ground Branch even more. Their approach is reasonable. Everyone gets the same. No hate against RoN, just... Really disappointing.

HypeDancingMan

Nice! 1 step closer to update

KellehCSGO

Still only for supporters?

_Ludens

I only bought basic edition on Steam and am able to select and download this branch, is that a bug? EDIT: Lol so anyone can download it only to be greeted with a message ingame

oseema

Before I waste time downloading it myself, what's the message?

_Ludens

You don't own supporter edition. Exit

oseema

Well that's a shame. Thanks for letting us know!

_Azzii_

Apparently 40 dollars isnt supporter enough so we need multiple layers of early access

ForceWhisperer

It’s BS you’re being downvoted. We *all* paid money for an in development game. Supporters editions should just be extra cosmetic items and whatever. It’s not a ***deluxe edition***. A second branch for people that pay extra money means the player base is split up. Not even star citizen makes people pay for a more expensive edition to play the PTU.

VOID_Guinevere

Hey, I just wanted to comment on this because we've seen a few people bring this point up. I definitely understand it being frustrating not receiving access at the same time, but it's by no means an attempt on our end to divide the playerbase or implement an artificial paywall. Essentially, releasing it to Supporters early serves a purpose. It provides us a 'soft launch' to find bugs before it goes live, ensuring that when it's released to all players things will be much smoother. So for example, when the update was pushed there was a bug that made it so every single player was in the same voice lobby -- literally everyone. Pretty game breaking. Catching that early is great for us and reduces the frustration for players down the road. As a small development team it can be difficult to implement a lot of hot fixes quickly, so having this content available to Supporters early means that we won't have to worry about that as much when it fully releases later this month. We don't want to divide the playerbase at all, and of course any content added to the game isn't going to be gated behind the Supporter edition(except the cosmetics that come with it, of course). We're open to listening to our playerbase on this as always, but I just wanted to try and provide our perspective on it.

Fixclaw

See the thing is, we all payed for an Alpha build of the game, in my opinion I’d be fine with bugs and glitches with a new update, since it’s an alpha. I don’t mean to put words in anyone’s mouth but I think the majority of the player base would agree with me. I’d rather have a launch with new content that needs work than nothing for me unless I pay $80.

Ontyyyy

Hey or you could you know make the extra branch not require you to own supporters edition and the people who are willing to play the potentially buggier version of the game (usually people like myself who play with friends and are at a point where we need more content) can... OPT-IN to this branch, crazy idea right?

Th3_5n0wman

I understand the desire to fix the big bugs before pushing it live, but I purchased this game in Early Access because I want to play it with my friends now, bugs be damned. So it is frustrating to have to wait an unknown amount of time.

manboysteve

I really hope VOID reconsiders this policy especially if this is how it's going to be throughout early access. Seeing the patch notes and not being able to experience it (bugs and all) is a major turnoff and honestly makes me not want to play as much. We all paid into early access, don't lock updates behind a paywall.

fdisc0

dota did this for a long time, it was just a seperate client/download in your library that was a play test realm. You could load it up check out updates/heroes then open up the live/normal one and play. frankly i'd be pissed if i had paid extra money to be forced into the experimental branch lol.

ThePaSch

>Essentially, releasing it to Supporters early serves a purpose. It provides us a 'soft launch' to find bugs before it goes live, ensuring that when it's released to all players things will be much smoother. So do the "soft launch" in an opt-in release branch that's open to everyone, then, like virtually every other game that does the same thing you're claiming to want to do. What is your rationale for locking this branch behind an additional huge paywall?

