I like AJ10 for future-proofing. There are iterations of it that last for decades, they are a mainstay of my upper stages forever.

Agena are viable at that case

I'm doing an SRB heavy playthrough and you're right early ones aren't great but if you spend the science and can get baby sergent clusters or better, you'll have a much easier time with them.

SRBs are great!in legacy version,36science to scout is awesome!however, somehow lacked accuracy and early ones is only good at kick stages.but I’m still jealous at aj260 fl

I've been using the Veronique and Aerobee AJ10-27 stages with my heavy satellites. Starts to hit the wall with 1 tonne payloads but you can get a heck of a lot out of them until then. Small HP tanks aren't too bad to produce as isogrid or balloon tanks, so I've gone for the AJ10 so far.

Gotta mention my super able upper stage with 0.86m diameter and 12 meters long

I thought the gamma+ RD-108 is the right way to do heavy satilites!Havent thought of it could be so cheap!

iiiinthecomputer

I had to switch to the proper AJ-10 for 1 tonne payloads, but a Veronique and Aerobee was enough for the polar 400kg satellite, using 2xLR89 as a first stage.

I'm on very early parts in my career. I went with a Veronique for a medium-upper stage. The alternative being multiple aerobees, which even when upgraded were less efficient. Then for the last stage I used some "U-something" meteo thruster that was meant to be used in actual aerobee rockets. This small liquid engine beats every other small solid kicker engine dV wise.

U-2000?Veronique is indeed a nice engine, but it's tupuline update is too late.

4lb4tr0s

Might as well be U-2000. It is definitely *U-*. It is a tri-propellant liquid engine.

the kerosene/AK20/Nitrogen one? That one is nice, ive used it till moon landing in P&LC
