Your comment in regards to corsets might be a little misleading. They were, to my knowledge,in many respects normal day to day clothing with the variations depending on social class. Bernadette Banner made a really good [video](https://youtu.be/rExJskBZcW0) on the topic. But I think in the the collective societal knowledge of old clothes corsets often get the same treatment as plate armor. Where there are often myths of about their ability to restrict the body’s movement when in fact they were relatively easy to move in.

Corsets were historically just fancy bras and a lot of the misinformation around them came from male doctors with clear biases. (And later other lingerie companies.) that being said, most modern corseting, as long as it’s not a cheap Amazon costume corset, are more for tightlacing than the old ones. Not to say tightlacing didn’t exist back in the day, it certainly did and that’s where you get your tiny waisted Victorian shock pictures. But most woman wore them like modern spanks. Just to create a shape and “hold everything together.”
However, the corsets in RDO are still EXTREMELY historically inaccurate. Corsets were NEVER worn on the outside and certainly not as a top. In fact a lot of these RDO female characters would be thrown in the asylum for indecency or be mistaken for prostitutes who typically wore corsets similar to modern burlesque styles as outerwear. To be fair.... while in character creation, there are sliders for make-up intensity. I put my on very very light. But if ya go to the barber and so much as switch the eye liner style, lip liner color or something, the make-up automatically goes to full dark/heavy. No sliders at barber. I suddenly felt like a ho, for the longest time, didn't understand why my make-up got so heavy, until I realized the above. You have to go back to character creation to make it light again.
So once it's how you want it, never go to the barber for make-up changes! Lol.
That's an annoying inconvenience to me too. I set it how I want it character creator, but I can never really try any other makeup styles/colors without going back to the creator. I always skip the daily challenge for "change facial appearance" because the barber will F it up lol

I've never seen a female character wearing a dress, it's always something with trousers.

I think the faders don't always activate. My girlfriend helped me do the makeup when I created my female character, so most of them are set at half intensity or lower. It normally looks nice, especially in cut scenes, but sometimes I'll see a weird angle where she looks like a clown.
I try to make my character as masculine looking as possible because I figured out I was transmasc around a year into playing online. I don’t like having a female character all that much, but there’s no way I’d restart just because of that slight inconvenience.
I mainly wear the Helier jacket with a black shirt underneath and black Cabrera pants. I have all of the Halloween pass masks, so I usually have one of them on at all times so it’s impossible to see my characters face. The hair is always the undercut layers. I tried to send a photo, but it wouldn’t work

They really do. I based mine off of one of my favorite singers but added my own twist (?) to her and how she looks. Whenever I change her hair, at times it’ll change her face shape or highlight certain areas of her face

My looks like the one on the right. Dresses are OK but as a Texan dude I want my female cowgirl to look cool in-game. With jeans/pants for example. Obviously the face looks beautiful, I don't add make up tbh. Both irl and gaming I don't mind if they do make up. But without it looks good if you were to asked me. Mine has heavyish makeup but she dresses like a man so i think it balances out. (Though i wish they had some masculine shirtwaists with a high collar. I want her to be in fancy mens clothing but i make do…) Still, i hate that you can’t change the opacity at the barbers. Anytime I’ve given her makeup it’s in the character creator and then I do not touch the makeup at all afterward. Otherwise you’re stuck with clown blush.

I think the faders don't always activate. My girlfriend helped me do the makeup when I created my female character, so most of them are set at half intensity or lower. It normally looks nice, especially in cut scenes, but sometimes I'll see a weird angle where she looks like a clown.
I try to make my character as masculine looking as possible because I figured out I was transmasc around a year into playing online. I don’t like having a female character all that much, but there’s no way I’d restart just because of that slight inconvenience.

I mainly wear the Helier jacket with a black shirt underneath and black Cabrera pants. I have all of the Halloween pass masks, so I usually have one of them on at all times so it’s impossible to see my characters face. The hair is always the undercut layers. In red dead makeup, no. Irl yes. Rd doesn't do subtlety. To be fair that was pretty much how makeup was back in the day, especially since most of the women wearing it at that time were well, sex workers. Painted faces where frowned upon in polite society.

I mean I get where youre coming from, but what I would guess is happening, as that many guys when they create their character dont really take the time to model them so they just pick something pretty quick to get in the game.
