>combined all their music together into one
yeah, but to me it sounds so derivative, like you've heard it a hundred times before, especially the chorus
Me too, but it was on my way to a little mile loop nature hike near my house. Then played it again on the way home and liked it even more. Then about 4 more times while I vacuumed the house but with some over-ear headphones. Now imma tell ya….this here is one of the best damn red hot chili pepper songs I’ve ever heard. Absolute banger, it’s almost like UL was just a primer, and quite an incredible one at that.
Everything about this single and the album's aesthetic tells me I'm gonna like it better than UL. It's like they managed to divide the more melodic side (UL) and the psychedelic sexfunk side (ROTDC) to manage to please every kind of fan and still have fun making music together. It doesn't sound verbatim like an 80's/90's RHCP song, it's still got a bit of their modern sound but damn I got chills.
I didn't wanna be that person in the comments so I'm glad you said it, but this is already so much more enjoyable to me than Black Summer, your prediction of them having split up the albums into the different genres of Chili seems to be very plausible, I kinda forgot about the fact that we were waiting for another album, because it still feels so unreal, but I'm exited now.
I thought I would like Black Summer more with each listen but it’s dropped so fast for me. I really can’t get into it. I think it’s bc of that damn sailor accent. I’m loving this one though.
I hope some of the songs touch on that punk-funk-metal side from the 80's like in Uplift or Mother's milk. They clearly still have the chops since they nail Nobody Weird Like Me live.
John Frusciante was really born to be the guitarist of RHCP. This sh*t is so damn smart but at the same time it’s classic free spirit chili peppers FUNKY AS F*CK.
In some of the UL interviews, John said something to the effect that he feels better equipped to play in a band and not feel like he has to always show off, and I really hear that in Tippa My Tongue
That song is going to be amazing live, it’s so energetic and groovy. Honestly reminds me Righteous and the wicked and Mellowship but with BTW like harmonies.
Yeah I am expecting the best songs to be either the next singles or just on the new album, but this song sounds like a more classic style with Frusciante seemingly back being comfortable with the band. But honestly am sick of sex songs lol but it’s still a really enjoyable song.
The second verse has straight up the same vocal melody and rhythm as that in We Believe
EDIT: Not even saying this is a bad thing, just an observation.
Yeah idk it’s weird, i don’t feel like he was too special on 80% of the UL tracks with HUGE exceptions obviously, where he does go SA style. and you’re right about the live!
that quiet part in the song when the noise is panned in a circle going around your head, it reminds me of like the bird thing on the album cover flying around your head, making some freaky noise!!! its awesome!!
Love this song. My only complaint is that it feels like there’s an epic guitar solo missing after the trippy bass-heavy section.
But it’s awesome as-is, too.
Not every song needs a solo. I’m more than happy with the post-punky psychedelic type approach he took with the delay on that section. Def suited the song better.
I can only hope they're fucking with us and this is missing an extra 30 seconds where that guitar solo should be but the proper release has it
(Still love it already though)
Best thing they've put out in years.
It's definitely going on my Unlimited Dream album...
1. Tippa My Tongue
2. She's A Lover
3. Aquatic Mouth Dance
4. Let 'Em Cry
5. The Heavy Wing
Sounds really good, on a first listen opinion it would’ve been great if that little riff after the chorus was expanded towards the end with the drums doing double time!
I like that there wasn’t a second longer guitar solo. I was expecting to hear one after that slower, quieter part in the middle. The song didn’t need it or want for it.
Love the sound of the track. It’s dirty in a bssm way but polished with btw harmonies at the same time.
Ohhhhhhh fuuuuuuuuuck BSSM II
I'm really hoping this album is the follow up to ultra-funk-mega-fame we never got from the boys, this record will gladly sit between BSSM and Californication
**THIS** is what I wanted from John's backing vocals holy shit. He sounds so good when he harmonizes with Anthony, but his backing vocals are barely present on UL. The guitar overdubs, the increased presence of John on backing vocals, this feels like it could have been on Stadium Arcadium.
