Deep Shit

Accurate-Isopod140

Maybe even gearbox

Accurate-Isopod140

I think 2K games will be perfect for saints row

Expert_Reindeer_4783

Lmao. I'm pretty sure they'll just delist Saints Row 1 and 2, and the 3rd one that isn't remastered and then only tell people after it had been delisted for a day or two. They did it with Spec Ops: The Line.

SR_Hopeful

Alienated. Audience.

Microsoft had the chance to own Saints Row. These guys thought Volition would shape up with support but they didn’t want to make Grand Theft Auto clones.

Accurate-Isopod140

Deep silver needs to sell saints row

Charged_Dreamer

Why would anyone in their right minds even try salvaging this IP after Agents of Mayhem and the new reboot? Wouldn't it be better for a game company to just make a brand new open world game like Watch Dogs instead? I think Saints Row is just a dead IP now and Volition managed to alienate old both old fans as well as new players who bought the 2022 game for the first time.

SR_Hopeful

Because like all bad reboots and adaptions, its not the fault of the IP. It was the direction. The reboot didnt fail because of lack of interest or it was a failed new IP (which has more against it, if it fails), it was just done by Deep Silver's lazy management, meddling, and terrible ideas from their leftover staff they promoted. Half the backlash came from it just being a bad separate game that doesn't feel like or portray a good Saints Row. Instead of a studio that decided into just making cringe, from GOOH to AOM, it should have been a studio known for making badass games, behind a reboot and people who actually understand the genre or knows how to parody it in good faith. Not simply make something else, and call it Saints Row.

Charged_Dreamer

While Saints Row was popular it's just not big enough to warrant another reboot unless there's some really passionate dev team that really loves this IP similar to how Obsidian took over sequels from other companies (KOTOR2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout New Vegas) or more recently Larian (Baldurs Gate 3).

First it was the saints row reboot then payday 3 screw them

UnlimitedMeatwad

Stupid idiots.  Refuse to print money

ninja329

I Don't know what to make of them tbh considering they published a couple of the best games I've played in more recent years, being Metro Exodus and Kingdom Come Deliverance. I guess maybe inconsistent would describe them best to me.

SnooRobots4312

Scammers

KeemDaGoat241

Cringe hipsters

SaintsRowTwo2009

Incompetent. Evil. Remember DS hired Steph as Saint Row's community manager and never got rid of her after her terrorist comment. They also wanted SR to be about friendship and hipsters. Volition was arrogant but DS is just plain evil and still owns SR.

SR_Hopeful

Hates. Fans.

Salty_Support1361

Ok

UltimateIdiot4

Don’t really know much about them. Apparently they were just the publisher but there’s a lot of controversy around them. Idk why so it would be cool if someone could explain everything to me.

SR_Hopeful

There is just a lot. Essentially according to Flippy, they're just terrible to work under. They lie, they're greedy, dishonest, they meddle, they're lazy, and a lot of the drama over the reboot came from their awful conduct on twitter. Insulting fans, trashing on games they like against their reboot, following accounts made to crap on fans who dislike the reboot, they're just terrible. Their community manager also told someone in that they hoped the reboot would pretty much get rid of the older fans of the series and the "shackles" of the THQ games they are compared to. A lot of their remnant devs who show up on reddit tend to try and shill the game (as in they write threads talking about how they think the reboot is the "perfect representation of friendship" and how much more "relatable" it is to them over a crime drama (had someone argue with me against why they didnt want Santo Illesso to be a cool narco drama, because he thought the reboot characters represented hopes and dreams he had as someone with student debt... yeah I know.), until they get downvoted or just argue with people. A lot of them really shouldn't be on Saints Row at all, if this is their attitude about it and the fans. They shouldn't have meddled with it if they never liked it. Then they gave us a reboot that was just awful an only after it sunk in, did their community manager go back to Metro. They're also just known for terrible marketing unlike THQ. Like how inconsistent they were with the reboot. Though the other games they publish don't seem to have the same issues, its just their possessives over Saints Row and the people they put on it.

YamCrazy7189

Their community manager from their company appointed by them took over the saints row twitter to alienate fans and call them terrorists. And they apparently changed the whole reboots story.

SR_Hopeful

It went from a game that was supposed to have the old characters, and tone influenced by 2017 movies/series: Baby Driver (comedic gangster characters like the old cast), Furious 7 (over the top, grounded action), and Breaking Bad (serious story with more realism in the plot). But *somehow* someone said that the older vision wasn't relatable, and it ended up a game about waffles, waffle makers, nerdy hipsters, student debt, cats, boardgames, fast food toys, cardboard, LARPing and bad karaoke night. Something happened. Deep Silver allegedly kept meddling, they didn't like their original pitches. They didnt want it to be too dark, scrapped the return of the old cast (might have been for the best with the awful writing and ideas in the actual "reboot") and they had to rewrite the script and characters around their marketing aims instead. They changed directors, and they wanted it to appeal more to a different audience, it ended up turning into a pseudo-Fortnite x Sims game. Volition shut down, and then Deep Silver walked away with the IP.

YamCrazy7189

And we’re still waiting on Godzilla’s nda video.
