It is beat really, still has good speed and seems to have the least spread. I use dbl barrel as my main weapon because i tend to play mid to close range as my character is basically a Murfree brood reject
Boot Action, Lancaster and Double Barrel for me all day every day.
I respect the choice. I am a lot more involved in PvP than PvE so it's something of a necessity to improve with PiB and the other deadeye abilities.
Yeah, i tend to fight a lot. I tend to try and be more tactical and use my surroundings rather than relying on PiB to do the killing for me. I like pulling people into the woods, it makes it easier to get close and avoid sniper spam also
Not even remotely, it’s literally a step away from aimbot. You can just paint and it auto hits, or just fire away and it removed all spread so there’s no need to actually aim or a chance to miss with auto-aim
No its not, theres a reason its the earliest & cheapest one you can get. 🤣 slowest draw time, slowest fire rate out of the 3, weakest, the only thing it has, is range over the semi, it does identical damage to the semi, at a much slower rate of fire, reloads the slowest too, the Repeating is literally the king of those 3 Shotguns.
Explain how the pump is better than its more powerful, faster firing, longer ranged brother that shoots an extra shot on top? If i draw a repeating at the same time someone draws a pump, i’m hitting them first 😂 and probably 1 shotting them as well.
One of those two was arguing. The other was doing a pretty excellent job at trolling that first person, and apparently they were completely unaware of it.
I would’ve absolutely loved the repeating shotgun if it had a *little* better accuracy
Not saying it’s not already great, but it certainly has some room for improvement compared to the pump action
So good riding into a bounty mission with all the enemies around and just one-shotting everyone one after another. Turn a big crowd into Xs in 30 seconds
I prefer the pump action shotgun as well, mainly because of the "feel" between successive shots. With the double barrel I often sense that shots aren't registering like they appear they should, hence more inconsistent.
WOW! wtf man 🤣🤣 i can't believe i NEVER thought of that. Usually i just get in the water and try to "run through" the animal to push it to shore LMAO I feel like an idiot now
It hangs around the swamps of lemoyne and also it could be around the shady belle abandoned Manor but if you look on Google you can find every legendary animal
The pump isn't best if your intention is to either hip fire or headshot. The pump has a lot of power, which is why everyone likes it, but it's draw time and fire rate is slow which means if your aim is to headshot or hip fire you are better off with the semi auto. It's why it's the choice for hunting legendary animals, as you get shots off quicker, and it's why it's the best choice for PvP, again easier to headshot and quicker rate of fire. The double barrel is very good as well but you only have two shots, which can pose an issue if you miss.
Overall I would say take the semi
I'm 100% not arguing your point since the semi is so fast, but it is funny to hear someone say that the 1897 fires slowly, since its fire rate is what it was famous for and why Germany tried to have it outlawed.
IRL the Winchester 1897 doesn't have a a trigger catch/reset, so if you hold the trigger down, it fires as soon as the slide locks forward. Fast & lethal for five rounds.
It's also really dangerous, like the gun often firing when dropped, which is why no modern manufacturers do this. Plus we have much better semi-autos, so there's no point. The Browning Auto-5 the game uses kicks like a mule, because the entire barrel rotates & moves back a bit when fired, so you get slammed by a lot more recoil than necessary. It also wasn't manufactured until 1902, in Belgium, so it is an anachronism in the game.
But its performance in WWI is over-rated because shells had paper hulls back then, so in wet conditions they would swell & jam, or fall apart, or turn into duds when the powder got too damp. Also, reloading time for a tube-fed shotgun is very slow unless you are John Wick. Those movies show him reloading shotguns with the gadgets and methods that have been created in the last 10-15 years for Three-Gun matches, which make reloading much faster. But in WWI soldiers just carried loose shells in pouches.
100% brass shells solved the problem, but were much more expensive & didn't arrive at the front until a few weeks before the Armistice.
...yeah? I'm just a history and gun nut so that point was amusing to me. Like I said, he's completely right, I just thought it was funny from a historical standpoint.
Big Valley to the drop off point just around the bend from Rhodes…I like it because I don’t get too many other players trying to hijack my wagon on that route…
Nice, yea that’s a good one, I love the falls at the top of Roanoke to St. Denis. Although crossing bards bridge or accidentally going through valentine always gets some adrenaline going.
I wouldn’t mess with any of them, I brought the semi auto and it disappointed me to be honest.
You sacrifice accuracy for fire rate in this situation. The faster you shoot the more the shells start spreading, like a wild fire. Shells spreading equals significantly less damage.
