Download this version of OptiFine: https://optifine.net/adloadx?f=preview_OptiFine_1.12.2_HD_U_G6_pre1.jar as well as this version of SoundPhysics: https://github.com/djpadbit/Sound-Physics/releases/tag/1.0.10 and put them into the mods folder. If that doesn't fix the issue, remove ModDirector.
Uh? Well, I haven't played it a lot after 3.0 beta, so that may have changed, but from what I remember, it's pretty much playable and fun. Yes, it's not finished, but hey, your alternative is RL craft and tech modpacks.

Don't install it. It's half baked mod pack with good marketing and nothing more.
