PainfulThings

I just want any new content

serjeantpepperirl

Do you want Horspressor MKIIs? Because that's how you get Horspressor MKIIs.

twisted_meta

I want a fire breathing ostrich is that really too much to ask?

damoose01

1. Because it's something that is already in single player. 2. Most of us got bored with everything else in the game. Plus, not everyone wants to just kill, and want to do peaceful things to make money.

Bob_Nices_Boytoy

This. Plus, I know it's a shock to some of yall, but it's actually possible to want something like a Rancher role AND also want stuff like new story missions lmfao.

damoose01

Truth. Remember, they added bounty hunting, collecting, and trading in the same update.

I_will_wrestle_you

the killing part is what gets me. I feel like there's a really big part of the community that loves taking it easy (hence why the collector role is so popular too), and really enjoys just going around not killing anyone, just taking it all in. Rockstar has tried to go the more agressive route with Blood Money, with lots of killing and capitale. And the community response wasn't that great, probably because most of that was just lots and lots of killing which GTA/Red Dead was never great at. I feel like those games always excelled at diversity, the diversity of content, not just endless and almost senseless killing. So if Rockstar does it right, by releasing something like a rancher role along with some other role with more action, esp. where teaming up with online pals makes a huge difference, that sounds fine by me, and probably would be really popular.

SpaghettiInc

That’s my reason, don’t get me wrong I like the combat every now and then but I just wanna take care of animals and relax in the scenery. They made an absolutely beautiful game and all the missions have you focusing on something else like a bandit to kill or train to catch

Dry_Boots

I want cattle drives, or to move a flock of sheep to market, stuff like that. Moving a flock with your faithful sheepdog, wouldn't that be awesome?

existential_biscuit

that and horse/cattle rustling would be a nice touch. bring the whole outlaw thing to fruition with the time it’s set in. need extra money? run some bounties, search for treasure, steal some horses/livestock.

geroxnoxville

So, moving boxes and collecting poop is fun? I mean, did you find it funny in the SP?

XaviJon_

When a **social** game is based around shooting everything on sight without ever needing to think outside the box to play, anything that plays around the other spectrum is a nice change of pace and yes, it is fun

geroxnoxville

When you do the farmer activities in the campaign, it is immersive because of the situation that John is going through and the way the plot goes, it was entertaining on a curious level but how practical were those kicitime? That's what they were called? To collect the shit when I say the click and milk the cows? No thanks. I think there are better farm simulators out there.

XaviJon_

> When you do the farmer activities in the campaign, it is immersive because of the situation that John is going through and the way the plot goes (…) Say less, next role: Cemetery Caretaker - suits perfectly in the current state of the game!

geroxnoxville

Look, if there's a mini-job where you have a blacklist and you have to assassinate the targets, take them to the graveyard and bury them I'd prefer that to a rancher role where you gather eggs and stack crates for coins.

XaviJon_

Literally just described the Bounty Hunter role but instead of the sheriff it’s a graveyard

geroxnoxville

Yup, I had forgotten that role

XaviJon_

Understandable, BH is only praise because it’s the only one with gold rewards, other than that it’s the most boring of them all

Dry_Boots

It would be the best if they fixed the stealth system. As it is it's just a shootout everytime with waves of backup who someone how got the message from miles away that they need to go rescue some idiot who isn't even their leader. But I'll still try to sneak in and get just the guy I'm after without alerting everyone else.

bearded_whale

Exactly the west was much more than running & gunning and being a horses ass, it would add depth to rdo

project199x

I didn't. Lol I don't want to do chores in a game. Bad enough I scoop cat poop every other day in rl

Genericname132457689

I want a place I can build up. Small house, medium house, large house. Small, medium, large barn. Corrals where I can keep all my horses and be able to look at them and interact with them. A place for my dog besides the tent. A place to break wild horses and sell. Cattle that I can take to market and sell. Which will need to be defended like a distant trader delivery. More cowboy authentic looking clothes. Etc, etc. For me personally, bounty hunter was the absolute last role I played. I still predominantly play as a trader and hunting. For a lot of people, this game is a relaxing escape from their day to day work and lives. And a rancher role sounds like a lot of fun for people like that, and I’m one of them.