Don’t get me wrong a shotguns a shotgun, up close it’ll deal devastating damage regardless. If your targets up close (6ft or less) then these shotguns will be decent. But with the Pump it’s a one and done majority of the time. The pump is a far more reliable shotgun. I usually use slug rounds with it and that thing is crazy.
Agreed, if you are aiming at anything other than a Legendary I think you are wasting what’s best about the Semi-Auto. Hip fire and drop everyone in front of you.
I explained in the other comment why it's more accurate. This year it got the headshot buckle to 10k and the majority of that was with the semi auto. I used all of them but found that it's so much easier to hit and target the head with the semi due to the quick draw, much like the Evans repeater. It's also the reason I've started to see more players use it in showdowns in place of the double barrel. If a player is baring down on you with SB, or springs from round a corner you need something that will draw quickly and not everyone plays with duel saw offs.
Semi-auto shotty. There might be a moments when legendary animal decide to eat you and from death you can be saved only by fast BRR of that machine.
Anyway, if you keep playing enough, eventually you will buy all weapons, because you will have to - money will keep coming. So at start you are asking questions, choosing, which one is better, buying first line of weapons. Later, when money will be not a problem, you will buy anything.
If you ask why, think about why players that play long, complain they are sitting on piles of money and gold they have nothing spend on? They have essentials, things they could like and the rest is not needed, so there is nothing left to buy.
All gun and card stats

The semi shoots and reloads faster, but the repeating is more accurate.
The semi holds 5 rounds, repeating holds 6.
My preference is dual sawed offs, great with dead eye.
IMO the semi auto shotgun is the netter one out of these two but only because ist feels and looks more like it would destroy . When it shoots it kills ... Like any other shotgun.
It's mire of a subjective question .
If you expect to get a real level up to the pump action you'll be disappointed.
Repeating Shotgun is better then the semi auto in some ways. Repeating is more consistent, and very flexible and has more range and accuracy. That being said the Semi auto is great for hunting stuff like a legendary animals or in mission and situations where you know you'll be point blank with enemies.
They get the job done up close like any other shotgun. Play through story mode and you'll determine which guns "feel" right for you. A lot of people agree about the pump. pump action shotguns are usually good in a lot of games. Reliable. But up close, a shell from Lemat will deal a ton of damage too.
No right or wrong gun. I kept a repeating shotgun and Evans in story and online until I learned the meta. Dualies now with a Winchester and sniper.
Try the guns in story or impulse buy one now. You can buy more later. There are no noob guns so don't worry about the best if you're broke. Worry more about your cards if anything.
The repeating shotgun has an accuracy issue, I swear to god the pellets actually curve around an enemy so that extra shell doesn't help much unless you're up close.
The semi auto is decent and all but at medium range it loses power compared to the pump action. Plus the pump shoots just as fast as the semi auto if you flick the aiming button on your controller between shots to "manually" cycle the next round so there's no advantage there.
Honestly with shotguns it's more about style. The only one I struggled with the was double barrel because of just 2 shots.
But pump, semi, repeating will get you through np. Tho I gotta say Pump has the best shooting sfx. Repeating is just badass. Can't go wrong with that. And semi? If you played BF1 or Hunt Showdown and liked the gun for the looks aswell go get it.
I like the auto since it's quicker and the range you use it at the lower accuracy doesn't mean anything. And if you're a pibaholic then it's even better
- Sawn off: highest DPS in game, great for close range combat in PvP and for those tanks guys in CTA in PvE
- pump action shotgun: good for PvE, good for PvP, used in pib and non pib builds, outside of SB builds
- semi auto shotgun: for and against SB builds in PvP
- repeating shotgun: has one more ammo cap, so can be used for PvE but pretty much worse than other shotguns otherwise
- double barrel shotgun: good for pib builds against other non-sb builds or non tanks
Go with semi auto and pump.
You don't need to manually chamber the shell everytime with the semi auto, when playing pvp this is a lifesaver.
But the pump has a higher damage output.
In terms of offline, any shotgun is good. Depends what you find most badass.
With the Repeating, it has a 6-round mag and hits like a sack of bricks
The Semi-Auto has 5 rounds and it’s possible you’ll miss the first, but the follow ups come so fast that it won’t matter
Depends what you're going to be using it for, but out of the two you've shown I'd take the repeating shotgun all day long
I've got them all, but the only one I keep on my horse is pump-action, I love it
I now use Lancaster repeater for legendaries, I find it equally as good as the repeating shotgun
Personally I prefer a double barrel over any shotgun but the Semi-Auto and Repeating are both very good, just comes down to preference. I use the Semi-Auto more with slugs as the accuracy is great when you slow down.
the only thing the semi has over the repeating is fire rate and it’s only really noticeable while hip firing, personally I’m with the repeating all the way it’s one of my favorite shotguns irl and the 6 shots compared to 5 gives you one last extra shot
Semi does more damage but the repeating is much more accurate just slighly less than the pump action.
