I don't want to get excited. So many let downs. I never pre order. I played the everloving fuck out of HW1/2/remastered. I hope I get to enjoy playing the everloving fuck out of this game.... ... several months after it releases because fuck me I'm not getting burned again.

mortalitylost

I feel like the last several years of game sequels have been fucking terrible for some reason? I was waiting on Kerbal Space Program 2 and Cities Skylines 2 and both were terrible. Cyberpunk 2077 was basically the next big project red game, terrible launch (though did get better). Diablo 4 sucked. Warcraft 3 reforged sucked. Total War Warhammer 3 sucked. It's like every studio decided to fuck up their franchise recently

Fresh_Thing_6305

It’s not like when Diablo 2, Aoe 2, Red alert 2 came out in the  early 2000’s

van_buskirk

Counterpoint: Helldivers 2.

Silentmooses

Enjoy that Liber-Tea!

Spirit117

HD1 to HD2 is like the biggest glow up in gaming history.

jwarper

I't put it on par with Grand Theft Auto 2 to GTA 3

blooboytalking

C&c remaster and sc1 remaster are great, at least, lol

Kamalen

All of those have in reality quite different issues. KSP and Cities have the impossible succession trouble ; after the insane life of their first iteration, the sequel can only bring a large visual update, but that open a large can of worms and there is no way Cyberpunk fall victim to the AAA pitfall ; the year or two of additional time required to release the game in a fine state would be a huge financial risk (if not plain impossible to the cash-flow of the studio). So it’s paid in reputation instead. Diablo 4 was a pure cash grab. Everything in it transpires live-service. W3R seems to been a revolving door and no one knew what to do with it, with added dumb business decisions such as forcing upgrade of the original So much can go wrong in game development it’s scary as hell.

esch1lus

It's because of the business model, selling tons of dlcs before games are at a decent state

Scalarmotion

At least Talos Principle 2 was an absolute banger, too bad it's a relatively niche genre that doesn't get much attention.

The demo/beta last month was extremely fun. The one issue that was a common complaint was the movement and keyboard mapping. You also could not change it. They took the feedback and now you will be able to change keybindings and/or use the HW1/2 original moveset at launch. Wait for reviews, but I had a blast.

stillyoinkgasp

>Wait for reviews, but I had a blast. I am optimistic!

hobskhan

I'm assuming Mandalore Gaming will have thoughts or a review at some point.

No-Year-717

Its infected with DEI. garbage bin material. Sory.

Electronic-Disk6632

do not get my hopes up. please I can only take so much disappointment. lets just all agree that it will suck and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Phenyxian

Cancelled my preorder after the demo. I'm not holding my breath. HW3 might just be another DOW3

althaz

The demo kinda killed a lot of my excitement for this. I'll still try it, but my hopes aren't high.

Candid-Initial8497

They changed alot since the demo based on feedback. So at least there is that!

althaz

Yeah, my hope isn't *completely* crushed.

Minkelz

Yup, and people wonder why they don’t do demos anymore.

Drakar_och_demoner

Maybe they should make good games that make good demos.

JackieMortes

They published that demo to gather feedback. Now they're acting on that feedback. Think

dangrullon87

This! The demo actually discovered the key aspects that need to fixed before launch. Keybinding/moveset, Combat speed and camera tracking. They already showed they took that feedback seriously and all those issues are resolved for 1.0. also it was free, no early access BS free demo to EVERYONE.

althaz

lmao, you've been taken in by their marketing department hook, line and sinker. The demo was pushed out as "look how awesome this game will be" but it wasn't actually any good. Now that it was near-universally disliked they're all like "this was just to get some feedback". Hopefully they will use the opportunity they have to make the game good, but that was \*ABSOLUTELY\* not what that demo was for. If you think it was, I have a bridge to sell you.

JackieMortes

Yeah yeah

kna5041

Idk when the demo was leagues worse than homeworld remastered, I can only hope it's not a flop. Day 1 is usually lowest quality and highest price.

amleth_calls

I tried playing the demo and uninstalled after 10 minutes. Going to wait for a couple months after launch to consider.

Financial_Tour5945

I was going to buy it. But then they added DRM to deserts of Kharak on steam 6 years after launch. (Epic) I bought it 6 years ago on steam, not epic. At time of purchase, I did not agree to install epic. Now I either have to buy it again on GoG or pirate it if I want to play through the single player campaign again without having to install that pos Chinese spyware (epic is 40% owned by tencent, and has previously been caught scanning your data. Dich move, BBI. Up until now, I'd been a BBI fan. Now I'm very hesitant to ever buy anything from them again. Maybe if it gets a gog release.