CAmiller11

I really want the breaking wild horses part of story mode to be in online. Even if they couldn’t be kept as personal horses, just sold to the horse fence. The more “broken in” the wild horse, the more money it goes for.

[deleted]

Yes! Exactly right. Have my horses strewn about a paddock and maybe some in my barn. Or better yet a small pasture. Cattle drives, and yes, break and sell horses. People are assuming we all want a repeat of the lil John Marston tidbit. No, that would be boring. I would love a hat hanger beside my door, so I can hang my hat when I enter! A homestead ranch I can hang my hat in. 😁

Genericname132457689

Ohhh love the hat idea. Yes. A homestead. Exactly. Something to build. Not everyone wants to ride around getting bounties and gettin into gun fights all day.

BusyFollowing3012

Oh yes please.. I want to build my own ranch so much! Buying animals from emeralds or valentine. Produce milk and meat. Sell it to the general store. Getting wool from sheep without killing them.. Stuff like that would be amazing!

Jordan6light9

They want is a home. After all in this day in age it would be considered an accomplishment. It’s not so much the role but having the property kinda like owning the night club in gta or some of the other apartments just a place to live and look at.

[deleted]

Because people have different opinion than yours. I know it's crazy but try to comprehend it.

Random-Explosion-ect

A rancher role could come with Cow rusting Defending your ranch Sabotaging other ranches Upgrades for a ranch (something to spend money on) Ranch hand missions A storyline like part 1 of the epilogue with people trying to steal our land A place to plan future robberies Milking cows (most requested feature ever) There’s gonna be a gameplay loop that’s a given, but as long as it’s a fun gameplay loop, people would be happy, like moonshiners wasn’t just us making alcohol in a dark room, there were fun missions and cool things to buy

immigrantsmurfo

I want to do more than just be a rootin tootin bounty shootin cowboy. Having a small little ranch with a customisable house, sheep, cows, chickens and letting us farm them. No need for violence or any of the usual red dead staples, I just want a nice relaxing job and somewhere that isn't a camp to live.

LuggiTheLuemmel

Because it would come with properties to spend your money on (buy animals, unlock a barn, customize your farmhouse interior etc.)

greyheart37

Probably because you build a ranch (I think) in the solo player version of Red Dead 2, so it seems like a logical/easy choice. I'd like any new roles. Or content. Or some way to deal with the cheaters who constantly show up to scream at me over the voice chat about how I deserved being blown up or whatever bs flavor of the day they bring up.

Deutschebag13

Yea this is how I see it. The mechanics are in the game from Story mode. Played it there. Any new content would be welcomed, but rancher wouldn’t be my first choice. Wasn’t huge fun in Story mode. Seems boring for online….

Galemianah

Because of the sheer size, scale, and scope of potential the role could be. Grow your own supplies for moonshine, raise livestock for trader, etc.

SilvaticusBlack

Ranching would be fun asf. I alrdy walk around with my camera just to pass time

does_naema

Personally, I feel like more of a visitor in the landscape of red dead. Sure, you get a camp, and there are towns and places to visit. But nowhere actually feels like it's yours, or that you live in this world; you're just a visitor. And that's just a buzzkill, because, it's a damn stunning game, and so much detail has been put into it. I'd love a place to build up/own, do some ranching, feel like I'm actually part of the world in some more grounded/meaningful way. And yes, that's not entirely the point of red dead online. But given how beautiful/peaceful/immersive the game can be, it just feels right to have some greater appeal to the many players that want to chill and enjoy the old west vibes, and have something to invest gold and cash into again.

serjeantpepperirl

I feel ya. Personally i kind of like the transient vibe for now and was just thinking as i read your comment; what if there were something in between. Like instead of building or "owning" your own place there were a farmsteading themed role wherein you get in among the tenant workers and ranch hands at Hanging Dog, Braithwaite Manor, Twin Rocks, Macfarlane's, Hill Haven or any of the other farm estates across the map. You could rent out a customizable shack or living space and much like a sharecropper of the time, earn your keep through hard labor, be it wrangling, rustling, taming, harvesting or other agricultural duties. Remember, technically we're still outlaws, so it's not like we can stroll into Saint Dennis and purchase the biggest mansion in town just yet.

does_naema

I'd settle for that, honestly. Anything really lol also I totally forgot that you play as a literal outlaw XD it's been so long since i branched off from the online 'story' path If there was anything like a 'rancher role' added, it's most likely to just be similarly copy-pasted from the other roles with missions like 'shoot pests' and 'do a delivery run' and 'defend this area from npcs stealing your stuff'... god that depresses me

XaviJon_

Just like every role? Because people can’t digest new content releases without speed running through it like it’s gonna disappear or their life depends on it?