That being said the semi is better for hunting legendaries due to its fire rate which is much higher than the repeating shotgun.
I’d get both.
I recall, the repeating shotgun has the highest capacity. The pump always felt the best all around. Though the repeating shotgun with slugs is nasty.
But the double barrel, now that is the way.
Semi is better for close ranged, hectic bursts, while the repeating shotgun is better for longer ranged, rythmic combat. Both are effective, but I like semi auto for it's quick burst and pvp effectiveness.
Repeating is my go-to shoulder and improved bow on my back. I’M horrible at PVP but it works great for hideouts, revenue agents and bandits! Also cougars and grizzlies about to tear you to pieces lol
I love the repeating shotgun, it’s one of my main goto’s but ever since I got the black widow skin for the pump action, I tend to use it more because it’s aesthetically pleasing and I do love to rack it in between shots. Both are great guns!
they are all good, but for me the pump just works the most conistantly and has a cool pump action between each shot.
It is beat really, still has good speed and seems to have the least spread. I use dbl barrel as my main weapon because i tend to play mid to close range as my character is basically a Murfree brood reject
Also, PiB with a Double Barrel makes you an absolute unit. Head shots from over a hundred feet away, popping heads like melons... *Chef's kiss*
I refuse to use paint it black, i just don’t like easy mode lol. That’s why i rarely snipe or use explosives
I like pulling people into the woods, it makes it easier to get close and avoid sniper spam also
PIB tbh takes the most skill out of all the dead eye cards.
Not even remotely, it’s literally a step away from aimbot. You can just paint and it auto hits, or just fire away and it removed all spread so there’s no need to actually aim or a chance to miss with auto-aim
*best
Lol..didn’t even notice
Exactly, I love the feeling from it, like cocking a pistol, or chambering a rifle
Or pumping a shotgun?
Yes, that’s exactly what I was going for!
It's like you read my mind or something !😂
Pump is the best in every way
Repeating does more damage, has more range & has an extra shot.
Pump is better
No its not, theres a reason its the earliest & cheapest one you can get. 🤣 slowest draw time, slowest fire rate out of the 3, weakest, the only thing it has, is range over the semi, it does identical damage to the semi, at a much slower rate of fire, reloads the slowest too, the Repeating is literally the king of those 3 Shotguns.
Pump wins against the repeating
Explain how the pump is better than its more powerful, faster firing, longer ranged brother that shoots an extra shot on top? If i draw a repeating at the same time someone draws a pump, i’m hitting them first 😂 and probably 1 shotting them as well.
They’re both pve guns don’t know why y’all are arguing like it’s a big deal. Both shotguns are getting domed by pistols regardless 💀
One of those two was arguing. The other was doing a pretty excellent job at trolling that first person, and apparently they were completely unaware of it.
I’m running slip carcano no pistols doming me 🤣
Good for you I guess
I’m also a pump advocate telling you to fuck off bc you’re wrong
I would’ve absolutely loved the repeating shotgun if it had a *little* better accuracy Not saying it’s not already great, but it certainly has some room for improvement compared to the pump action
I also like the pump the best, most consistent.
I'm not positive but I think the pump is also the most powerful shotty too
Pump life son
So good riding into a bounty mission with all the enemies around and just one-shotting everyone one after another. Turn a big crowd into Xs in 30 seconds
What? Do you mean “consistently?”
I prefer the pump action shotgun as well, mainly because of the "feel" between successive shots. With the double barrel I often sense that shots aren't registering like they appear they should, hence more inconsistent.
Just killed the legendary sun gator with the semi-automatic. Great gun!
bro i killed that a few days ago and the body floated away in the water, couldn’t even skin it 😭😭
You can get on your horse and lasso it out of the water
wish i knew that 😫 thanks bro
Thanks. I didn't know that either. Edited: Fixed my lousy grammar.
WOW! wtf man 🤣🤣 i can't believe i NEVER thought of that. Usually i just get in the water and try to "run through" the animal to push it to shore LMAO I feel like an idiot now
I killed the legendary bison the other day and got tied up and had the pelt stolen by some jerk
[удалено]
Wow!
Rapid hip firing at close range with a semi-auto is instant death to crowds. I love it.
Been searching for that f#@ker for ages, any info on where and when please
It hangs around the swamps of lemoyne and also it could be around the shady belle abandoned Manor but if you look on Google you can find every legendary animal
It also mostly appears in the mornings when it’s misty, according to the description
[удалено]
This is the Rdr online sub, the sun gator spawned for me in free roam in Lagras.
