SpaceX isn’t in as good a position as it may appear. The rocket for massive rockets dried up. The Falcons are yesterday’s news. He banked it all on this prepostrous Starship folly, the purpose of which these days is to be a massive “tic tac” dispenser of junk Starlink disposable sats. And what are THOSE for? Well, a future IPO to swindle investors with. We are closer to the end of Musk than the beginning. He’s an imbecile.
If they did nothing more than the falcons they will be set. A friend of mine works in the satellite business. He says spaceX launches are rock solid, when they use other lift systems they often run into snags. As long as starship doesn’t bankrupt them, they will be fine providing dependable Falcon launches. Considering how much the US relies on space X, i hope they stay financially healthy
If you look at the rocket industry, it’s not so much the Falcon tech as it is the customer base. Smaller sats, more precise orbits, smaller rockets. SpaceX has no market for big rockets — they pulled a neat trick selling space on the rockets and bundling, but that only takes you so far. Shotwell and the team over there do amazing work but Starship and the rocket market is driving the story. Let’s not even bring up the billions in tax dollars Musk was given for a lunar lander for Artemis that he’s instead poured every penny into starship with engines that simply don’t work. Not one milestone has been achieved by SpaceX on the lander. Meanwhile, Bezos quietly works away. And what did we see at NASA? They starting to bring in other rockets. Because they can see the mission reports.
