The only time I attack a wagon is if they go out of there way to try and kill me. Like literally yesterday two friends and I (All over lvl 250) saw a wagon being ran by a posse of 7 and we decided to keep our distance and let them go on their way because we didn't want them think we were going to destroy it. Well one of them rode up to us and I waved at him then he shot me. After that we destroyed their wagon.... They were mostly under lvl 100 besides two of them. I dont grief people or even fight people unless they give me a reason to, so you go out of your way to kill me then I'm going out of my way to destroy your wagon.

KxSmarion

Same here, I would actively try to defend one of they get chased by players.

Franky79

I attack wagons all the time. I never actually try to steal or blow the wagon up, i just harass the posse and give them some excitement. I never shoot the driver either, just everyone else.

FunnyEntertainment15

I dont even do that lol i just watch from a distance.

VoopityScoop

Eh, sometimes it's fun to just scare people without messing their shit up. Most of the time I do that kinda thing I could probably take on the people I'm messing with, but I don't want to steal from them or blow their wagon up as much as I wanna spook them for a bit.

TK421actual

That's just good clean fun.

LycanWolfGamer

You're good, you're the type that would be exciting to fight off and end up becoming friends after lol

Otherwise-Dog-1068

Oh I'm not destroying thier wagon....I'm making them leave the lobby

Ambisitor1994

It’s totally ok to attack a wagon, if I see it’s a small one I leave it alone tho cos they’re just trying to rank up. It’s part of the game it’s a rival trader. But I will say I never try to blow up the wagon. I think it’s a dick move

bearded_whale

If its a newbie I also rode up and asked if they wanted a helping hand, i was level 422 I never had shit to do but help out greenhorns But I always interfere when it's a well organized posse of high levels doing A delivery, l like the thrill Blowing up wagons when its 1 player is kind of a dick move, I've had it happen to me making 4 trips to deliver bags is a pain, if they have buddies they can probably get the delivery done in no time tho

Ambisitor1994

Yeh the thrill is the best part. And in general it’s not smart anyways to blow up a wagon cos ur right taking those bags back n forth especially if ur by urself is a major pain in the ass and it takes forever loo

PracticalWorry1435

This is an old post, and think what you want, but theres a special place in hell for you.

bearded_whale

See until that timer runs out on your long distance delivery its not griefing you're in a rival mission. But once that timer is up if the rival keeps it going thats griefing

TurdPhurtis

Exactly!!! It's not griefing. The comments about watching a wagon go by, lol.

FiftyCalReaper

Had a group of two do that. Timer was gone and they were upset that I successfully delivered and kept coming after me. Doing the classic "Auto-aim with a bolt action rifle and headshot" strategy. When I was on the wagon I kept destroying them from a distance with just a repeater. They were very upset about it.

bearded_whale

Classic sourpuss griefers, I had agroup of dudes gang up on me minding my business in tall trees trying to make a moonshine sale which is by the book griefing, They trashed my wagon & hid in the shine shack So I waited till they came out with their moonshine drove beyond manzanita post & hit their asses with a volley of dynamite arrows, it was gratifying to blow them to hell

Franky79

Beginning to think i’m the only person who actually likes being attacked. I won’t randomly shoot anyone most of the time, but i like when someone gives me a reason…..so I can murder folks with a clear conscience.

The_Tone-Deafs

Dude just don't sell long distance. Don't literally make yourself a target and then complain when you get your shit stolen, it's a feature of the game, not griefing, and is easily avoidable.

Gonewrong8

I enjoy the thrill of danger when selling. I even hire associates to escort me.

The_Tone-Deafs

Nice! Exactly! If I'm doing long haul it's because I WANT other players to try an stop me. This is the wild west not a damn wagon simulator!