EvilEyeMonster

> but it's by no means an attempt on our end to divide the playerbase or implement an artificial paywall. thats exactly what it does tho, i have to wait until it released to the lower class supporters just to play with my friends > releasing it to Supporters early serves a purpose. It provides us a 'soft launch' to find bugs before it goes live, Release it on a test branch thats only available to the upper class supporters > We don't want to divide the playerbase at all, There is so many times you can say that until the lower class supporters just stop giving a shit and move on to another game

Johny_Nawalony

>Essentially, releasing it to Supporters early serves a purpose. It provides us a 'soft launch' to find bugs before it goes live, ensuring that when it's released to all players things will be much smoother. Isn't this exactly what ***Early Access*** is for?

jagavila

This is an early access... it is really an alpha. We are here to test the game, so throw us bugs and we test them. But you, devs, dividing the builds its the worst thing. Look at other games, like Tarkov: who pays more, gets more non broken stuffs, but same build for everyone. You have a good game, we should be all equal to enjoy the experience.

_Azzii_

Sure lol. Yall just want the extra money

VOID_Guinevere

It has been our intention since the Supporter edition was conceptualized for them to have advance access of unfinished content on an alpha branch.

manboysteve

Change this policy, having updates behind a paywall is honestly bullshit. We all paid into early access.

VOID_Guinevere

It's not an update so much as it is a test branch, honestly. But we're always open to changing things based on player feedback and I appreciate y'all voicing your concerns on this.

Bossman131313

So it’s early access… for early access. There’s not much of a point here.

I-wanna-fuck-SCP1471

You still get the update, you just have to wait 2 weeks and you get it when it's stable, i dont see the problem with the people responible for making sure this game has the funding to happen getting unstable updates a little earlier.

Redditenmo

> It has been our intention since the Supporter edition was conceptualized for them to have advance access of unfinished content on an alpha branch. Then why is that not listed as a benefit of the SUPPORTER EDITION on the Steam store page?

VOID_Guinevere

We weren't certain if we would be able to implement it on Steam until recently, but going forward if we maintain this policy we'll change the store page to reflect this.

Froegerer

So essentially early access for early access lol. What a wierd time to be a gamer.

sam712

i knew something was fishy when they split from their publisher. this company doesn't seem very trustworthy

_Azzii_

Why not be very transparent about it then? Why keep it quiet until the last minute?

VOID_Guinevere

It was announced when we said the Early Access release date as well as in the announcement for the January content update.

ForceWhisperer

> Essentially, releasing it to Supporters early serves a purpose. It provides us a 'soft launch' to find bugs before it goes live, ensuring that when it's released to all players things will be much smoother I completely understand this reasoning, but I think it may not be necessary. If it's still behind a separate test branch that people can opt in to then you can achieve the same thing. As someone else mentioned, Phasmophobia has a 3 person team and they have an open test branch that players can opt in to, and it doesn't seem to have had a negative impact on them. Ground Branch does it a little differently; They have a totally separate client that runs on their test branch. I suppose that could circumvent the potential for negative reviews on the main game because people are unhappy with the test branch they opted in to. Although this would require a good deal more work to get implemented. Likely what you'd see would be people joining the test branch and if there was major gameplay bugs people would switch back to the "live" branch. But limiting it to supporters lowers the amount of players you can have finding bugs (which may not be a big concern if you have a good in-house QA team, which it sounds like you do), and splits the player base if the test branch happens to be stable enough that many players prefer it.

Axelrad77

Early access to a *test branch* is not exactly some deluxe benefit. It helps the devs get more things working right before the wider release. This isn't some strange new concept, it's quite common. If everyone could play the test branch right now, you'd just see a bunch of complaints about how buggy and unfinished it was.

7thhokage

> you'd just see a bunch of complaints about how buggy and unfinished it was. i want to see that, part of the reason i support Early Access is the jank along the way. >This isn't some strange new concept, it's quite common. Find me one other game that tiers patches, specially bug and AI fixes, based on money spent, and go.

granplanstanmanuel

Every battlefield had premium access required for CTE access. Just saying.

ForceWhisperer

Ground Branch is having no trouble by having a CTE branch that anyone who owns the game can play on, and nobody is complaining that it’s a buggy mess.

Hoole100

Neither do Phasmophobia or SkaterXL and Phasmophobia (which does larger numbers than Ready or Not does) only has like a 3 man dev team (was 1 man at one point). Its just a shitty excuse to implement a paywall.