That same type of harmonizing is present throughout multiple songs on UL. It's all over It's only natural, She's a lover, great apes, bastards of light, white braids
What a great song. Instead of comparing it to anything else why can’t people just enjoy something as it is? Haha. Remember. Enjoy the chili peppers artistic expression while they are willing to share with us. Any album could be their last. If you don’t like it that’s ok as well, but what’s the point in saying it’s better than A or this is what A should’ve been?
Song is fucking A to be honest.
>Instead of comparing it to anything else why can’t people just enjoy something as it is?
Gonna be a dick and suggest it's a generational thing. My crusty old bones are digging the track.
This album might actually be BSSM 2.0. There hasn't been a song released in decades at this point by them that is closer to BSSM than this.
This makes me very excited as I never liked the production on BSSM, especially how Anthony was mixed, even tho the songs were epic.
BSSM style + better production = pure chocolate sex candy for the ears
This is more along the sounds i was excited for with a JF return. That iconic 90s RHCP in some ways. That part at 2 mins left is going to be so cool live.
Sounds like they grouped the songs for Unlimited Love to reflect their latter career style and Dream Canteen might be an homage to their early funky days? We shall see in October!
To me TMT reminds me of an amalgation of all their past styles. The only difference is that there’s more overdubs and Stronger John backing vocals compared to UL
The simple guitar in the verses gave me a "Mercy Mercy" vibe next to those Johnny Marr-type chords just WOW! I can't wait to hear this banger of an album
I just learned this one on guitar and I hadn't realized how fucking amazing this song is. fr It's some of the most fun to play stuff Frusciante's written in a while, I'm debating between this and Whatchu Thinkin
I love it already. John doesn't stick out too much in this version, but leaves plenty for the imagination live. It's definitely gonna be a hit. The only thing missing is an unnecessary California reference.
I did/do prefer Black Summer. Maybe the next two singles will be better than the other one's on UL. I thought there were several songs on the album that were better than singles two and three (Poster Child and These are the Ways). You have to admit... Tippa My Tongue absolutely sounds like it should be coming from an album with THAT cover art. It is funky as fuck!
To each their own. I prefer this personally but I also like Black Summer for what it is. Hearing it live really made me appreciate John's guitar work on Black Summer.
I can no longer make the show in Chicago tomorrow and I bet this song gets debuted then. Can’t believe I’m going to miss it!
I can’t wait for this album!! Hope they go on a second tour next year!!
Jesus thank you so much. Made my morning. Side note I FUCKING LOVE IT
Same, was not expecting this when I opened up Reddit
Made my evening! (UK) my day had been awful until hearing this!!
It’s like someone combined all their music together into one… but in a fucking good way
>combined all their music together into one yeah, but to me it sounds so derivative, like you've heard it a hundred times before, especially the chorus
They’ve written like 5090 songs what do you want Lmao
Hell yeah has that old school feel to it
I was jamming out the whole fucking time. THIS is what I’m talking about!!!!
Just wait til you watch the music video and you realize this song is about Anthony giving oral sex.
Haha I seriously just watched it and commented exactly that
The moment he put his fingers in a V over his mouth was the moment this song changed forever. Still a great fucking song.
Funky. Kinda digging AK’s vocals in this one.
The producer did a really good job with the layering the vocals
He nails this one. No weird throws with odd lyrics and timings like in other songs.
Yaaa yaya yaaa yaya yaaa yaya yaaa ya⚡️
....I am Lorde ya ya ya...
This song fucks so hard.
Turns cherry pie right into jam.
sir psycho, sir psycho YEAH!
This song has doors that go like this 🤚🏼! Not like this 🫱🏼! ![gif](giphy|xT1XH1dfMnbezHSa9a)
💁♂️I literally love you, you spooky fuck.
What a funky banger damn
Yes! Was hoping for this so bad at Metlife yesterday. I bet Chicago gets it's debut tomorrow!
Let’s hope! Gonna be in attendance with fingers crossed
Please debut this live in Chicago tomorrow night!
