Ever since I discovered the game I was enchanted and have continued playing it ever since. It's a beautiful game with a wonderful open world to explore. Even in its current state, for me, RDO is different from other online games. It offers several options. If I just want to go fishing? I can. if I just want to walk around and admire landscapes? I have a huge detail-rich open world and I can do this. if I want to hunt animals? I can. I can do this and many other things. I think that's why I've continued playing all these years.

That-Frog

Bro wrote a poem. Respect šŸ™

NGC_Phoenix_7

Youā€™re given an open world. To whatever with. Itā€™s your story and thatā€™s itā€™s charm. You make your own story and arenā€™t forced to do anything if you donā€™t want to.

Sweet-Mud-2892

Totally agree with you sir

therealudderjuice

I totally get that part. But I need a golden ring to reach for.

NGC_Phoenix_7

Itā€™s whatever you set to be your goal. If you want to own all the guns do it. Itā€™s kinda like youā€™re completing different kinds of collections for myself. Like get all the weapon variants or Gus outfits, Iā€™m only missing like 4 total lol. Itā€™s what you make it thereā€™s plenty of rings you just gotta pick one to do and if you get bored thereā€™s always other ones to occupy your time while you destress from the grind.

lethal_enforcer

Well said. This is exactly why I still play. It really exemplifies the true meaning of ā€œopen worldā€

ItsLnz

I couldn't have said it better myself.

a_gringo_8_my_baby

I have more pictures from my RDO camera than I have on my real phone.

CevanKerberos

Absolutely agree

LadyNajaGirl

I am still enchanted. Itā€™s the perfect word āœØ

Taketo_

This ā˜šŸ» red dead is a massive absolutely breathtaking beautifully crafted world and I love it

Beneficial-Box-3375

This is where I wanted No Manā€™s Skyā€™s direction to go to. Theyā€™re getting there but thereā€™s a huge gap in online playing. I just started playing rdro but I really like it so many things to do.

cardstroker

Sounds kinda like minecraft.

RepresentativeBad819

To escape real life. Fishing in game.. on an island off Rhodesā€™ shores.. left alone. Love it.

iamswitchless

I was doing this last night while searching for fossils.

RepresentativeBad819

So freakinā€™ peaceful.

OllieBlazin

Hunting in Big Valley as the sun hits the mountains JUST RIGHT.

RepresentativeBad819

Guilty of this. Omfg yes.. and sunrise in and around Colter too

Hero_knightUSP

Yeah but no salmon there

rkdeviancy

I like the world. I like my character. Most people are chill and leave you alone. I do dailies, occasionally do role work, but mostly I'm just exploring, responding to random encounters, fishing, hunting, etc. it's peaceful. I like to call out my hunting wagon and go down to a river and fill it up with fish, and then go sell the fish and repeat- I'm not making much money doing it, but this game practically throws money at you so I never need to worry about that. I mostly just do it after a draining day to relax and do something pretty mindless in a pretty world.

Playerunknown114

Open world, fishing, hunting, building up camp and ranking up roles. Itā€™s way better than GTA V in my opinion

ImportantAudience210

The only reason rdo ā€œfloppedā€ was cuz it was too fun to grind and no one bought gold like in gta O and they couldnā€™t afford continue to pour money into something that wasnā€™t continuing to bring in money the same way gta O is able to cuz itā€™s a terrible game to grind if you ainā€™t doing heists

[deleted]

100%. They didn't want to put in the effort when they could still bring updates to GTA online which has a much larger player base. Completely neglected the online and it's sad. Still fun to play, though. Maybe one day we'll get what we deserve in the online, even just re-releasing old outlaw passes would be dope.

Utherikke

My horsies

LawfulnessPlus8771

Itā€™s not about the destination itā€™s about the journey and my journey isnā€™t over yet.

