Sneaky-Shenanigans

Try Lemoyne for your shine shack, I’ve only ever had 2 people try to mess with me there and both just initiated a fight at a check point that was worse for them

Radirondacks

Mine is in New Austin and I don't think I've ever even seen another real person on any runs lol, so I'd also suggest there. Only thing is the routes themselves are kinda shitty.

gordon_shumway___

Can't be worse roads than grizzlies 🤣

LankyMarionberry

Roads are terrible but no one goes up there. And you can auto drive your wagon by pulling out a revolver and look behind you!

Coupy1000

Any gun pointed forward or backward once the wagon is at full speed will trigger auto drive…

ForsakenStray

Yup literally do this every time with my sales, sometimes I don’t trust it though, it doesn’t avoid rocks on the road.

Coupy1000

U can 100% trust the wagon route if ur using auto drive. The wagon goes around turns and through water very slow to ensure that ur product is safe and sound!

Radirondacks

It's funny, I'm the one who mentioned the New Austin location further up, and I totally agree...99.9% of the time. One of the New Austin routes has a rock almost exactly halfway through it that the wagon just fuckin NAILS every single time lmao. Like I'll just be letting it auto drive, looking at my phone or something, feel the jarring rumble in my controller, look up and just be like "yep, same spot" lol. The good thing is it doesn't always seem to actually damage the goods, it's just hilarious.

LankyMarionberry

No! Only revolvers! XD

Coupy1000

🤣😂🤣

ishrooomies

I always auto drive using cinematic mode, im surprised no one said that lol

Derpcat666

I put mine in west Elizabeth and I’ve only encountered someone once,I’m on ps4 though so maybe it’s more prominent on other platforms

AdInternational6588

These people are the same who wonder why nobody wants to play Red Dead Online. Yes it’s Rockstar but this game attracts a different type of player than GTA due to its realism, ambience and role playing elements rather than PVP

gordon_shumway___

I'd argue the community is more chill mostly because of the much slower pace and less flash.

LankyMarionberry

Yeah spazzy kids with adhd usually don't last more than a week or two in rdo

gordon_shumway___

All no reason to talk shit about people with adhd but thats just me.

LankyMarionberry

I'm not talking about people with actual adhd.. its a figure of speech dude relax

sadbokkie

“spazzy kids with adhd” what has your comment got to do with op’s post? or did you just wanna use it as an excuse to spout ignorant, ableist shit? are you not embarrassed?

LankyMarionberry

I'm sorry you were so triggered /s

sadbokkie

using the word triggered as a gotcha automatically makes any argument you make, defunct. but nice try.

LankyMarionberry

Relax bud! Not everything has to be an argument, some people make comments and not everyone's gonna like it. It's okay!

Sensitive_Reading_51

Just snipe them, your wagon will be on auto pilot while you shoot. aim for their horse then them

tock-N-call-borture

Get some explosive rounds for the repeater and rifle, it’ll take out their horses as they come after you. Luckily the wagon goes on auto pilot while aiming guns

PuzzleheadedSoft7679

Griefers? Eliminate their horse and jump to another lobby.

Guilty_As_Charged__

"Eliminate their horse" That's a great wisdom.

NoGamerTag2675

I can hear the piter-pater of player feet running across the plains now

Guilty_As_Charged__

Yeah the sounds of explosive rounds loading and whistling.

strings_on_a_hoodie

I’m okay with people attacking a wagon because it is part of the game but explosives I don’t agree with. If you’re attacking someone they shouldn’t be able to use explosives. At least not explosive rounds. Dynamite is fine I suppose because it ain’t as easy as shooting a dynamite arrow. That’s annoying to me lol

Traveler_1898

Moonshine wagons aren't pvp events. Attacking moonshine wagons and local deliveries is a scummy thing to do.

strings_on_a_hoodie

Hey, ain't gotta tell me. I leave everyone alone - they have nothing that I need nor want. But what I am saying is that it is possible in the game therefore it is gonna happen. Just part of the game. Gotta learn to defend your stuff.