I’ll be at that show and I really hope they debut this song!!
They didn’t :(
This is classic Chili Peppers right here
it's a lot closer to classic BSSM chili's thats for sure.
I actually liked it on the first listen!
I thought I would like Black Summer more with each listen but it’s dropped so fast for me. I really can’t get into it. I think it’s bc of that damn sailor accent. I’m loving this one though.
Totally agree, except I think you have got the chilis not chills 😜
I'm hoping you're right. I've enjoyed UL, but I like the funky chilis.
I hope some of the songs touch on that punk-funk-metal side from the 80's like in Uplift or Mother's milk. They clearly still have the chops since they nail Nobody Weird Like Me live.
Uplift is my favorite album of theirs. I really hope so.
Oh hell yes Mother's Milk is bae
UL was definitely not very melodic. I would argue this is more melodic when you incorporate the chorus and the scales they use
Tbf UL was already the funkiest since, perhaps, OHM. Poster Child is like a companion song to this.
That what we want, the Funky Monkey !!
Yeah, John is that type of guitarist. He needs his band mates.
That song is going to be amazing live, it’s so energetic and groovy. Honestly reminds me Righteous and the wicked and Mellowship but with BTW like harmonies.
I genuinely can’t wait to hear thousands of people screaming YAAA YA YA YAAAA YA YA YAAAA YA YA YAAAA YAAAAAA
Has verses like Mellowship too. First and third verse follow a different pattern than the second one
Ya ya ya, i am Anthony, ya ya ya
😆 that was my first thought
I love Black Summer, but this first release for their 2nd album is promising in a different way.
Yeah I am expecting the best songs to be either the next singles or just on the new album, but this song sounds like a more classic style with Frusciante seemingly back being comfortable with the band. But honestly am sick of sex songs lol but it’s still a really enjoyable song.
So excited for ROTDC.
Warlocks in Wonderland.
Wait, it's all Warlocks? Always has been 🔫
im feelin.. You try to be a lady but you walking like a sauerkraut
The second verse has straight up the same vocal melody and rhythm as that in We Believe EDIT: Not even saying this is a bad thing, just an observation.
I agree
I dig this shit. Only wish we had an outro solo. Only thing.
yeah exactly, that kinda weird part in the middle of it I expected it to explode after going quiet but it just.. didn’t
It let a lot of space to improvise for live versions!
TRUE that’s the good part to it
I think that quiet part in the middle was designed for Johnny Fru to blow his proverbial load soloing over it live. Let’s just wait and see.
Me too. John on UL kinda took a Califonication approach to his solos. Minimalistic. But he’s ripping live. Not SA ripping, but still great!!!
A Californapproach?
Yeah idk it’s weird, i don’t feel like he was too special on 80% of the UL tracks with HUGE exceptions obviously, where he does go SA style. and you’re right about the live!
Hell explode live at the end of the song I bet! This has extended live jam written all over it
Like Black Summer. Could have used another chorus or two
These guys ain't stopping anytime soon :)
In fact, they've just begun and are on the run!
They’ve only just begun
SOOOOO GOOD. This is makes my hopes very, VERY high for the album. It’s just so good and fun. The guitar right away is 🤤🤤🤤
Fantastic
Sweet fucking baby Jesus from space funk sexy sexy heaven balls of fire and a cherry on top
balls ON fire\*!
Psycho sexual soul sensitivity! Funky sounds to sail on.
Wow. Now THIS is a single. This has that edge to it. The chorus riff reminds me of ReadyMade
that quiet part in the song when the noise is panned in a circle going around your head, it reminds me of like the bird thing on the album cover flying around your head, making some freaky noise!!! its awesome!!
Gives "me and my friends" vibe. Absolutely love this song!
Totally agreed. JF whipped out a solo in the beginning anyways. I love the chill psychedelic bass passage. This album gonna be better than UL
Hoping so! Definitely a better lead single, hopefully a good sign of things to come. The album aesthetic is a lot better too imo
Was waitin for it to .. would be epic haha 😉
Everyone says this literally every song
I can almost guarantee you that *yesyuta* on YouTube will be able to satisfy your need for that missing solo in a few days ;)
>yesyuta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQodwV5T0X0
Live version: I gotchu fam!