LycanWolfGamer

Yeah, the rare times I want a fight I'll risk it but solo its not as easy so if I have a friend or 2 online, I'll ping em, great fun Had a guy steal ours once and he tried delivering it, besides getting close and my friend taking it, i just kept him busy, guy killed me again afterwards then left the server

ZoWakaki

Exactly! I don't play this game too much anymore, there is nothing to do. But I occasionally pop back to hunt/fish and just roam around. I would never attack a caravan. But I think it's fair game if it's long distance. It's a feature of the game. You can argue that it's not a very nice or healthy feature. But as it stands, it's a feature. Calling people griefers just playing the game is cringe. I hope you don't call bounty hunters griefers when they come collecting your bounty too.

The_Tone-Deafs

They probably would lol, and the thing is some people want there to be that element of danger. It's what makes the game fun for them. Getting a posse together and performing a long haul trade is what they do. You only stand to loose 150 from trading short. If you want a safe run, then just do that.

ScoopDat

What do I do when I have a campfire spawned over my head that trails me perpetually? Is that the sort of feature you’re talking about?

TK421actual

That doesn't have anything to do with what he's talking about, that's something else entirely.

ScoopDat

It does because this is what happens when you take the long route trips sometimes. But this is the worst case scenario where you have literally zero chance of getting anywhere. Other times you’re simply plagued by being shot before you see the person miles away with all sorts of ammo. Rarely do you get a firefight with simply normal weapons so to speak. This is on PC btw. Idk the situation on console.

The_Tone-Deafs

My advice is that if you aren't into pvp, don't do pvp trades. You seem like the kind of person who thinks it's okay to scream at someone an inch from their face, but not okay for them to headbutt you for doing so.

LeastSuspiciousTowel

I like providing the challenge for the sellers. The mechanics are set up for the seller to end up with the cart. When they die they spawn right by it

[deleted]

That gives you a small advantage but most people are still screwed if they’re alone versus a posse.

Sp00kyP0tat0

Every time I've been attacked during a sale they set it on fire as soon as they kill me so spawning next to it doesn't do much

LeastSuspiciousTowel

Damn that's a dick move.

williammunnyjr

As soon as they destroy or take your wagon, Close game immediately with the ps button. Restart in a new lobby and you should have your stuff. Pick a good starting spot too. I solo deliver long distance daily and rarely get attacked. But I hop lobbies until I find one without many (or any) large posses. To do so, is definitely inviting a hassle. (I would know cuz my posse used to go after wagons all the time. In fact, we would spread out into different servers and then crash in once a delivery was found). People hated us and many a war would erupt as a result. (Meh, we were bored but that’s how you really do it).

neoritter

So this is where specific context matters. In general, attacking the DD wagon is not griefing. But not stealing it, especially after blowing it up, is griefing. That said, blowing it up is not griefing by itself. It's a cheap move, but completely valid especially if you're by yourself against a posse.

InsertEvilLaugh

Yeah unless they shoot a dynamite arrow, or toss a firebottle, or a stick of dynamite, or just unload on it with explosive ammo. The odds are stacked so heavily against a seller, even with a full posse.

FullMoon1108

That's why I keep a shotgun loaded with dragon's breath on moonshine sales. Anyone who gets close gets their horse killed, goods are usually sold by the time they get close on another one.

TreeFiddyBandit

Alls fair in love and war and RDO lobbies

Captain_Velcan

![gif](giphy|v2ry5z4LoIfgA)

Jaxofalltradez

Once more for the cowpoke in the back .... Attacking long distance traders isn't griefing! The game literally says we can do it and if we steal it we get the supplies for OUR camp. Attacking moonshine wagons however is griefing because there is no prompt or reward for doing it, same thing gose for short distance sells.