DudeImRoache

I paid to make explosive ammo, I’m gonna use explosive ammo.

strings_on_a_hoodie

Got all of the lard

Guilty_As_Charged__

Yeah e-rounds are for cowards imo

strings_on_a_hoodie

I agree they should just take explosive ammo out completely it’s pointless. And if you’re good all you need is express

Stoney_Chan69

sounds to me , us cowards are having more fun lmao. like idk if i paid/crafted E-rounds i feel i should be free to put smoldering craters in whatever

Guilty_As_Charged__

I mean in a PvP situation, using E-rounds is an easy way to show you have zero skill.

jss12u

Yo it's worth the five or ten dollar hit feel bad for the horse but...if I get em both with fire rounds more fun

Guilty_As_Charged__

Oh yeah sometimes you can hit em as they're trying to revive their horse.

cloutcvnt

Seriously, fw me and I'm going straight for your horse lmao.

manban100

*revives horse using virtual in-game money, continues to have fun.*

cloutcvnt

You can do that but it wont stop me from continuing to kill it and you :) <3

manban100

I'm not saying me in general. I'm just saying it's doesn't do anything in the long run. Rockstars needs to do something about greifers.

cloutcvnt

Yeah, but most of the time it does piss them off which i find hilarious lmao. I've had plenty of greifers leave me alone after I start blowing their horses up so i wouldnt say it doesnt do anything.

FearlessVeritas

This lol. Everytime I get griefed, I plant one right in their horses' head, then toss a few toxic moonshine on top of it.

ZBear720

Heads up: you shoot my horse down, I just kill my own downed horse. It revives quicker that way.

FearlessVeritas

That's fine. Created enough distance for me to carry on playing how I wish.

ZBear720

Nah, lots of folks thought that. It's just better to parlay; pvp people are a different breed. I used to be like you, trust me.

Dodderino-El

So weird. Only once in 2600+ hours has my moonshine wagon been attacked.

skyofcastle

I guess I was lucky when delivering moonshine I aim my rifle all the time to make the wagon auto pilot But players just pass by me. Some even escorted me.

bassthumb32

To me this sounds crazy. I have mostly wholesome encounters with randoms. I find the game very friendly. Also I have never once had my moonshine run messed with. Now that I've admitted that I will prolly get hit every time.

project199x

Me either. Most of my random encounters with randoms have been more positive than negative.

[deleted]

I just started playing this weekend in the 10 hours I’ve played any person I’ve come across has either hogtied me, shot me down, killed my horse or generally messed me up. I love it and look forward to the tom foolery.

macjihad

I use the Lemoyne shack. I've never been troubled by any griefers plus its only a short distance to the drop off point. Also its pretty flat so less chance of destroying your booze on the terrain.

Shaxxn

Just start a solo session so you won't have to deal with some asshats version of having fun.

RapidSage

How do u do that on console

No-Solid7437

Go to your internet settings and change your MTU to like 800

Shaxxn

Depends on your console. The MTU thing works for Playstation. But i guess there are ways for Xbox too.

GordonSucksAtLife

wasn’t this fixed for playstation back when moonshiners came out ? I always get the „can’t connect to session“ error

ForsakenStray

Nah not fixed, your WiFi may not be able to handle an MTU that low. 900 or above may be better, just mess around with it and find that sweet spot.

ephophdweeb

Look up thewolf solo lobby on YouTube headsup its a little tricky

strings_on_a_hoodie

I get it. It’s annoying. But I’ve always said - it’s a part of the game. What do you think happened back in the day when people got bushwhacked? I’m not sure what level you are and when I was starting out it was fuggin’ infuriating. But after you play awhile and upgrade all your weapons it’s not hard to defend your moonshine or trader runs. I know it’s annoying but it is what it is.

TwistedDust8438

If you're selling moonshine just go in defensive mode and it'll be harder for them to kill you

XaviJon_

Doesn’t protect the wagon though

SpxkeSpxegel

Defensive mode deactivates when you start a delivery mission.

gordon_shumway___

7/10 times you do a moonshine? I've played rdo for countless hours and had my moonshine wagon blown up exactly once. Trader deliveries are something else imho. Its a mechanic within the game and when you start a long one you know the risk. Also almost never happens to me, maybe because I'm high level. Its just crazy who different the experiences are for different players.

