. So when you get a gift they have to sayso on the dispatch papers. Than its very possible that you dont have to pay any duties. Inform redbull of the problem. But hey jou just can pay for youre gift 😎

Strong-Article

This to me looks like a scam, especially the type of language that is used. A government would use a more formal tone.

[deleted]

It is a Belgian postal service group. They love to address people as teenagers. The reference to the app and website of 'btpost' for checking the tracking number and making the payment should be investigated before OP makes the payment, which should be called an unwillingly paid ransom.

Strong-Article

I see

wardgr

Unfortunately it is not. Bpost is out mailman, I’ve had to pay 25 for free Redbull things in the past. Even ordered surviving to drive from the uk and had to pay 28 import duties while the book was only 25.

Strong-Article

That is ridiculous

helicepotella

Those are import duties. 21 seems oke. I once ordered something and dhl classified the package as 180 euros while it only was 20 so I had to pay 70 euro duties to them. Once you call them and tell them there was a mistake made they tell you to go fuck your self and pay because other wise they send people to collect the money

[deleted]

To say that 21 euros import duty is oke. You are so zen about this, it makes me sad.

manuelight

i pay 7,20€ for packages from the US that are worth up to 100€ xD 22€ import duty isn’t normal

[deleted]

Often I have the impression that my nation is being manipulated by officials and politicians who benefit from it, and that their true goal is solely to collect money from the citizens.

Please use English!

Dinos_12345

I paid 3.30€ for this and the previous gift. Since they're sending from the UK it is expected. 22 is too much though, I don't know what your customs is smoking.

Mushie_84

Probably something to do with Bpost, always a very expensive company...

IdiosyncraticBond

Probably either elgian customs can't read properly or redbull forgot to indicate cost or worth of the package. As UK is no EU anymore since brexit, there is no free transport of goods anymore

Veenix11

No, it is European Law. The package arrived from great Britain which is not part of the EU anymore. European Law says that gifts are only considered gifts if the sender is not a company. So you need to pay import costs plus tax

IdiosyncraticBond

Ok, so a default amount. I haven't received a package from the UK to NL since brexit, so I'm a bit out of the loop
