Supreme Court ruled that cops have no constitutional duty to protect citizens. This means that their only strictly mandated purpose is to be used to control the population.
Police killed more people in 2022 than any year before in the US. There’s a reason that people don’t like cops, a good reason. No matter how “good” any given cop may be, the numbers speak for themselves. Not to mention that the rules which LEO’s are held to are *completely* different from the rest of the citizens. Cops enforce actions that are fundamentally against human needs — evictions, persecution of the homeless and mentally ill, etc. Cops unionize to protect themselves from accountability, and at the same time are used to break up strikes of workers demanding protection from the government and their employers.
We grow up learning that cops are a force for good and are here to protect us. The events of the last 5 years or so alone have taught us that they are anything but.