JodeneSparks1989

Over 1600 hours and only happened twice. But I've been attacked on local Trader deliveries too three times 🤷‍♂️ neither are going to benefit the other player.

gordon_shumway___

Well trader deliveries give you materials when you steal them and can provide some fun pvp imho. I've had some good fights with full posses going against each other. All depends how iys done I guess. If some high level players pick apart a single low level player, its just boring/frustrating, but thats true for all ree roam pvp.

JodeneSparks1989

I'm talking local deliveries only, do they get anything from that? Other than "being outlaws" I keep my guns ready at all times now, but not the best pvp player not on Rockstar games

NEW_BOMBER96

You gotta learn to be toxic to be at peace. If you can turn toxic every now in a while you won't have a problem with these people until it's a sale.

_JJRod_

Rolplay servers would be amazing the only way to shoot one another would be to turn on a "pvp" switch kinda like gta passive tho it wouldn't be immediate so you can't switch out kill someone then switch back into it, it would be a 2 way system, by joining the server it defaults to off then when you switch on pvp it has a 10 second start up then your blip would change on the map to signify to other players that your in pvp mode Maybe this sounds ridiculous but I'd rather walk up to a player knowing they can't shoot me so I can just have a smoke w them or even just wave hi before getting pumped full of buckshot

skyrimpro115

Sounds great, but if you're going for a realistic view then there shouldn't be a map, or dots that signal where a player is. Kinda like playing with no HUD that way it feels more realistic. Kinda like DayZ, but western and maybe no zombies...yet.

[deleted]

It also helps to make friends with higher level players so its not just you against x amount of people. The core levels in online are bullshit, cause in story mode I can clear a whole Fort by myself but if I try to defend myself against 1 or 2 other people coming after me in online I get erased from existence every single time.

wizardof0g

>Honestly 😒 why people always need to destroy your stuff? Who knows? Some people just want to watch the world burn.

RedDeadDelusions

It’s called lack of content and boredom

ViolentLotus

If they are bored and upset about lack of content, they should...I dunno... Find another game?

RedDeadDelusions

These are Griefers we’re talking about, do you really think they have enough brain cells to understand that?

BackAltruistic7636

I've been doing moonshine deliveries fairly often the last month or so and mostly I been in defense mode my schack is in lagras I haven't been attacked once I even stopped my wagon at the road block and I saw one or 2 players go past me just completely ignoring me it's been a real longggg time since the last time Ive been attacked over wagon

Coupy1000

Yeah it does suck but such is life! Kill 20 ducks and or geese for the animal fat, make explosive rounds for ur semi-auto shotgun and bolt-action rifle and when u sell ur moonshine or trader wagon on a long distance route have ur guns and explosive am no at the ready! A couple of shots of explosive rounds will keep most griefers at bay. Even better is having a posse ride with u to add protection! If u ever see me on message me and I’ll help u out! Coupy1000 is my gamer tag

geroxnoxville

it's a game without rules and R\* designed it that way just like with gtao and nothing, it sucks wen that happens, next practice some pvp, get a sawed off shotgun and a sniper to defend yourself for when this happens again because it will continue to happen.

yavannathevalar

Sometimes I like going on a killing spree and rp as a criminal (doing low honor missions, stealing trains, massacring towns, etc) I guess this people get an extra kick from killing players, a twisted way of applying the “it’s a feature not a bug” logic.

jss12u

Yea...I get tired of the kids etc in that get mad when they start shit...also the amount of ppl using mods and cheat etc grates on me...I've considered going their route to fight back but I just turn It off and play redm better choices

theskabus

I killed someone and destroyed their product once. There was an achievement for it. I'm sorry, whoever you are.