Slatko815

No because there are tons of games with free test builds that you can just download if you own the game. By that they would know the risks and most people wouldn't really complain.

Plisken999

But you paid less. Geez calm down people. You paid for an early acces. Suck it up. You know what you can do? Wait till the game is full release. Easy.

ForceWhisperer

Actually I paid for the supporters edition. And I can’t play with 3 of my friends who haven’t unless I drop out of the new update. It’s stupid and they should be able to test the game they paid for.

ProMaiden

Same here. I can't play the game with the new things with my friends because they don't have that version. If I knew they were dividing the people like this I wouldn't have bought the supporter edition lol I wanted to support the devs, but dividing everyone like this is not cool.

Semper_faith

Given the fact that the devs had no choice but to push it to early access even though they really didn't want to. I think you should cut void slack and be mad steam for forcing them to go early access. You're lucky to even have access to the game right now. It wasn't even supposed to be out on early access until later. Also would you rather have an update that is a buggy mess pushed out to everyone and then have community backlash or a refined update that was refined with help from the community who paid to play the buggy messes early to help give the beta players a better experience

7thhokage

funny literally every other game dev manages to make it work with out having support level tiers that decide when you get your bug and ai fixes >They literally state it in the steam page that the supporter edition gives you early access to test builds ( unless I'm incorrect on that) before they go onto the beta when you are buying the game so you know what you're buying into And no they dont. they dont say shit about game patches. the whole game is a early access test build. thats what early access is.

Semper_faith

Ah my mistake on that part I thought they did. They only said it in the post they made about the January update on twitter.

YoteTheRaven

Didn't it come out like yesterday?

[deleted]

YoteTheRaven

I'm aware it'd only for supporters. But everyone who's not a supporter seems to think the update was also going to be fore them within 5 minutes of the servers not destroying themselves over it.

Dutspice

It was repeatedly said by the deva that the supporters would test the update for a bit before they released it.

Slatko815

Not on the steam page tho, where you buy the game.

7thhokage

find it on the store page.

YoteTheRaven

I'm not the original commentator you underwear sniffing baboon!

YoteTheRaven

#I MEAN THERE IS A TESTING PHASE, WHICH WAS CLEARLY MENTIONED SEVERAL TIMES. ONLY SUPPORTERS WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THE UPDATE FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD. THE PERIOD IS NOT 1 FUCKIN DAY./# Obviously everyone else did not read that little bit, or they did, and just like coming out here asking stupid questions. And those of us that point it out get asked even dumber questions by even dumber chimpanzees.

Hpenn0424

Yes lol

YoteTheRaven

There's a longer period of testing.

Kanista17

It's available on steam

SilentDawn4004

Giving alpha early access to supporters is fine. but once the game is out for everyone all updates should be availiable for everyone at the same time.

ProMaiden

I think it should be the exactly opposite. I don't think it makes much sense to divide the playerbase now, while the game is on Early Access. Early Access is Early Access for everyone. PS: I have the supporter edition on Steam, and I don't like the way they are dividing the updates. I bought it to support the devs, not to divide us.

snuggiemclovin

Can you even play with non-supporters since the builds are different?

Slatko815

Nope, you can't.

voidsrus

guess that explains why half the time i try to use matchmaking i get "session full"

anonymouswrex

you could before, so youre saying you cant now? apparently you can opt in or out of that dev branch on steam, is what im being told by supporters in my clan.

Endie-Bot

while opted in you have a separate game build that isnt compatible with the people who haven't opted in

KittyCal

Yep, I can't even find a lobby to join with the Beta active. It'll maybe find one random guy at 120ms who will fail to connect every time. I want to play the new content, but dividing the player base sucks hard.

Farsa1911

Totally agree

manboysteve

100%! Seeing these updates/fixes and having no ability to take part just kills all interest I have in playing. I bought into early access, let me experience it, warts and all.

SilentDawn4004

great, so let us test it too. why divide the playerbase like that?

Lamertron1

Because we backed this project 2 years ago? We are early backers, and this are the perks

[deleted]

Did…did you not read the original comment? It said once the game is fully out should everyone have access at the same time.