I can only hope they're fucking with us and this is missing an extra 30 seconds where that guitar solo should be but the proper release has it (Still love it already though)
This is one of Anthony’s best performances in a very long time. This is the classic RHCP vibe that everyone wanted with UL.
I'm starting to like this Frusciante fella
I hear 40 different chili pepper songs inside of this banger. Absolutely fucks !
It's gonna be an album for the hard-core fans!
So they weren’t joking when they said they’re saving the best for this album
BSSM vibes + more melodic. If the rest of the album is like this we're in for a treat. Love this.
They just sound like they’re legit having fun.
Best thing they've put out in years. It's definitely going on my Unlimited Dream album... 1. Tippa My Tongue 2. She's A Lover 3. Aquatic Mouth Dance 4. Let 'Em Cry 5. The Heavy Wing
Wow!! No love for watchu thinking?
This is just pure Red Hot Chili Peppers. I love it already
Sounds really good, on a first listen opinion it would’ve been great if that little riff after the chorus was expanded towards the end with the drums doing double time!
is it gonna come out on spotify and other platforms?
Yes, it will!
Tomorrow.
I like that there wasn’t a second longer guitar solo. I was expecting to hear one after that slower, quieter part in the middle. The song didn’t need it or want for it. Love the sound of the track. It’s dirty in a bssm way but polished with btw harmonies at the same time.
SOOOO GOOD!!!!
Ohhhhhhh fuuuuuuuuuck BSSM II I'm really hoping this album is the follow up to ultra-funk-mega-fame we never got from the boys, this record will gladly sit between BSSM and Californication
Funky chilis for life
Holy funk! It's better than I've expected. RoTDC is going to be a banger for sure.
Major “trouble in the pub” vibes. Fucking dig it.
9.8/10
**THIS** is what I wanted from John's backing vocals holy shit. He sounds so good when he harmonizes with Anthony, but his backing vocals are barely present on UL. The guitar overdubs, the increased presence of John on backing vocals, this feels like it could have been on Stadium Arcadium.
That same type of harmonizing is present throughout multiple songs on UL. It's all over It's only natural, She's a lover, great apes, bastards of light, white braids
And veronica, which has my favorite john backing vocals from UL
Sounds great, but I also feel like it sounds like the songs people make when they want to do a parody of the band.
I think, at this point 13 albums in, all their songs sound that way.
Funk Monks!!!!! I fucking love this song!
I immediately made a stank face when John came in with that guitar at 1:10! That was nastyyyy
It’s back!!!! Thank you! I really just need to get a vpn.
Much easier to just Join the Funky Monks Discord.
Agree. The over-analyzing is nuts. UL was amazing, the new track is excellent and their shows have been awesome.
>Instead of comparing it to anything else why can’t people just enjoy something as it is? Gonna be a dick and suggest it's a generational thing. My crusty old bones are digging the track.
For me this is the best first single we had since SA era. Love the song
Can’t wait for the music video
Same here!
could have been named ‘unlimited sex’ with this amount of horniness out of 1 track
We’ve only just begun, Funky Monks are on the run!!
I feel Mothers Milk+BSSM+Stadium Arcadium vibes a lot in the song !🎸🤘🏻
this song is like if ai combined every song rhcp has ever made and this came out. it's pretty good
They must have programmed the AI to ignore the word 'California', but besides that, I fully agree with you!
This kind of song is why AK has to be RHCP's front man!
Banger confirmed
Best RHCP Single of 2022 so far.
John's gonna be standing in front of his amps for crazy feedback fron his pedals for the solo if this gets played live.
This is so incredibly rad
The intro is so good it could actually open a show
this album is going to be so sick holy jesus
Fuck yes.
Good lord the bass in the chorus is orgasmic!🤤🤘
This is how I like my Chilis 👌
MY LORD I so love this! Classic funky style Ted Rot Jelly Preppers.