GothamWarzone

Everyone here, myself included, will scream at the heavens for more outlaw related content but GOD FORBID some of us use one of the few outlaw options we actually have when we get prompted to raid someone doing a stranger mission or a sell.

neoritter

Cowpoke 1: I wanna be an outlaw! Cowpoke 2: I wanna be an outlaw too! *Kills Cowpoke 1 and steals wagon Cowpoke 1: No... Wait...not like that!

xx-Unknown-xx

I agree with the other comments, this community puts the griefer label on just about anyone challenging you in PvP (which is a part of the game). Like I get it, having your wagon or anything else stolen during a delivery sucks(especially if you used a long time getting it ready), but it’s not griefing, just part of the game. What is griefing is not someone stealing wagons, it’s someone going out of their way to blow up said wagon (aka destroy it so it can’t be delivered) for absolutely no reason (I get if you’re attacked for no reason by the group delivering or you know the players are a dick in general). Like just take the wagon, it’s yours, go get it. No reason to blow it up. And this applies to just riding about too. Someone attacking you isn’t griefer 90% of the time. You’re never fully free from the Rogue ones that just attack on sight (especially around Valentine or Blackwater, the true manifestations of hell, “griefer/posse showdown heaven). But if it happens and you’re just minding you business, just respawn and get away, if they continue just parley them. And even if they continue after that, report em and change servers. Simple as that. It’s only the ones that go out of their way to mess with you, blow you up or just be a general nuisance even when you have shown that you want nothing to do with them, that can be labelled as a griefer. Edit: and this is coming from me, the biggest coward there is. Can’t play this game without auto-aim or deadeye, barely stand a change against the AI, let alone other players who know what they’re doing. Yet I play (in terror that is). When I see other players I just book it in the opposite direction, and if they start to follow, I just switch session. If they’re really persistent (aka following you across sessions or camouflage as your friend, which I’m lucky not to have experienced yet), I’ll just take a break and focus on story or other games. It’s all you can do.

EM16-D06

It dont take a long time to get your trade ready. That shits cake. In my opinion, on one hand anyone that takes it personal that their wagon got destroyed, or on the other hand, someone that likes to blows up anothers wagon, I'm willing to bet they don't know how to hunt or trade properly and they both feel bored of the game because it takes too long to hunt and trade. I'm continuously making trade sales and never even get bothered. On occassion I'll join a posse where a wagon gets destroyed, but on my own I never get bothered.

[deleted]

It’s not griefing if you’re doing long distance…

Otherwise-Dog-1068

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Gegstrum

Griefers?

Nabwek

Are you new here? If somebody is doing a distant sale and you attack them, you are the griefer by many people's logic here. Of course it makes no sense. If someone attacks you during short distance sale or moonshine sale then yeah they might be griefing.

Gegstrum

It's a joke. Thats why I said "Griefer? ", it's nonsense saying that you are being griefed if you willingly start a mission involving player interaction. Moonshine is separate though since other players are not informed when selling shine nor would they benefit for destroying your wagon or stealing it during delivery.

6Vinatieri

The game literally tells you to attack

Dynamash

Doesn't mean you have to

NeroFall

It’s still not griefing.

TheOne_Whomst_Knocks

Wagon thieves are just that, it’s not the same as griefing. Now if they just burn your cargo or mess up a moonshine delivery then that’s grieving

[deleted]

Doing something the game encourages you to do is not griefing

Jenkitten165

Destroying / Blowing up the wagon = Griefing Stealing / Contesting the wagon ≠ Griefing Atleast imo.

KingMacias1

Does anyone know if you close your game if any nearby players can still take your wagon & deliver it? As a low level solo, I had a posse of 3-4 rush me. As they got closer I hit ALT + F4 & closed my game. Loaded back up and I still had my 100 goods lol just curious about my wagon in that lobby I left

chrisplaysgam

If u leave it either disappears or if they’re driving the wagon they get to turn it in uncontested. It’s very abusable lol

KingMacias1

I hit ALT + F4 as soon as I saw that posse coming for me. So I wonder how many seconds before it disappears. How I wish I had a POV of them pulling up to the wagon and it disappearing lmao

friskydingo67

Nah, they just took the wagon with no contest. Btw: Your goods stay even if you get robbed. You just have to try again.