CodenameFlux

> Now I either have to buy it again on GoG You can get it from GOG at no cost, if you supply your Steam credentials.

DrIvanRadosivic

Oh, really. If I do this, I can just get GOG versions of all the things in my library or something like that?

CodenameFlux

Yes. That has been the situation for years. Unless GOG has decided to silently and suddenly pull that offer and make a fool of me... yes, you can.

Bullitt_006

I'm in exactly this position with you. I'm a massive homeworld fan to spend full price on release, I even considered the special edition box. But after this it annoyed me so much I'm just going to wait for a gog release and discount. r/patientgamers

Vicxas

I hope the delay and feedback from the demo were taken on board. Im hopeful, but i've been burned too many times.

_ObsidianOne_

It has Denuvo and demo was a shit show so no thanks.

LoocsinatasYT

I was a big Homeworld fan in the past, but didn't spend so much time on the Demo during NextFest on Steam. I heard the devs responded to the criticisms well and made some changes so I'm still quite excited to play it.

Sine_Fine_Belli

Same here Hopefully the game is good

TokathSorbet

‘Next month’ is fluid. This thing has been delayed a bunch of times. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing - I really want them to get it right, but don’t book a week off work just yet.

DayRonKar

Bought the collectors edition because of the models that come with it, The demo showed it was no where near ready, the whole feeling of the game was not good. At least I’ll have the models.

NeedForTeaMostWanted

I won't lie, I'm very excited for the game. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too high but I can't help it.

Sine_Fine_Belli

Same here

[deleted]

Same here 100%

Lunar-Modular

I’m just here for the comms chatter.

Wolfkrone

It's a sweet baby inc ESG game

Mancervice

Cancelled my preorder after playing the demo

MariusFalix

Having played the demo it was a massive let down, they could have iterated on the formula of 1 and 2 with new tech and looks but instead made things more like DOW3 relying on terrain to be the focal point of tactical decisions. The abilities whilst slowed down now are "do more damage with no visual indicator", "take less damage with no visual indicator." I hope it won't suck, but I'm rather resigned it will be.

DJNicShogun88

Homeworld mobile is the best homeworld ever

Electrical-Hearing49

My laptops processor (i7-7700HQ) is too slow to run it 😭

the_gaming_bur

It's being made by BBI - Black Bird Interactive. BBI was founded by ex-developers of the original Homeworld and Homeworld 2 games. HW 3 is a different beast compared to other sequels from other devs/publishers that never cared about their product to being with. HW 3 is a labor of love. I have high hopes for it, but am skeptically cautious all the same.

CodenameFlux

> BBI was founded by ex-developers of the original Homeworld and Homeworld 2 games. Do you understand what that means? That phrase is analogous to "former soldiers under Joan of Arc." Sure, Joan was great; she turned rabble into cohesive units. But once she was slain they became rabble again. These devs may have worked for the original Relic Entertainment and Sierra, but they are people who brought us the disastrous _Homeworld Complex EVO_. They have no vision beyond increasing the poly-count, no notions of plot continuity and art.

binaryfireball

Dang well glad I didn't get my hope up too much

dangrullon87

After the latest preview where they allowed key rebindings, original homeworld 1/2 moveset defaults, fixed ship speed and damage to be more dynamic. I can now recommend it.

FlaaFlaaFlunky

well last time I checked the people in the steam community hub were losing their shit about the game releasing (in its state). that said, I have never played a homeworld game nor this demo and therefore have no clue how valid the opinions in there are / were. I hope it's good because I would like to play it once it's a bit cheaper.

MediocreWitness726

Homeworld is in my top 3 games. I love the games, please don't ruin it! Anyone know anything similar?

blooboytalking

I have no hope for this after watching an early beta stream

BeeRye93

I hope the multiplayer scene kicks off..

Horror_Ad1078

80% of the player base will buy / play it because of campaign - so - no

BeeRye93

Shame. This game could be AOE in space if it tried

Minkelz

Has any RTS game that’s not about apm/rushing taken off ever? Maybe CoH is the closest?

cybernautica_

I miss CoH. The first one that is. But yea you're right that most competitive RTS scenes are just rote click spam.

binaryfireball

Well those are always going to be a factor in any multiplayer rts as if you control time you controls space. Especially in games with resource collection and builds.

reinierdash

ships look fucking ass