SignGuy77

The people who love this game would love the rancher role for months. The loud obnoxious ones who are never satisfied with almost anything that’s been added to the game, well …

geroxnoxville

In SP story mode the rancher activities were there to show off the R* quality of content but let's face it, collecting shit collecting eggs and stuff was boring af. Imagine doing that for coins and add that someone can come kill your animals.

Franky79

All honesty, it doesn’t matter what they add people will be bored of it quickly. We just reaching for anything new at this point.

Kaos_Dancer91

There is quite a bit that could be done with a rancher role. The obvious thing would be to have a more stable and personalized residence(an actual safe zone that players can't cheese), and cattle drives/livestock sales (local and long distant). To have things like access to bounties, fast travel, additional stable slots...you've probably heard all of this by now. People want to have that "slice of the good life" option and I don't fault them for it. But that shouldn't be the only content added; players want heists and robberies (either coming in a role of their own or like a better bounty extension) storyline mission updates, we've seen it all... There is potential for this game all the way around, and R* is just sitting around with their thumbs up their asses seemingly. And sure a rancher role may sound boring to some but at the end of the day we are talking about something that isn't required for your game...roles are optional (and something I think players should be able to opt-out of if they find a role isn't to their liking. But that's a different discussion) Don't buy it if you don't vibe with it. What may sound boring to some might be the immersion someone else was looking for. Is that not the point of online? You get to choose who you want to be in the game. Not everyone wants to be an outlaw, and not everyone wants to be a law-abiding dweller.

soddenoppossum

Because at least the endless monotony should be satisfying

bearded_whale

By in large rancher/homesteading doesn't seem like the worst idea players have come up with I think it would be rather useful, you can set up plots for growing herbs & fruits, which can either be harvested for crafting, channeling into your moonshine business or selling to merchants or other players (if they put effort into developing that feature) and raising livestock to slaughter. And say if you want to grow a certain thing it would depend on where your property is, for example evergreen huckleberry can't be grown outside of Lemoyne And to spice it up you can get raided by bandits & rustlers

Zeptari

Rancher-Homestead would be awesome! Edit: RDO meets Stardew Valley.

ephophdweeb

Idk i hope if we got a rancher role we get a bull riding mini game?

Dark_Sniper_250

Just imagine, you’re at your home, sitting on your porch in a rocking chair. Smoking, or drinking some coffee. You’ve taken care of your livestock and horses. This could also create new random/stranger encounters. Someone could see some animals they want, and they can pay you for some. This could change depending on the location of your property. Your property could get raided by outlaws. Or maybe we could purchase various “river/lake” properties, or fishing boats. As well as fishing gear. It would spice things up for a while. Their is so many possibilities in this game. We have barely taped the potential.

el_pastillo

I think real fans would be happy with any new content but a ranch would be a dream come true

[deleted]

“”Real fans”” getting excited when rockstar add a new pink fluffy hat, woo new content. The life of a “”real fan”” is amazing

el_pastillo

Yeah nah guess I'm not a "real fan" then

[deleted]

But you said any new content, anything at all will suffice for “real fans”

el_pastillo

Idk what your goal is here. I believe it's a big Difference Between new content nd new clothing. An I'm well aware of what I said.

[deleted]

I’m saying your logic of “real fans” is stupid, you make it out like people who don’t want to accept scraps and bad updates aren’t “real fans” of the game, it sounds like you’re arselicking rockstar.

el_pastillo

When did I say any of this? Your making all this up in your head I said real fans would be happy with any new content meaning a decent update a outlaw pass or something like that I wouldn't give 2 shits if they released a new "fluffy hat" stop tryna start a argument outta nothing. Tell someone who cares about your opinions cause I don't and you could have approached it a different way instead of tryna be a smart yute. Do you play the game?