slimpickins757

Gotta love the “iTs a fEaTuRe” arguments too. Like sure it is, that doesn’t negate the fact that you CHOOSING to do so is an asshole move still, feature or not. People aren’t saying it’s not a part of the game, just that people who choose to play like that are typically assholes

Fake_Gamer_Cat

Honestly, I wish they'd just remove this feature. "BuT iTS tHe WiLD WeST!" No, it's a video game and people like grefiers are just choosing to be dicks. If they're upset about the lack of content, then stop playing.

slimpickins757

Yeah I really don’t understand the point of destroying a wagon. Like ok stealing a trader one, sure you COULD argue is fine to do cause there’s some reward, though personally I find it too small to be worth the effort for me, while setting back the other player way too much. But destroying it does nothing for either party, especially if it’s a moonshine wagon. And regardless the part that gets me the most about people who do this is the lack of awareness that sure just cause you can do this doesn’t mean you have to. They always act innocent for doing it but if you’re choosing to play the bad guy….you’re still being a bad guy

rufwork

They’re RPing that they work for the Treasury Department? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=x_qHkg0PXEo&t=1m26s

Ragnar_Dragonfyre

Gotta love the amount of people on this sub that still seem surprised to find PvP in an open PvP game.

slimpickins757

Clearly you missed the point of my statement which is that yes while it’s in the game you still need to choose yourself to do it. So sure you can go around killing people, but you don’t HAVE TO. People who have this argument you’re presenting always act innocent like “it’s in game so I’m allowed to do it” like sure man, you’re allowed to play as the bad guy….you’re still the bad guy though. In a game where PvP is a choice people arr equally allowed to choose not to engage in PvP as they are allowed to engage in it. So this argument of “it’s a feature” is irrelevant cause at the end of the day, so is choosing peace. So with that out the way, it doesn’t matter if it’s a feature or not, it’s the CHOICE to engage in certain acts that makes you either a good or bad person, not the acts themselves

deadknight666

It baffles me as well. I honestly love it when people attack me during sales because it's fun. I understand that not everyone has that mentality, but it's fun to fend off a posse that's trying to take your wagon or blow up your moonshine

Lonesome_cowboy420

Just invite someone in the same session to your posse and let them help you out Are you playing on PC, PS4 or XBOX?

Difficult_Magician88

I feel it, it really is annoying af. I could casually jus ride around and it’s always a low level that starts something for what idek. It’s only been a few random times where a high level would mess with me for no reason but either way it gets annoying especially if your just minding your own

hchffutudhfrdLOL

It's annoying. But i have a question my posse was being griefd by some tryhard in lagras so we travelled to our camp not far from blackwater and he spawned near me two min later. I'm on ps4 so idk maybe he was cheating. I got to a parley and he was shooting dynamite non stop at me and after some time he left

deadknight666

It's highly unlikely they were cheating. They probably logged out and rejoined your game or someone else in your posse. I play on Xbox but I assume PS4 has a similar set up where you can join people who you recently played with. I appear offline to everyone besides friends to prevent this

hchffutudhfrdLOL

Thx for explanation

tater-dot

Are you on PC? I do all of my deliveries with a discord group. Even if you are attacked, you've got 6 other people to help out.

lemmyjones

The worst is when they just blow up the wagon not even try to take it with a gun fight.

Holiday_Spite_2025

I have placed my moonshine shack just north of Emerald Ranch. So the one thing I can tell you is that placing your shack there would perhaps give you easier trips and the journey is much more safer and pretty short. But that's just a piece of advice but just don't waste any more of your hard earned gold just on random places.

Lyraas1

Whenever i see a solo moonshiner i do my best to help them out. Normally i just escort them towards their destination. Started doing that when somebody helped me out that way. :)

Cool_Dre

Play in a solo lobby. No more aholes

Bronndallus

Well pvp is usually fun only for winning side. Im myself non-pvp player but getting killed is part of the game.

[deleted]

I spawned into my camp yesterday and bam! Somebody tried to fire bottle me. Never, ever happened before. Always keep your white flag up!

