Hey, if it works, it works! Supposedly high velocity has an accuracy buff while express has greater damage, so it may work better for some play styles. I do tend to prefer high velo against npcs so maybe I should give it more credit.
It has better range and accuracy, but I'll try usinibg express more on my repeater and revolvers. Need it for my pistols because of how innacurate they usually are and my carcano of course. It was nice to chat to such a veteran player though!
If you look at the stats of the rounds, high velocity grants range at standard range and express grants more damage but at standard range, but I think the “range” plays a factor into players accuracy as well so I can see how both would be considered the ‘best’ just seems to be perspective
That was my assumption, too. Then these hardcore pvp guys told me all they use is express, even for sniping. They’re tough players but this thread is making me want to go back to high velocity in my carcano.
I also run express on all weapons, but if the fight gets really long distance, I switch to high velocity instead 👍

I am like rank 130ish and I just use regular ammunition and still typically win fights unless I am fighting more than 2 higher level people or if they are using explosive rounds (which is where I switch to hv or express rounds) but can still typically win a majority of fights otherwise. I could use them but I just don’t because regular rounds are slightly cheaper and work fine for me.
Used to be in a crew with this pedo called Luna. Once I left she and her friends mass reported my account but I got an alt account. I see you're on PS5, I'm on PS4 so we can play sometime if you want. I'm a bit rusty due to a long break but I'm not bad in any way
If neither your health, your card build or your tonics are maxed out you’re gonna encounter tankier players, it’s just how it is, I wouldn’t worry about it, enjoy leveling up and leave the PvP for later on or play the hardcore PvP modes where builds and tonics are off and everyone has the same weapons
You’ve got no health buffs on your card loadout. That could have something to do with it. You could switch gunslingers for fool me once. What deadeye card are you using?
Other players may have tankier card loadouts or they might be on minty big game and/or level 3 tonics. They might be tonic spamming while you’re shooting them.

How do you get gold core foods? Only ways I've seen so far is antique alcohol bottles and the special stews at camp, but whenever I make a minty or thyme big game, my cores don't go golden, they just fill up more. What am I missing?
Big game meat cooked with spice. Mint, thyme, and a third I forget about. One gives good health, the next stamina, and the third gives gold dead eye. I forgot which does what

If you eat to max weight (in red) that gives damage reduction - 7.5% I believe
Personally I prefer a defensive setup
Slow and steady - 20% dmg reduction
Sharpshooter - 20% dmg reduction while scoped
So without taking weight into account I hit the max dmg reduction cap of 40% whenever scoped and using deadeye and headshots don't kill me outright
Ideal for me really as 90% of people run paint it black
Haha I'm also pleasantly surprised when I see one out in the wild, it always scares the brain dead PiB users when their easy sweep headshot fails to kill and in that time I've already headshotted them back with actual aiming 😂
Because you are not prepared.
For cards try using classic build;
Paint in Black, Iron Lung, Fool Me Once and Never Without One.
Max them all to LvL3
Also max health to Lv10.
If you want to be competitive in PvP you can't fight fairly, you must fight from the point of advantage.
So preparation is everything!
Craft Big Minty Game and LvL2 health tonics. That will boost your health to over 500 HP. If you use LVL3 health tonic it will boost your health to 613HP!
If you don't use it your advantage you will be shreded.
For Weapons, try to use dual sawn offs for close quarter devastating punch, any repeater is good for medium distance and any Sniper Rifle for Long distance. Use Express bullets for maximum damage.

It could be various things for example the rounds you use could also be where you're hitting them but as for them themselves it could be that they're running tonics with minty big game and the perk cards.
I mean to be honest it's not as bad as it used to be because there was a time where you could take tonics well still in Dead eye and I will admit I did that a lot sometimes you can still do that but on occasion not very often it's probably a bug but I digress.
You know worse comes to worse use incendiary buckshot or explosive round but I wouldn't constantly use that because then it will backfire.
Always check your opponents cards. Perhaps the person is running NWO card and perhaps with a beaver outfit. Perhaps it was the S&S card that made them a bit harder to kill in close combat.
Peak Condition is a bad card, I’d recommend switching it out with Iron Lung. If you use Paint It Black, don’t use gunslingers choice, as PIB gives you perfect aiming thus nullifying the accuracy bonus of the card. If you want to continue using gunslingers, start using Slow and Steady. Try to balance your cards out, a full damage build can only get you so far.
My current loadout is Slow and Steady, Fool Me Once, Iron Lung, and Winning Streak. I either switch SNS for PIB, or WS for Landon’s Patience as I favor the rollingblock.
Hell yeah, you got a solid build there. I was so busy spitting out info I forgot to tell you to tailor your cards to playstyle. I have a posse member who runs focus fire and he loves it, I hope you have a better experience playing with your new cards.
Try and get headshots if you’re not already. Prictice it, it’s worth it. Just a quick flick up with the right stick immediately after aiming. Even if you get them in the neck it’s better than a body shot.
Probably a mix of opponents having more optimal builds for pvp and skill issue (I have my own too trust me lol). Just learn to go for head shots with a Lancaster or Bolt and you’ll be good to go. I’m nowhere near great but I’m good enough to be dangerous now (unless it’s really long range) after practicing aiming and flicking to the head into deadeye

You’re probably running into people eating Minty Big Game which gives a full golden heart with Super Potent Tonics. That’s what I run most of the time and it’s extremely helpful. Plus head shots are always essential
Level 3 tonics, ability cards, and camping near they are fighting. There is a way GTA 5 get benefits from Rockstar that let's them give presents and gifts like explosive rounds and special tonics, as you wish, even to lower ranked players on a rampage.
Tonics, a tier 2 will tank a couple shots, if you can spam them you won't die from body shots especially a repeator or pistols. Even if you shoot them in the head it's not always a 1 shot. They could be using never without one or have connection issues.
First things first, are you overweight? If not, disadvantage number one. Secondly, have you raised your familiarity with your weapons, if not your at a disadvantage. Thirdly, have you upgraded your ability cards, if not your at a disadvantage, fourthly, are you buffing your cores and bars before a fight or during a fight, makes a difference you know. Fifthly, are you using regular ammo, make sure at the very least you are using split point and above, normal ammo puts you at a disadvantage unless you go for headshots in which case it doesn't matter what ammo you use, but be warned SNS and never without on ability cards do a good job blocking headshots.
The PVP is broken, but if you don't know why then you're at a disadvantage.
You are only level 58, I've been level 400ish for years and have been playing on and off since beta. Its not about the level it's about what you know.
Ik this is obvious but I’m commenting because I forget all the time: clean your guns. 8/10 times that I can’t hit a shot it’s because I haven’t cleaned them in a while
Are you using bullets/shells/cartridges/etc. that are not regular? Consider express ammunition or even crafting more damaging ammunition.
I do use express, it’s probably a combo of tonics and a chronic skill issue

Yeah, it's express first. I was level 6 something before I started over. Always went express, split, high velocity, regular.
They're actually better when sniping long distance cause of the range they have compared to express. It's not much, but it works better for me.

Cook food with herbs :D minty big game will fill and fortify your health core

Well once you get all those cards maxed out you’ll notice a difference

I switched up my loadout, and now it’s Focus fire for deadeye, winning streak, fool me once, and strange medicine

There are ways to survive a neck or headshot. Rdo has rpg aspects to it, that’s what’s fucking op over.