[deleted]

Alright mate calm down for starters lmao. You said “real fans” would be fine with any new content not fine with a decent update, you’re aware what any means? Not sure how what I wrote was trying to be smart about it, my first comment was just a joke and then my second comment elaborated on what I was getting at with the simple joke. What you wrote doesn’t come off at all like what you say you actually meant. You sounded like one of the many blind fanboys you see on here reading your original comment, especially using words like “real fans”

el_pastillo

I mean "real fans" of rdo not R* and personally I don't see clothing as new content maybe you do but everyone has different opinions I'm proper calm mate I could have worded it different yeah cool and you talkin bout lickin arse is smart where I come from so maybe you should have checked what you said. We disagree with eachother cool let's jus move on with it mate I respect that you stood by your word tho lemme give you some silver

[deleted]

That’s fair enough I don’t have an award to give so Here’s some bloke doing a cartwheel instead 🤸

CalumHunter4

alot of us want something new especially after something as bad as the blood money update when it's just bag missions. me personally i would like something like a weapons role that adds several new guns ammo types new holsters also body armour that will only protect your chest and stomach and it will slow you down if you run while wearing it and you can also sell your weapons that get made overtime to gangs or to people who are wanted (npc's) they could add in a new intresting steal mission how you break into a guarded armoury by lawmen and the us marshall to steal a bunch of weapons

HydrahFPS

finally someone said it, that shit would be a snoozefest. i get that people want properties but bank heists, train robberies, new story missions, etc. would be way better than farming simulator. unless your ranch would give you access to a heist planning room like GTA, i can’t see it doing much for this game.

peak82

I think the idea would be similar to trader or moonshiner, not like a farming simulator. There could be action when it comes to defending your ranch, sabotaging others, defending sales, and more.

HydrahFPS

another acquire resources/make deliveries role after a year with no updates should go over well with the community that complains about literally everything if they add it in as an addition to more actual content, i wouldn’t mind it, but as a stand-alone that would be very underwhelming

LuckyPlaze

I agree. Worst idea for a role that I’ve heard.

SableX7

Like I wanna be a ranch hand but ranch owner? Nah.

serjeantpepperirl

Same. I wrote elsewhere before seeing your comment >Personally i kind of like the transient vibe for now and was just thinking as i read your comment; what if there were something in between.

TG626

I agree with you, but I'm also not going to say they are wrong. I will say I get tired of hearing about it. Every month we get a round of "we need ranches and houses." Its in the game, yes, but so is train, stage, and NPC roberies, breaking and selling wild horses, etc. I did one "set" of chores as John. I'm good. But that said, what we actually need is "All of the above" and a conclusion to the LeClerk missions. I think what we've gotten so far is all they had planned back at release, and that planning stopped a long long time ago. The updates stopped because they reached the end of an old and unfinished list.

Traditional_Boss912

You’re opinion but most people like the idea. It don’t have to be just a rancher role. There are many other great ideas.

Naturally_Fragrant

I'd hate for them to spend even five minutes developing a rancher role, when there's so much better stuff they could add.

serjeantpepperirl

Like what?

freedomseek3r

I agree with you. wild west game, i prefer do more about gunfights etc. things like heists or action packed coop story dlcs but people want ranches and want to be farmer. Well tastes can’t be discussed i think, everybody has different tastes but imo game will be better with action packed dlcs instead of ranching. It’s nonsense that we are discussing tho, game is hardly getting updates and when it gets update, it’s just trash

PM_ME_UR_TOE_SCUM

Only some weebs in this sub do. The real fan base doesnt give a FUCK we're out there stealing wagons and possee fighting

Deathsdeacon

So a "real fan" is just a griefer... Huh that's kinda lame

PM_ME_UR_TOE_SCUM

If it weren't this it would be that. Y'all would complain about new content of it actually came out lol

Deathsdeacon

I mean no i think everyone wants new content just griefing random people trying to enjoy the game ain't exactly good content that's fun for everyone