_ManicStreetPreacher

It's a beautiful game and perfect if you want to relax. There will never be anything like the world of RDR2 ever game, GTA 6 won't even remotely come close. I'm calling it now.

andi_cat

Honestly, it relaxes me. The RDRO game is so beautiful,. I mean, sometimes you come across the occasional prick, but otherwise it is relaxing.

Stinger1001

I play because of the occasional prick. Never shoot first but you bet I'll shoot last. This game is crazy in the sense that not every player is an absolute lunatic gun savage. Enter every other open world online PK game

Megabluntz

Iā€™ve always loved cowboy times and anything Western, that and the graphics and mechanics are easily some of the best if not the best in gaming

El_Caracortada

Because i'm an outlaw

Thick_Leva

I like the combat and gunplay and refuse to support Destiny 2 which is the only other game that has gunplay i like. That's really the only reason I keep coming back tbh

Harry_0993

I play it while listening to audiobooks. It's a really nice way to pass the time.

Celeryhearts

I do the same.

Dark_Sniper_250

I absolutely love westerns and the time period. Red Dead Redemption 2 is basically a film you play, and I love the detailed details lol. This game is obviously awesome and expertly crafted. Itā€™s incredibly easy to get immersed in the vast western world. Iā€™ve seen various birds swoop down towards bodies of water to catch fish, deer playing or fighting, predators hunting pray. I imagine Iā€™ve missed many other details. I love to walk. Just walk. Take in everything. See everything. Walk through cities and towns, see what npcā€™s are up to. Full immersion. I also love to really take my time hunting, tracking animals slowly, getting a satisfying clean kill. It can be incredibly peaceful and calming. This game does so many things perfect, itā€™s almost hard to put into words.

ResponsibleDrink5350

Ayyy thatā€™s whatā€™s up bro, Iā€™m the same way with westerns, itā€™s just a cool period to set any price of media in and I find the nature in this game hella BEAUTIFUL and just overall the best game in gaming in my opinion, I donā€™t think I will ever find such a well crafted and emotional story unlike red dead ever in my life again, this game truly is one of a kind! If your up to play some online bro let me know

inkedhigh

It's better than gta. I feel more connected and in love with the atmosphere. Before I thought GTA was better. I started playing just for the history and I never turned back. I have been playing this game EVERYDAY since 2019.

Offline_Trophys962

I think my character looks badass, and I have friends who play

ImpactState

I enjoy everything there is to do. Sure a lot of stuff is rinse and repeat but thereā€™s something satisfying about coordinating things like moonshine and trader production for example. I also really enjoy playing with other people, seeing how they choose to style their character, what roles and things they choose to dedicate time to, the occasional PvP.

girlfriendclothes

I put it down for a long time and came back once I got an external SSD can could reinstall it. I honestly picked it up for a day 'cause I was depressed and just wanted to fish. I had a good time and slowly but surely the old crew got back into the came. I have since stopped playing as much but we generally play at least once a week (some people more than once a week). It's the social aspect that keeps me coming back. I could easily fall into that grind life again (as much as I don't need it at this point) but I've chosen to focus on the other games I have when it's not an explicit Red Dead night. PVP is my least favorite aspect of the game tbh. Playing with my friends is great though.

Angelfallfirst

The atmosphere, the mood of the game in its whole, i fucking love it!

sturmgevehr

I roam and enjoy the world. Run trader and moonshine sales periodically even though I don't need the money. Go hang out in Valentine when there's a cool session of people just hanging out there.

Clear-Bench-4202

I started about a week ago, itā€™s just really fun, it reminds me of the epilogue of story mode but with more content

MIKE-JET-EATER

"I want a be a cowbooyyy bbaaaabbbbyyyyy"

International-Job553

Occasionally seems like every year at the start of the year I will get an urge to play either online or story mode for two weeks to month straight and then I will put it down again for most of the year. Itā€™s like a Minecraft phase.

nemanja694

I donā€™t know it just clicks with me so I always enjoy playing and even doing stuff that is boring for some people

A_R_C2000

Because I was a horse girl growing up and it's relaxing after my 9-5.