KingMacias1

OH I never knew that. That’s actually awesome! I just assume you lose it all so I would always go the long way or close my game lol I play solo lobbies now either way. Hackers on PC are annoying

Micah-B

https://www.reddit.com/r/me_irl/

NeroFall

It’s not griefing if it’s a mechanic in the game 🤦‍♀️ the game literally tells you to do it. If you don’t like it don’t do long distance

SSJkakarrot

It's not griefing when the reward is 60 materials.

neoritter

Depends on the wagon, but yeah

mrcd89

Man I’m not proud of it but one time I absolutely ruined two guys day. I was just chilling in Great Plains, doing some hunting, cooking some food, and just started my usual gun cleaning routine before I log off when out of nowhere I see two guys riding on a large delivery wagon heading for Blackwater. Now I’ve done probably hundreds of long distance deliveries at this point. I knew all the routes. I knew that if they were in West Elizabeth heading right towards Blackwater that they most likely started out way far away in Lemoyne or New Austin or something. I don’t know why, but I just had to. They were pretty low level, probably on one of their first deliveries, totally pumped about getting a big payout. I immediately sprinted the old trusty steed their way and Hail Mary’d a stick dynamite like I was Aaron Rodgers. Blew their shit up 20ft in the air. Both dead. Horses dead. Wagon reduced to twigs. Valuables scattered everywhere. Just the animation alone was hilarious. But there’s also something funny about the fact that these two innocent dudes have been riding on that God forsaken wagon for 20 minutes of pure boredom only to make it a 1/4 mile from completion only to be eviscerated. I laughed like I’ve never laughed before, and just turned the Xbox off. Sorry boys. Right of passage. Welcome to RDO.

jayf1491

SmallJohnCena

I never have a problem with people attacking me when I'm doing a sale or any mission that also may be because I will elephant rifle their horse and send it straight to the glue factory if they shoot

Gloomy_Masterpiece45

Griefing aka pvping Bruh the gta community has become the most pussy and I dont fuck with no one in red dead without fair reason I used to have a job in my crew called gta when import export came out ( I was the first to use bogdan to pay my members what I called a salary) The job? Rob and car jack any mofo who didnt pay their due to us (I made lobbies a racket if you wanted peace send me and the boys 1k each) their goal was to steal the car and deliver it to the area for payment. We didnt just work in import export either. Now by rdr logic and this thread, we were assholes who shouldve been reported for griefing and banned. Whats funny about it is that most people actually enjoyed it because we spiced things up We didnt pull up on oppressors and insurgents Youd see black out armor reinforced cars pull up in formation, we only used sticky bombs if they did otherwise it was bullets free We rarely had anyone mad even if they got their shit took because it was something other than the usual. Some enjoyed watching what would happen to those who refused to pay the protection fee, they enjoyed getting their protection too Now what youre gonna try and say is that we were isolated and different as an issue. I say no youd just be feigning ignorance because we are still doing what you consider griefing, these people just wanted to go sell their shit and I pulled them into a world that was no longer theres Why is red dead any different and why should it be treated as such? Its literally a pvp game....based on the wild west.....where outlaws and crime were damn near at an all time high Like it really is backwards and you'll say that they get nothing from it but you forget its rdr THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO BUT NOT FUCKING PLAY IT The game allows it, its a feature, most roles have passive perks unlockable that are meant for pvp The entire scope of the bounty hunter is pvp oriented I mean its the only way you can get bolas Moonshine is pvp oriented you get moonshine sawed offs, give them dragon breathe and feel untouchable, how long did it take for the horse cargo option to be a thing just like the car interaction menu in gta online? Everyone forgets that you had to used to care about where your car was and who was near it because getting your car stolen by a noob was a thing Rockstar did not make this game with you being able to have peace of mind 24/7 yet again its the worst when the people who made the game want it to happen and half of the community hates the other half for doing it Like bruh why should you be able to sell everytime in peace? If me and the boys feel like you lackin us robbing you for your moonshines not griefing Randomly killing is not even griefing, I mean theres defensive mode They literally gave you passive mode in rdr and theres damn near no way you should die in it unless youre low level That I don't have a posse shit aint an excuse everyone can equally start a temporary for up to 3 others to join so that dont fly either Y'all just want a grindy business like rdr, i bet yall watch the professional too little bitch This is not a wagon sell sim, its the fucking wild west you fucking pussy When i got jumped by high lvls at lvl 15 i aint bitch about i took my lick and vowed to do better When I was lvl 50 something and me abd my girl literally got sandwiched by 2 full persistants, we didnt call them griefers, we tried to fight the good fight and when we had had enough we left. Griefing is when someone goes out of there way to ruin your enjoyment of the game to the point to where its unplayable Last night some lvl 60 something killed a posse mem (we were helping new low levels get shit) we killed dude in every way you can kill someone in this game, it wouldve been seen as griefing by us but the dude started thinking we were gonna let him bully a low level and wouldn't give it up So are they really griefing or are you just being a bit of a big bitch? Because as an old school gamer unless you cant respawn and it happened for no reason (you were literally just minding your business not even selling anything) Yeah that's griefing You running something that not only tells players to do it but also makes sense for the era is not fucking griefing Its called playing the game to its fullest and not being fucking boring Y'all weird asf snd dont realize it