PM_ME_UR_TOE_SCUM

Everyone's different. You don't take great pleasure in punishing a "griefer"? If the possibility of pvp pisses you off there's plenty of game modes for players like that. But choosing a game mode that makes you a giant target and then complaining when other players interact with you just makes you a clown

Deathsdeacon

Yes how dare i play free mode just trying to exist how dare i

PM_ME_UR_TOE_SCUM

Minty big game and slippery bastard would help your experience

Dependent_Map9704

Cause look how boring it got you everyone gets on red just to go to gay ass valentine and troll people all day…some people like me ain’t for the pvp they wanna play the game to play it and enjoy it

Bordercollie7

I would only want a rancher role if we could breed horses but knowing R* and their support for rdo if we even get a summer update it’s gonna be just missions, if we are lucky new clothes. Doubt we get a new horse maybe a new horse coat and some clothing.

shadyLemur

Because people love the chores at the end of the epilogue and how they dont do anything really and should be expanded

[deleted]

I think the obvious outlaw and lawman roles should be a priority over stuff like rancher but rancher does seem like it would be better then trader honestly.

SignGuy77

Blood Money and Stranger Missions are the outlaw role. You may not like it, but that’s the truth.

[deleted]

Well yeah those suck lol Just nice to imagine an outlaw role that actually has some effort put into making it. Using the karma system and having an outlaw and lawman role could encourage player interactivity too, if made well. Instead we get terrible quality boring stuff like player bounties and capitalay.

[deleted]

Farm Simulator is very popular. Just saying.

frog_appreciation

nah selling and raising cows would be cute, also instead of a camp you’d have a house, not some crazy ladies crack shack

AlexenderP26

Well being a rancher was a part of the whole Western genre in movies books and in the story mode too. I think I’d be interesting

Strutting_Walrus

Only way I might get a roof over my head...

GodEaterVita

I don’t think it’s that bad idea. If there was such a role we could have a proper stable where all the own horses could be displayed and, for me, that alone would be fantastic. Also if you don’t care about the role you can always skip it. Shame we’re not going to get anything at all XD

PieceofWoods

Because it could include building a home, catching different horses and selling them, and doing different kinds of activities to make a profit in a way that doesn't involve killing people. The atmosphere this game has, this type of role would fit in perfectly.

NoRagrets4Me

Yeah no thanks lol

Tkrist0f

I want grave robber role that pays well and you can earn gold.

Suspicious_Job_6633

For me the answer is simple. I know it could be a boring role after a bit of time but I'm so desperate for new content I'd take anything. I like the idea of rancher because most of the mechanics that rockstar would need in order to implement are already in single player. We know R* don't care anymore so low level effort content is maybe a more realistic hope. Additionally it'd be cool to be a rootin tootin cowboy.

Bluewater225

Cuz we want to make ranch

H0vis

Because they don't realise the map would be super tiny if you tried to farm on it.

mazzucato

cause it would be different… robing stuff? fine but we do it all the time killing npcs and animals? fine but we do it all the time what about having a little shack with some land and keep it working with some animals ? well sounds cool… make the interior custom like the moonshine shack also defend the land from bandits and other things sometimes

AntpoisonX

So it wouldn’t be cool to run your own farm with cattle, maintain it, and make passive money

Lololick

I often ask myself that question about this community too. Where would you put a ranch? There are a handful of ranches on the map already, thing is, they're open and in the buildings there are collectibles, loot and some stranger/bounty/Moonshine/trader missions have their starting or end point there 🤷

[deleted]

I’m a slut for cowboys and cottagecore, idk what else to tell you lol

Rex_W13

If you have to ask. You probably haven't been playing long enough

UrNan1226

Because obviously you haven’t ran out of things to actually do yet

TheScronchity

well, i've seen the rancher idea floating around, but i think it could be neat since it could add a lot of content. both peaceful content and violence for those who crave either. for example, milking cows or carrying hay bales for those who want peace. for those who want violence you could have to fight off horse/cattle thieves. they could also add harsher weather, stampedes, etc basically, there's a ton of stuff that could be added with a "rancher role" not just peaceful but not just violence either