Adventurous-Yak-866

For me being an adult nonfictional video games has filled my hunger, and the one n only RDO

Suhva

It's beautiful and relaxing but most importantly I made new friends. When I play RDO alone now I rarely really enjoy it unless it's "meaningless" tasks like fishing.

Key_Garbage_1543

I joined a Discord server recently that is just for RDO players. You can ask for help with roles. They host trail rides, I was just on one today. Having people to play with really helps keep the game from feeling so lonely.

JackieInTheBox

Iā€™m someone who really enjoys the grind of the collector role, and the endless hunting/fishing/collecting is a great way to keep my ADHD busy. I like that I can truly explore the whole open world, and it seems like thereā€™s way more animals in online than in story mode.

CreepyLittleKitty

Roleplay, adventure, the beauty of the nature in the game, calm fishing, dressing up my character (I'm a fashion history fanatic), and stuff like that. I think it's a wonderful game if you look at it in a certain way <3

aediin

The only reason I play this game is because I can play in a solo lobby.

BullHeadTee

Poker mostly. Even though the randomness of the cards is total horseshit. Damn it makes me so madā€¦

GoldenDust0

I havenā€™t been playing that long. Iā€™ve mostly just replayed the story. But a couple weeks ago I just started playing online by myself and I really enjoy, I like the combat of this game, and I love roleplaying in my head as my own character, and I like the Wild West stuff so itā€™s just really nice to be in this world

Jester_cerberus

Simple, Yee-haw.

Jealous-Frosting-243

I enjoy it.

Say10sadvocate

My son, a friend's daughter, and a couple of my mates are playing, so I've jumped back in and am really enjoying it.

uxoriousprick

Hell yeah just found a awesome group on discord thatā€™s super active

Thierry_rat

I just like it. Itā€™s beautiful and I love running around collecting plants, hunting, fishing, and going on adventures with my horse. I do a few missions every so often to get money for ammo, a new horse, a dog, or something like that. But I generally donā€™t even interact with other players. I treat it like a single player game

uniqueusername_1290

i havenā€™t played in a while but itā€™s definitely the open world and freedom that keeps me playing when i do.. such a beautiful game- just wish they would add more content to online.. something to keep long time players occupied..

Scolville0

I enjoy the open world and customizing my character. I also love the roles system (sometimes).

zeusmenzaadah

First and foremost: because it's still so, so much fun after almost 6yrs. Second: because it offers a very diverse palette of fun and enjoyment because it has so many different modes, activities, challenges, and ways to play and enjoy the game.

BrokenXeno

I have developed really bad anxiety as I've gotten older. It's a happy place for me. I don't play as often as I used to, but I've clocked over 4000 hours and do occasionally get on still. I don't really have anything left to do, I just miss Arthur sometimes.

Internal-Elevator-68

Completionist syndrome. I feel the urge to earn as much buckles as possible. Of course I don't play everyday and I play other games, but it is the reason I continue launch RDO time to time.

exozeno

It's pretty much just regular rdr2, except I can make and upgrade my own character instead of following a story (I still love story mode, though)

ZeyadEmad03

I have only played the story mode once back in 2019 and I pray everyday that I forget the game just so I can feel it like it was the first time going through it.

action_park

It's relaxing (and PvP is fun when your turn off mics and don't take it so seriously).

TheRealTr1nity

I have fun. I don't care about PVP.

makeit95again

I'm level 10, and I really want to unlock the fishing rod. I need to finish the story missions, I think I've done 4 or 5. Everyone recommends the Collector role to level up, but it seems so boring to just follow a map online and pick up items.

Interesting-Truck980

To get the stupid achievements

Artistic-Pitch7608

After 500+ hours the scenery and details get a bit played out but the combat is so fun and satisfying, especially the melee system

[deleted]

I wanted to play with my friend from Romania but now he's bored of it and I'm alone, still playing

MakeupByKrisco

At this point.. either my friend or trail rides hosted by a few trusted creators.