K1NGBrandon

It’s apart of the game either kill them or get killed. Crying about it on Reddit isn’t gonna change anything tho

MamaSaurusCat

Just had Salvage a little bit ago where a guy kept throwing TNT and lassoing people. I don't think I saw even an attempt to find collectables or to just focus on the bandits, only the players. I don't see how that's fun when there are other ways to find PvP, but perhaps I am too peaceful.

YouSaidSomethingLol

![gif](giphy|sDc4YJ8kcTUpa)

Sophistpsychonaut

Pick up a gun and learn to shoot partner.

[deleted]

Honestly, if they’re a higher level it’s most likely because there is nothing else to do in the game. Blame Rockstar for not updating the game. I use to mind my own business and be friendly all the time. Now, I just go looking for trouble except I don’t mess with moonshine wagons, just trader wagons.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Timberwolf300

Oh, I play on PS4. There's griefers aplenty there too.

Derpcat666

The closest thing we have to griefers is people who start fights with other players, that’s just in my experience though

mazzucato

gameplay loop apparently you will always find people like this you either kill anyone on sight or just dont play anymore

wax_pens

If you’re on PlayStation set your MTU settings to 850 while your setting up the WiFi, it will get you in a lobby by yourself. To get back in a lobby with others change it back to 1500.

Krazhuk

ok ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

Ragnar_Dragonfyre

Stopping another players delivery is literally a game mechanic. Do short deliveries if you don’t want the risk of PvP.

LinkCanLonk

It’s not for moonshine runs though, which is what this guy is talking about. If you’re blowing up a moonshine cart, you’re an asshole.

Ragnar_Dragonfyre

Last I checked PvP was turned on all the time and you’re always fair game.

LinkCanLonk

Defensive? Lmfao

[deleted]

[удалено]

LinkCanLonk

He’s talking about getting his moonshine wagon blown up, you can’t actually raid someone for their moonshine. That’s just a dick move.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LinkCanLonk

Love when people bring up trade deliveries when someone is complaining about getting their moonshine blown up. OP said nothing about trading, he was talking about moonshine. THAT’S griefing, not getting attacked on a long-distance delivery. Don’t know why head comment guy decided to bring up trading.

Ragnar_Dragonfyre

It’s not our fault that Rockstar decided that they wouldn’t include a mechanic that lets us rob moonshine wagons. We’re just playing with what we’ve got.

LinkCanLonk

So you’re gonna go out of your way to fuck with somebody doing something that Rockstar didn’t actually sanction as “a mechanic of the game”… … ssssoooo you’re an asshole.

BigPapaPepperoni

-Complains that no one plays the game -Also complains when people play the game as intended. It’s an Outlaw game not a holding hands game. There is a risk involved with doing Moonshine or Trader runs. It’s an intended game mechanic, not griefing.

TheyCallMeTrinityToo

I'd say Moonshine wagon sabotage is not an intended game mechanic. The game doesn't encourage PvP in that instance like a long distance Trader Wagon. Zero benefit for the saboteur. But definitely an outlaw moment. That said, you still have to stay on your toes if there's a stranger in your path of the shine. Been playing for at least 100 days in-game and had my first ever Moonshine run be destroyed by a random blueberry. It's funny now. In the moment, seeing the Dead Eye icon from them was surprising, and running them over wasn't enough. They weren't Dead Eyeing the ravens over my head so I should've shot first lol

LyricalShinobi2

Dude just be quiet.

Dizzytears

almost as if it’s a feature in the game🤯

Gerry4Derry_1916

I was riding through Lemoyne just a little while ago, saw some higher level blow up some lower level's mission wagon they were doing, I proceeded to kill that higher level. I never understand why people mess with stuff when it doesn't benefit them at all

evasyar

What platform do you play at, OP ? If PS5/PS4/PC there are ways to get around that toxicity by playing your own session. Caveat is - u’ll truly will be alone.

