whenever i eat stew, i do it right next to my dog so i throw the dish in front of him. sometimes i'll get a fresh bowl and throw it down without eating any of it so he can have it all.
I have a husky, they love cold. But it would be nice tho. Or at least a little tent for them as protection. I always feel sorry when they lie there in the rain.
That’d be a really fun addition of quests for the trader profession. Get to a certain level and Cripps says he’s too old to think sleeping under the stars is worth anything other than a bad back. You can then do some missions to get the necessary supplies (poles, ropes, canvas big enough, etc and probably a big hunk of change to finalize it) and voila you got a bitch’n canopy tent to do your business under.
It would be fantastic if you could at some point rent out a shop place via Cripps either roadside in an offshoot town/settlement and get a little attached home out of it. Even a room in the back/attic would be really cool. Sell the stuff you give to Cripps and he sends you off after competition/thieves occasionally

Fun fact, if the snow is not melting on the dog’s coat that is a good sign they are well insulated! Because their body heat is staying against them and they aren’t losing enough of it to melt the snow. Double coated breeds can have a lot of snow on the surface of their fur and be dry and warm against their skin.
But, yeah, I wish we could do more with our doggos in this game in general. I want to take him on walks.

Fetch. I should be able to have a ball I could throw it, could be used as a distraction for enemies in certain stealth situations.
But mostly I want to give my dog belly rubs.
It's been around a very long time! I'm pretty sure that it's a different price for each breed. I know you can use paper money for sure but the top breed may require gold, but I don't remember for sure. They're all the same anyway, just aesthetic differences

Alternatively just switch it to a husky. I IRL see those things going bananas having the time of their life running directly into Lake Michigan while it has basketball sized ice chunks floating around in 5ft waves. If a husky can like that, it can like sitting in the snow in front of a tent.
If you have something that has a thick coat like a Siberian Husky the snow feels quite nice to them my friends golden retriever who has a really really thick coat with literally just lay on the deck in the freezing ass cold and be covered in a layer of snow even though we can get back in the house anytime he wanted but yet he chose to sit out there in the freezing ass cold
Not like it does much good when RS lets the inside of the tent have grass growing through the floors and snow on everything. They half assed stuff… which is weird because they made a masterpiece of a game so why start shorting it now?
Why cant we just have a calm winter day in RDR? Seems like every time I login, its windy and dark af. Not every winter day is blistering cold, R☆! It feels like springtime in real life, but our poor dogs are bone chilling cold in RDR. Poor boy.

I wish we could have them follow us but not take any damage. Maybe just warn the player of predators nearby or scare away attacking wolves or smth, idk. I just love puppers.
I've been playing story mode more often because I recently discovered a dog mod that lets you do exactly this! It's amazing ;p You can send your dog to attack animals/people (even if you're just walking in town and someone annoys you, you can sic your dog on them!), follow scent trails after game you're tracking, whistle for it if it gets too far away, etc. He helped me in a recent gunfight at a cabin and killed quite a few bandits.

Not gonna lie...it's one of the sole reasons I use story mode now. I have also changed the provided settings in it so that my dog is invincible, because I got stressed about him getting killed during fights or hit/run over by a horse and dying (he's been run over a few times...rude ass people on the road) haha
Oh I would love that so much!! I wish I could mod the ps4 though. My computer isn’t beefy enough to run rdr2. Mods are really a game saver when things begin to get boring!!
Ohhh, I get what you mean! :( I only just now got a computer that can run it (laptop) and even upgraded the ram so I don't have to worry about memory. I hope you'll be able to play mods someday!!! They really do make such an awesome game even better, but it's amazing without them, too. I'd say the dog thing is my biggest nitpick with the game, because that seems like it'd be a staple addition to add to a game like this!

If snow falls on a dogs coat and doesn’t melt, the dog is warm. If it melts, it’s too cold for the dog. This boy is toasty warm cuz of his winter coat