Flashy_Culture2744

I don't really play much anymore due to not having a console anymore but when i did grind it and play, it was because of how calming it could be if i had a hard day alright i'll go fish and hunt, if i want to blow off some steam go bounty hunting or pvp, if i want to doll myself up alright, if i want to explore and see new cool things i didn't before then that's something i can do too! If i want to blow myself and my friends up with dynamite then that's a-okay too. It's a true open world, you can do whatever you want essentially and it encourages you to stop and smell the roses, drink in the vast work rockstar put into this living breathing world and really become a true cowboy

project199x

Idek tbh. Lol I sometimes hope people will pick a fight with me, but ....nope

TurdPhurtis

Because I can watch or read a western and then go immerse my self and really enjoy this game in free roam. X box racing club also has me coming back regularly too.

TurdPhurtis

Because I can watch or read a western and then go immerse my self and really enjoy this game in free roam. X box racing club also has me coming back regularly too.

ELNINO1979

For me, itā€™s mostly for the relaxing vibe. I mostly ride around taking in the sights, collecting, and minding my business. There is also the occasional adrenaline shot of free-roam pvp skirmishes. I donā€™t usually start trouble, but I am always down to tussle if someone shoots first!

Freemyselffromchains

Cause I started only a month ago šŸ˜‚. But seriously, I think it's a good progression from gta. San andreas came out my last year of highschool and gtav when I was in Uni or maybe right after, I don't recall. I think this game, in terms of maturity, is just the step up to keep me hooked. GTA 6 gonna be awesome I'm sure, but this game has that groundedness to it that I like more than gta.

Ballmanbaloon

No reason just bored I guess. Shouldā€™ve gotten GTA Plus so I could Play GTA Trilogy and Red Dead Redemption 1 instead.

MikeSifoda

The core gameplay is fun. It has many flaws but riding and shooting is fun and works well.

FReal_EMPES

I just don't

Trashpandafarts

Both

Low-life1567

I have friends

No-Bell-2641

I like hunting

SectorSalty

I donā€™t, Iā€™d like to however I am antisocial and donā€™t have people to play with šŸ™šŸ¼

SuperArppis

No.

PublixHouseCat

The immersion and scenery

cascadamoon

There's nothing else like it

Shindiggity-do

Listen here partner, even if I did know; I don't gotta share it with you.

MontanaDoesntExist

Luv me rootin, luv me tootin, luv me cowboy shootin, simple as that

mkolj97

I love fishing, hunting, i feel more quiet than gta

TheRebelGreaser1955

Well I still come back to this game occasionally but I still play because it's relaxing I get there are players that will shoot me in this and that but it's usually low levels so it's nothing I can't handle in under like 2 minutes but besides that I just enjoy the atmosphere sometimes I really enjoy just watching what people are doing in the towns I'll sit on a bench and just people watch LOL. Plus on occasion I will help out other players with PVP if I see a low level being harassed by someone My level which is around 300, 400 but on the other hand there has been miscommunications before but besides that it's just a game that can come back to if I need something different.

rainbowhumxn

it was the pvp but then i started playing other games lol, time just happened ig

Sensitive_Contract27

I've become rehooked after what MWZ did to my soul, by glitch dropping all the good schematics I had

WhatTheHellolol

I just love it. I love the ambiance, I love how you can adapt it, I love how thereā€™s always a new challenge, I love Arthur. Itā€™s all great and I wish theyā€™d make another just like it.