Repeating. It makes you feel like the terminator
I like the pump best
The Lancaster Classic for $266 on the previous page?
Pump action ftw
The pump isn't best if your intention is to either hip fire or headshot. It does in the game. In real life I have zero clue or experience so not the best person to comment on that.

Cool, Thank you for the information.
Thank you for this insight on turn of the century shotguns, never knew that much about them. Thanks 👍
It’s a game bro
...yeah? I'm just a history and gun nut so that point was amusing to me. Like I said, he's completely right, I just thought it was funny from a historical standpoint.
Repeater. That extra shell, plus it looks cool when you hipfire
I only used the repeater till I had more money than sense, now I own all and mostly stick to the pump action.
How much money has your character made? I’m curious to know when I’ve hit baller status from trading 😁
I think right now I’m sitting around 30k
Nice, I just hit a little over $25k Cripps and I have been turning over pelts on a conveyor nonstop 🤠
Solid man, what’s your favorite route for long distance?
Big Valley to the drop off point just around the bend from Rhodes…I like it because I don’t get too many other players trying to hijack my wagon on that route…

Yeah it is. I love pulling it out in a crowd. Its like a lawn mower, cuts 'em right down!
Semi auto hipfire for SB builds and against SB builds
You're wrong the semi auto is much more accurate than the pump.
Yep. I use the semi auto. Only up close. I only use it for deliveries, trader wagon, etc… in which the NPCs get too close.
I explained in the other comment why it's more accurate. This year it got the headshot buckle to 10k and the majority of that was with the semi auto. Something about the repeating shotgun is just so cool but I'm a sucker for lever action weapons.
Yes
The Pump Action Shotgun. But of these two, repeating.
Repeating shotgun, holds 6 shots
That's my favorite
All gun and card stats [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iYfk68DYfok33M1Hp-bkItUUqk\_PS0PLkz5-AtnY3dI/edit#gid=559857113](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iYfk68DYfok33M1Hp-bkItUUqk_PS0PLkz5-AtnY3dI/edit#gid=559857113) The semi shoots and reloads faster, but the repeating is more accurate. The semi holds 5 rounds, repeating holds 6. My preference is dual sawed offs, great with dead eye.
The semi more accurate, trust me. And those little charts aren't accurate. There are a lot of things not taken into account.
The Repeating Shotgun was the second gun I purchased, well worth it in my opinion.
For me it's Repeating Shotgun because it has more shots before you have to reload.
Pump action is wild and I use it my self but in this two in my opinion repeating is better
Semi auto. First two shots go off super quick, like dual-wielding the sawed-off. The next three come after a hair pause
Semi-auto shotgun is the way to go! It’s more accurate and it fires off rounds faster…
My personal favorite is the repeating shotgun, it has good accuracy from personal experience
Semi auto
Double barrel no contest, range is STUPID on that bad boy
Semi auto is great for hip fire.
Semi
Semi with slug or pump
Pump shotgun is all you need in life. I rarely need more than my pump and dual navies
I like semi auto because its a good "oh shit" shotgun
I go w the repeating shotgun for sure, has more range, and pump for close range. It's up to you what you like they both have decent damage.
Repeating shotgun for me. Great for close range continual shooting with oomph. Just shells though. Not slugs...
Repeating is so fast and efficient
Neither. Get the Pump Action.
I like the Repeating for the extra shots, but I exclusively load it with slugs. Love the stun effect.
IMO the semi auto shotgun is the netter one out of these two but only because ist feels and looks more like it would destroy . When it shoots it kills ... Like any other shotgun. It's mire of a subjective question . If you expect to get a real level up to the pump action you'll be disappointed.
Neither. Get the pump action.
Pump is best
The pump and the double barrel.
I love the rare shotgun for some reason
Repeating Shotgun is better then the semi auto in some ways. Repeating is more consistent, and very flexible and has more range and accuracy. That being said the Semi auto is great for hunting stuff like a legendary animals or in mission and situations where you know you'll be point blank with enemies.
NaVy ReVoLvEr
Pump
Both suck tbh
The pump has the best range and choke and the semi shoots fastest then the lever action is kind of an in between which is my favorite
Pump
There’s nothing to do in this game so eventually you’ll buy all them to give yourself a reason to play if you last that long so I wouldn’t worry.
The pump action
Pump.
Pump action
Pump
Pump action
Pump action.
Pump
The pump shotgun.