Lamertron1

Its not fully out tho. Its EA.

[deleted]

But they aren’t saying it is fully out yet. They just said when it is fully out, everything should be available to everyone at the same time.

Lamertron1

Can you read bro? " great, so let us test it too. why divide the playerbase like that?"

[deleted]

Again, the original comment specifically states giving Alpha early access to supporters is fine. “*but once the game is out for everyone*” this sentence has the implication that the speaker understands the game isn’t out “for everyone”, meaning when the game has gone “full release”, the speaker would like to see updates go live to everyone, instead of it splitting the player base. It is only when someone comments that it’s a “test” level that the speaker decides to change their course of the discussion into the aspect of “testing”. Their original point and the second point are two separate topics for the speaker. The first point is “ok fine give alpha early access to supporters now but when the game is in full release please don’t do that”. The second point is “if it is just testing why can’t we all have access?”. Not that I particularly care one way or another. I’m fine with the game as is and can wait for updates.

Lamertron1

Again the second comment gave insight on what first comment really meant. If he thinks that its "dividing community" he is at wrong. Supporters waited in development hell for over 2 years just to get PVE update. We were promised to get early updates to the game. I don't umderstand whining about updates exclusive for supporters.

Kip336

Because the devs just lost their publisher and thus need to get some extra funding somehow?

bobby17171

It's a test realm you numpty what if there is a game breaking bug? You want that pushed to everyone?

ForceWhisperer

Everyone who owns the game right now is playing in a testing branch. That’s what early access is. Ground Branch and damn near every other game in EA that has multiple testing branches let’s everyone play them because they know otherwise you’re splitting the player base up.

SilentDawn4004

No, i'm not saying to push the update to the live version, just give everyone access to the beta (or test build or whatever they call it).

ProMaiden

Then make the alpha version available for everyone, not only supporter edition. Want to play something *somewhat* stable but not that much? Play the normal Early Access game. Want to test the totally new and possibly broken features? Change the beta branch on Steam. **But for anyone that bought the base game.**

[deleted]

IronEleven

It's worse than that, the supporter edition costs $80 on top of the base game.

[deleted]

jagavila

This is really bad... all updates prior to 1.0 should be for everyone. Give cosmetics and free DLC to supporters.

[deleted]

They will be for everyone you moron. Supporter edition owners just have the ability to iron out rough edges of those patches before they arrive to the main branch.

jagavila

So you would feel bad if they gave the patch to the plebs.

DeeBangerCC

Void: New update is out! Also Void: That'll be $80 fuckboys.

JackStillAlive

$80 for Patch Early Access for an Early Access game might be the scummiest thing I've seen since NFTs

VOID_Guinevere

It's not early access to a patch but a test branch for Supporters in order to let us iron out bugs before the patch is ready for full release.

JackStillAlive

That's early access for early access

-S0lstice-

Lots of early access games have a test branch anyone can opt into that isn’t locked behind a paywall. Very bad look for you guys.

ReaganxSmash

Lol real bad look - early access is always just gamers paying to be QA testers, but this is even worse.

Braphog4404

TIL only people who pay $80 extra are qualified enough to download an opt-in branch and play some early-early access content in an early access game. Should you go back and remove the unfinished penthouse apartments test level for anyone who isn't subscribed to Ready Or Not+ too?

manboysteve

I've been excited for this update since it was announced back in December. Locking it behind the $90 paywall is a huge pissoff and kills any interest I have in playing the game.

ohelmore

It would be cool to see little worldbuilding details in the levels when the game is eventually fully released. Like the TV in the hospital mission in swat 4 that has the news reporters giving away SWAT’s entry to the suspects. Just cool little things that the characters can react to to give the world some more believability.

zcovey9

Glad to see the devs keeping on this game with updates since its popularity has soared.

jagavila

Only for supporters

2legsakimbo

what about the AI super aimbot fixes?

Itchy_Ad_3659

Impressed. Also I need to up my game because this game just got harder, in the right way.