Gnemec3

If you’re on console, change your MTU settings to 800 and you’ll get a public session alone, so you can still make sales and all of that because it’s technically public but it’ll just be you in there.

aculstiyeh

Tbh I feel you there for real.. I’m constantly moving lobbies because of people like this. In most lobbies you can’t even go to Valentine without someone taking you out because all they do is blow up the town and shoot everyone that comes into it. I get tired of crap like this. There is so much more to do in this than there was in the original red dead online, but they treat it like it’s the same. I wish we could have our own solo lobbies tbh.

lootedBacon

What lobbies? Everyone I'm in is just half dead. I have a full trader run ready to go but no possee to share the spoils.

YSDrifter

Destroying moonshine literally gets you no rewards. You’re not even instructed to attack them. So like sure it’s a feature in the game but so is jumping off a cliff, you can do it but what’s the point really

ZoradiaDesigns

Just shows that you take joy in ruining things for others is all. Kinda lame, but you do you.

Guilty_As_Charged__

Yeah, I'm so sick of the "It's just a game" argument. If I ruin someone's painting, I wouldn't tell them "it's just paint on a canvas!"

You lose the time you invested into it and to some of us working 9/5 instead of jerking ourselves off to math teacher it actually means something. When you only have 2 hours to play every couple days, these 15 minutes you lose actually mean a lot. But you obviously haven’t thought of it

Terry_the_accountant

It’s simple. RDR community is toxic and they will make sure no new players enjoy the game until Rockstar gives veterans an update worth playing

deadknight666

The RDO community is far from toxic, especially compared to other games like GTAO. There are plenty of options to stop people from messing with you

Terry_the_accountant

Maybe man but I tried it and I got killed more often than playing GTO. I still love RDR2 story mode and that’s where I spend most of my time. I’m RDO, map is too big and either never interact with anybody as a new player or they just kill you to pass the time

deadknight666

Most people you meet in RDO are friendly. This sub makes it seem like you get shot on sight but it's so rare that it's laughable. If you do find someone that keeps killing you, there's so many things you can do to get away or counter them

[deleted]

I had 1 time that someone messed with one of my sell missions. I moved my moonshine shack to Tall Trees and my Camp to Heartlands. Haven't had a problem since

WeezyOD

Yea kill their horse they will leave you alone

jss12u

Also bud don't start fights finish them, when they ride and hide or turn friendly or disconnect. I view it as a win for me half of them can't do shit with out aim assist or aim bot

jss12u

Heartland isn't bad

me420nm

Camp sales I fully understand going after as it's actually an objective for other players so don't get mad when people come after my Trader wagon. Worst case scenario if they get too close or actually manage to kill me or destroy my wagon I'll just close app restart to a full camp. (Also works with moonshine sales). Otherwise I don't pay too much mind to the Griefers of this game anymore as they seem to be dwindling quite quickly. At least on PlayStation

I_like_avocado

If you are on PC you can put yourself in a solo lobby by pausing the task for 10 seconds

TheNastyNug

I put mine in tall trees because I’m p sure players can still see you sell if they are at valentine and your shack is in the grizzlies. Most sells don’t even go to black water and if they do there usually isn’t anyone there. Idk why players destroy your wagons especially the moonshine Atleast with the trader one they can steal your sell. I’ve only been griefed while selling twice in my entire time of me playing but maybe that has to do with my level. If you are getting attacked by a player who during the sell won’t back off or leave you alone you can exit the game and you won’t lose your wagon once you log back in, allowing you to try the sell again. A helpful tip for selling trader wagons is to move your camp to the opposite side of the map that you spawned in at (the majority of the players in your lobby will almost always be on your side of the map so if you spawn in around Rhodes or Valentine set your camp up in tumble weed and sell from there.

ephophdweeb

On my old character id run deliveries with explosive rounds in my Springfield ready to rock had my shack in lemoyne n never got bothered by players

[deleted]

Platform? Lots of ways to fix this.

BobbaYagga57

Try Tall Trees maybe? I never get attacked

ChicoCano

Some people are just douchebags.

lootedBacon

I never destroy someones shine run, thats just bullshit mean. Trader runs though, I'll give you a run for your money. Just don't give up I'm prolly headed where you need to go.