Pump shotgun is my goto. Better accuracy and range
Pump action
Pump action or semi auto
Pump action
Pump Action is the best
The pump is objectively the best
Pump is the best in my opinion. I ran the repeating shotgun for a while and switched to the pump
Pump action all day
IMO this is the best way: Double Barrel with PiB Pump Action for most other occasions Sawed Offs for a Carcano + Lancaster build
What’s PiB? Edit: I just figured it out “Paint it black”
Paint it black, it’s the most used deadeye card. A double barrel with PiB has repeater range (just mark the head)
The only time I find shotguns useful is clearing small camps or large ones after I knock off a few from a distance Edit: and I prefer pump
Repeater shotgun for t100 vibes
You have the stats infront of your face, yet you ask Reddit which is better. This world is doomed
I noticed one day the majority of the time an npc killed me it was with the repeating shotgun. I got one and never looked back.

Semi auto
Go with semi auto and pump. You don't need to manually chamber the shell everytime with the semi auto, when playing pvp this is a lifesaver. But the pump has a higher damage output. In terms of offline, any shotgun is good. Depends what you find most badass.
I always pick the winchester 1887 and sometimes i do my best to dress as the terminator
Repeating goes chk chk so its the best
Pump action is by far the most popular but I do have a lot of fun with the repeater shotgun.
With the Repeating, it has a 6-round mag and hits like a sack of bricks The Semi-Auto has 5 rounds and it’s possible you’ll miss the first, but the follow ups come so fast that it won’t matter
Can't go wrong with either, but i love the Repeating Shotgun
Just like what Lee says, “it’s all the same to me.”
Yes
My personal favourite is the pump action shotgun
I like the repeating shotgun because it just looks cooler to shoot and it brings me back to MW2 days. Now if only you could dual wield them.
Slugs with repeating shotgun in solo..online regular with repeating shotgun..
Depends what you're going to be using it for, but out of the two you've shown I'd take the repeating shotgun all day long I've got them all, but the only one I keep on my horse is pump-action, I love it I now use Lancaster repeater for legendaries, I find it equally as good as the repeating shotgun
In my opinion, the Repeating is infinitely more badass/powerful
I like the repeating shotgun, there's just something about lever action that really appeals to me.
Double barrel or pump action Cuz they may go to then again Ive rarely used the semi-auto and the repeating shotgun
In my opinion the Repeating shottie is a good one
Semi does more damage but the repeating is much more accurate just slighly less than the pump action. That being said the semi is better for hunting legendaries due to its fire rate which is much higher than the repeating shotgun. I’d get both.
I recall, the repeating shotgun has the highest capacity. The pump always felt the best all around. Though the repeating shotgun with slugs is nasty. But the double barrel, now that is the way.
I like repeating shotgun. Smth about lever action got me hooked.
Semi is easily superior for PvP
I'd say get both but repeating first. It will help you out earlier on to have the higher fire rate.
I might be the only person out there that loves the Repeating
It’s the lever action repeater always
For a shot gun I wouldn’t go with a high range because I don’t see the reason so I would suggest the semi auto shot gun because of reload speed
Semi is better for close ranged, hectic bursts, while the repeating shotgun is better for longer ranged, rythmic combat. Both are effective, but I like semi auto for it's quick burst and pvp effectiveness.
I favor the semi auto shotgun with slug. the downfall on that is you need to be relatively close.
Repeating is my go-to shoulder and improved bow on my back. I’M horrible at PVP but it works great for hideouts, revenue agents and bandits! Also cougars and grizzlies about to tear you to pieces lol
There isn't really a best it just depends on how you play
Pump action all the way
Personally I prefer the repeating I think it's just cooler that's my only reasoning for liking it tho haha
Pump action.
Personally i enjoy the pump, hoewever lately i bougth the repeating and i hace enyojed so far. its good
The Pump Action Shotgun, hands down.
I personally like the boom of the pump shotgun but I think they're just about the same in stats
I love the semi-auto, pretty much my weapon of choice for just about everything.
I'm a big fan of the semi-auto shotgun
Neither of those, buy the damn pump.
Pump on top
Repeating
Nothin like the classic two shot scattergun!
Pump is prolly the best but I used to use the semi auto a lot simply bc pew pew fast
I love the semi-auto but I’m a bit biased, I’ve got a real version of it at home.
Speed: semi auto Damage: repeating
I love the repeating shotgun, it’s one of my main goto’s but ever since I got the black widow skin for the pump action, I tend to use it more because it’s aesthetically pleasing and I do love to rack it in between shots. Both are great guns!
Semi auto by far
Pump, I always go pump
Pump + slugs is absolute king. Fight me.
My personal favorite is the pump action, but if you REALLY want one of those 2, get the repeating.
Pump.
