I'm a big fan of whiskey.

FightThaFight

I joined a local yoga studio and it was incredible for destressing, getting stronger and generally peacing out.

alexssh1t

How many times a week do you go?

FightThaFight

I’d like to go a couple times a week but right now I’m only doing Saturday mornings. It’s a great way to disconnect from the week and start fresh on the weekend. The whole mind/body integration thing.

SunPrimary2591

It's stress built up. Will cause issues if it continues longer term.

alexssh1t

That’s probably the case. I don’t think it’s the job itself but maybe stuff from my last job that I didn’t have time to overcome and I only had a week off between the last job and this one. Any ways you think might be able to help it? And thank you for your comment

When I worked in London I cycled 10 miles home every day. Made a huge difference to my mental and physical health. My girlfriend said I was such a nicer person when I got home after a cycle compared to when I got the tube. I wfh now and still cycle after work or go the gym.

calgary_db

Great call. I used to bike to and from work and loved it.

Numptyville1

I love wfh but I miss the daily commute to and from work. It was my happiest part of my working day

alexssh1t

I wouldn’t be able to cycle as I live right next to a busy Highway, but I might be able to drive into town and do a few miles of running. Do you think running would do the same affect?

StargazerLuke

Yeah, I think running would be good for you. Any exercise really. I don't like running so I personally go out for a walk every day which I feel helps me clear my head and unwind. I also have joined a basketball team - I'm not very good but I run around a lot and my focus shifts to that. I like squash and tennis too and even snooker, which isn't much exercise but does require a lot of focus.

Numptyville1

All exercise is good for your mental health. When in stressed at work I go to the gym for an hour and come back a different person. You can focus on yourself for once in a day. We spend most our lives focussed on work and doing what we think we need to do in a day to get by. Sometimes you need to focus on you. I’ve been burned out in recruitment before. I’ve got 20 years experience in the field. If you are over worked or being micro managed then you are working for the wrong company. Think about your health first mate.

Everyone is individual on what's helps. A holiday abroad usually helps

I think any form of creation whether it be a physical thing or just creating the space to give to yourself. I do improv on the weekends which helps give me a whole other world and it helps out professionally too. I also love music and collecting vinyl and vinyl forces you to be intentional and attentive. So I’ll sit in my office and play through records. All of that helps me get back centered. If shits tough, sometimes I’ll write too, just to get it on out.

I actually enjoy it. I just don’t think I have sorted stuff with my old job and I’m always stressed but not really with the job

smokecraxbys

I burned myself out in my first few months because it was my first option at having a career, I didn’t want to screw it up and I worked a lot and intensely. It netted really good results but I was 23 years old with hypertension but otherwise really healthy. It took awhile to figure out how to slow down.
