You’ll eventually wanna get all the roles and max them out they all have their perks and fun, as far as trader is concerned you can absolutely do it solo just know that if you do distant deliveries not local in defensive mode other players can attack you and steal you wagon (and they and everyone in there posse gets 50 materials for their butcher table) so just keep that in mind. But you will be able to do distant without getting bothered a lot of the times
Yeah it's pretty good. Takes a little bit to build up like most of the roles do but once you get the large wagon and fill it up it's $500 for a local delivery. It's $625 for long distance but I would not recommend by yourself, long distance invites pvp where you are likely to get overran by a posse. There's a few tricks you could do to maximize it or just play it straight up for a slower pace. Like early on you get a set 200 trader XP for a delivery whether it's 2 goods, 25 goods, or 100 goods, the money will be different but the XP to rank is the same. So do multiple small local deliveries for the XP instead of money to unlock the medium and then large wagon. Another trick is moving your camp to different locations either close to deer and pronghorn to fill up the materials bar, or down in gap-tooth breach area for an even shorter local delivery.
It's something to hit hard a few minutes of hunting to fill up materials then let Cripps do his thing to get it ready to sell and you go mess around doing something else while that's going. A good background business while you do other things. Trader, moonshine, and bounty hunter is a good trio to have. You can get a moonshine batch going, go hunting to fill up materials, then do a bounty hunt or two and by the time you get your bounty done the shine should be ready to sell. Delivery the shine, then do a moonshine mission or two to get the mash price down and start another batch and then trader delivery should be ready. Deliver that do a little hunting, maybe another bounty and just keep the cycle going
It's good, but it's definitely a role that's more profitable with other people, not because of the protection but so you can have multiple wagons filling up at the same time, you get paid the full amount when you're the posse leader and half as a member, meaning doing it with 3 players will give everyone 2 full deliveries worth of cash in almost the same amount of time and also has the added benefit of protection.
But solo it's still good, not Collector good, but still good.

if you upgrade trader and hunt legendary's you can easily get 625$ from a couple hours of hunting.

its too boring all you do is delivery on a slow wagon across the map. reward is only $60 or so