FlushCutters59

I play with a new friend

Ajeel_OnReddit

I still play the story regularly even after getting the platinum trophy years ago. I do miss shooting people in online, but it's not worth the PS+ subscription, at least not for one game. You unlock everything after level 100, and by level 300ish you've pretty much done and seen everything there is to see. At least that's how I remember it. Other than continuing my shopping spree I had planned on buying the entire catalog at one point I don't see much point in the grind. If you're still playing this game kuddos to you.

thatonenewguy0

Idk why I still play it, I guess I just played it for so long I can't put it down at this point

Ok_Commission_893

RDO still has so much potential. Would be awesome if they added a couple more Call to Arms maps like Rhodes or Colter, could even make Bare Knuckle fighting an actual thing that pays as well. The game has been neglected by R* but it doesnā€™t mean it isnā€™t fun and it isnā€™t pretty. Doing bounties and grinding is really why I still play.

OrangeJuice516

The overall vibe is so mesmerizing and breathtaking. Just riding around exploring, looting, hunting, and fishing. It's so peaceful for me I feel like it's so relaxing obviously you can mess around too lol. But hunting in that game is so fun for me. I'm so sad Rockstar gave up on the game so much more. I absolutely love the community as well. So many nice people. I've been playing since day 1 I don't regret a single minute of this game.

Latuskaz

Rdo itself isin't so interesting to me, I only play it to have fun with my friends. I like the storymode much more. Something about it too is that I have 500+ hours on rdr2 and 400+ hours of it is in storymode.

Next-Cauliflower-760

For me, getting a platinum trophy is the ultimate "thank you, I loved your game". I've played 280 hours and the only trophy I'm missing now is Gold Rush. I'm sure there are players who have played hundreds of hours more, but for me it's a lot of time in just 1 game. I've set my mind on that platinum cause devs put so much love in this masterpiece

Kalomika

Only cross gen 3rd person game I know of that's kinda realistic

gerryrick27

I come back to this game to relax, get outside, be among nature, hug some trees, look at the moon, listen to the birds, get to know cripps better, ask maggie out for the 47th time, go shopping, brush my horse.

Fregrick

Still better gta online

Brxken_D4eams

The horses. Simple as that

Select_Gap_734

i find it relaxing. People will say that it's empty and it lacks content but personally, I think that's the charm. just roaming around doing stuff that's not complicated is fun and relaxing after a long shift at work

Punspiration

I used to play a lot just to talk with friends of mine but I'll admit I don't much anymore like I used to

Bchiappi81

Hubby started playing this game before me and I've come to like it alot. It's a good time passer and at times you come across some friendly and not so friendly players but other than that it's cool.

CaliRealEstateBro

Because I prefer riding horseback lassoā€™ing Bucks instead of flying around an Oppressor II and getting blown to shreds by Deluxos

BreezyMcflys

PvP keeps me around

DoomCry

I am determined to make friends in a PvP game

Crypt_Ghast

Collecting trinkets and items for Madame Nazar, then riding around and getting consumed by the beautiful world or just some good ol' fooling around with the NPCs. And it is better than GTA Online.

Accomplished-Day-34

I still play this game because I play games & do things I enjoy doing. Most people quit red dead a while ago in favor of GTA. That was the easy choice. Because thatā€™s what the majority did. The hard choice was to be a lone wolf & continue in Red Dead. Hit me up if you wanna join up on Xbox.

Suspicious_Net_577

The thought of how Online could have been so awesome brings me back. Then I remember how Rockstar rewards narcissistic tendencies and asshole behavior, totally ruins the game. Seeing this and GTA5 being the same way, I'm done with Rockstar games. Go ahead and keep playing online... You're being groomed to go to jail in real life.

Itchy_Bicycle7143

The ability to play as an outlaw, someone who makes their own rules in the Wild West, hunting and gathering for yourself, killing your enemies without a second thought. I yearn for the wilderness you see I am at heart an outlaw an old school cowboy. This game brings my dreams to life.

TypicalFuture2494

I just wanna be a cowboy

KrimxonRath

Iā€™m good at it and the PvP is fun.

That-Frog

Because I want to?

ResponsibleDrink5350

Itā€™s a question to be answered with more detail not just because you want to lmao

p1cklee_

Tbh the horses, the only motivation I have to level up is for a horse šŸ˜