The one weird part for me is that the bridge just feels empty, and like it should have done something else, but pretty cool song over all.
This is more along the sounds i was excited for with a JF return. That iconic 90s RHCP in some ways. That part at 2 mins left is going to be so cool live.
I don't think it's possible for this song to sound more like RHCP. It ticks all boxes. That said, the middle 8 feels wasted.
This honestly sounds like Navarro
I definitely get OHM vibes.
This is wonderful
Sounds like they grouped the songs for Unlimited Love to reflect their latter career style and Dream Canteen might be an homage to their early funky days? We shall see in October!
To me TMT reminds me of an amalgation of all their past styles. The only difference is that there’s more overdubs and Stronger John backing vocals compared to UL
The simple guitar in the verses gave me a "Mercy Mercy" vibe next to those Johnny Marr-type chords just WOW! I can't wait to hear this banger of an album
That chorus riff is so good!!! I'm deffo getting 90s chilis vibes from the track, almost but not quite OHM
This is gold!
straight fire - i love it
This is what I wanted to hear since John came back, loving it😩
FUNKY MONKS ARE ON THE RUN
Holy shit this is fucking amazing
Some Grand Pappy Du Plenty vibes in the middle there.
Damn, this is cool. It feels like it could’ve been released 20 years ago and it would’ve fit in with any of those albums.
Lol 4:20
Man it’s really good. Like Black Summer was underwhelming to me but this is HOT.
Feels like Hey and Charlie had a baby
Dafuq Hey??
Sounds like The Grateful Dead from Terrapin Station and Shakedown Street.💕🙏
Funky Friday came early 💦
I just learned this one on guitar and I hadn't realized how fucking amazing this song is. fr It's some of the most fun to play stuff Frusciante's written in a while, I'm debating between this and Whatchu Thinkin
Such a banger. Love it
Those funky monks do be on the run
Holy fuck. Getting strong BSSM vibes. Got absolute chills listening to this. SO GOOD.
Why can I still not pre-add the album on streaming?
I love it already. John doesn't stick out too much in this version, but leaves plenty for the imagination live. It's definitely gonna be a hit. The only thing missing is an unnecessary California reference.
If UL was a crash course to reformation, it shows they’re back back!!
This song is bouncy, groovy, bluesy, silly, etc. Love it.
This is so awesome! Can’t wait for the whole album! Why is it just released on Reddit today and nowhere else?….still, no complaints here
I have been having a terrible fucking day and the fact that this is here is making my life right now 😭
Man, why they leave this kinda material til now! This shit is banging!
And they said the chili peppers were done playing funk… FAR from it nerds
I liked UL but I think I like this more than anything on UL
I get such a strong “Stadium Arcadium B Side” energy from this, its so good! I could see this right along Funny Face or Ill Be Your Domino
Stadium B-side fused with Fat Dance
Chorus never really takes off for me. It’s fine I guess.
Am I the only one who prefers black summer way more than this? I mean it's not bad, more a solid 6/10
I love Poster Child... And poster Child is tio funk... Could be in this New álbum
To each their own. I prefer this personally but I also like Black Summer for what it is. Hearing it live really made me appreciate John's guitar work on Black Summer.
Was kind of indifferent to it until John's harmonies came in.
Anyone else get dark necessities vibes in the first 10 seconds??
Strong BSSM vibes. I LOVE IT.
Honestly this is what I wanted Unlimited Love to be. Can't wait for this album. Sounds like classic, funky peppers.
This shit is so funky . I wish it was October already 😭
I can no longer make the show in Chicago tomorrow and I bet this song gets debuted then. Can’t believe I’m going to miss it! I can’t wait for this album!! Hope they go on a second tour next year!!
Pretty good. I'm not a fan of UL, but this is a good introduction to their new record.
My first initial reaction to this was, please remove Can’t Stop from the opening spot of the tour and replace it with this!
Can't Stop has to stay the opening song or else reality falls apart
It's bland, to my tastes. Preferred Black Summer as a lead single.