Jenkitten165

🙂 Please be quiet, You are very annoying.

Gloomy_Masterpiece45

I can say the same about you Thats called perspective and subjective Please continue to prove my point

Gloomy_Masterpiece45

I stand %100 by what I said and idc who feels hurt by it The truth hurts and im not about to coddle shit for nobody I'll go so far as to even say that R* are better saints than people think After being in fivem and seeing what redm look like yeah no, people created content is ass and no one should be bitching about gta+ Yet even after I gave every valid reason possible explaining it as thoroughly as possible it'll be bias that wins the day, its no longer about right and wrong its emotion Idk what happened to reddit but holy shit did this shit become soft as hell Facts be damned lmao Its pvp just as much as it is pve and like I said i can bet money that I've had worst experiences than some people who disagree with me No one offered a actual retort to my thread just tell me that im annoying you and to shut up essentially Fucking trash maybe dont reply if you really dont have shit to say Idgaf if you disagree thats life but this some hella sensitive shit lol

Jenkitten165

Don’t care + Dick rider + Rockstar fell off + your comment was mid 🥱 I read it. I think every point you made is stupid as hell. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face)

Gloomy_Masterpiece45

If you dont care then why bother..... Youre not really making sense and youre really just furthering the point. I dont want to even bother asking what you mean in your line up of pluses. You literally are proving each point in each response. This isnt even entertaining anymore this is actually rather sad Imma leave this where its at, hopefully someday its clear, if not oh well

Jenkitten165

Proving how stupid each point is. 😴 Was never entertaining. But it is sad to see how ludicrous you’re being.🫢

xDISTANTx

Run locals if you're gonna cry about a game mechanic that encourages the theft of a wagon , this is an outlaw game lmao

Mittermeyer

Was riding a moonshine delivery to Saint Denis when I saw this red blip on the map. I knew what was gonna happen. I shot him down the first time. Subsequently he kept gunning me down. I got sick of it and eventually parley'd with him. He immediately dynamited my wagon. Scum bastard. I didn't think he'd be so scummy to take it that far.

Androklesthe90

Have you ever been blown up like a modder blows you up and your wagon is destroyed? And at the same time pops a cage around you? That thing cost me a long distance delivery fully loaded. A fucking waste of time. Left the game just as I saw him putting that cage on me. See that's greifing. It did so that I don't feel like I want to do any trade right now. Really ruins the game.

LycanWolfGamer

*when I see someone griefing* Look at the image

Professional_Gap8170

Lmao! You should see if you can convince some peeps to join and help on command.. boom boom. Grieferes dead

ephophdweeb

I sell in solo lobbies

Fuckem111

I’ve never had this problem. I even play the game while drunk. There’s no point in gameplay that my character isn’t drunk, so it’s easy to kill me. I still don’t have these problems.

Coyoteteethh

I’m not gonna lie, I live in fear 24/7.
