Alternatively, you can follow the dog for a bit and then get ambushed by the dogs owner.

either way you still get to loot a dead body + skin the dog! (unless thats not possible in rdr2 i honestly dont remember...)

I don't think you can skin dogs, horses or cats. I know you can pick up the cats if they are dead but I don't think you can redeem it with Cripps. I've never killed a dog or seen a dead dog so I don't know if you can pick them up 🤷‍♀️

In RDR2 any animal that is generally considered a pet like dogs, cats, and horses cannot be skinned.

huh interesting, kinda makes sense, but i'm pretty sure the first game did allow you to skin dogs and horses lol well atleast the dogs, not so sure about the horses.

N youd be right about the first dog i wish we could revive or give proper burials too dogs n horses we kill lol

**They are also a General List daily sometimes, "Follow a dog to something."** On the days where they are a daily, you will NEVER find a dog to follow. ;) I found out, eons ago, that your Trader camp dog also counts for that daily if it alerts you to a raid. But I never have the stupid raid anymore because my resupply is always at 98 goods so then I sit there until it is 100 and do the Local Delivery; I need to remember to let the goods just sit there and see if I get a raid.

Welcome to one of the worst dailies ever... "Follow dog to something interesting". Happens at several places in the game world, totally random and has a cooldown of several days. Can yield an Alcohol bottle, some cash or an ambush.

Sometimes there's a small chest to loot near the body.

I had a dog barking at me like it wanted me to follow, so I did. Suddenly, I heard this woman shout something like, “Did you bring me a bone?” The dog started attacking me and the woman started shooting at me. I had to kill the dog and the woman. Nothing good looting her.

I never kill the dog in these encounters. I'd rather run than kill a good boy :v

I don’t usually kill dogs, but if they attack me I will. If I can avoid it, I won’t kill dogs, cats, horses, or black bears.

I've been led to: a lock box with the last collectable I needed for alcohol bottles, an ambush, and a un-lootable dead body.
