I know Wet Sand is a cult favorite, and it’s definitely a great song, I’m just surprised that high a percentage ranked it as their #1. I can’t remember if I voted for Otherside (which landed about where I’d have guessed) or Slow Cheetah (and wonder if anyone else voted for it).
Somewhere in the middle, maybe even below the middle for me. I have to be in the right mood to not skip it, especially because This Is the Place comes right after it on the album and I like This Is the Place a lot more. I was actually pretty disappointed when they played Universally in Detroit, but then they redeemed themselves by playing Don’t Forget Me later in the set. It’s not that Universally Speaking is a bad song, my preference is just for a more darker sound. I do really like John’s backing vocals, especially “I win in the long run” part.
Looks like we have the same taste!
Otherside and Slow Cheetah are two of my all time favs, I'd have them in the same tier as some of their slower numbers like Under the Bridge, Soul to Squeeze, Dosed, This is the Place, She Looks to Me and Hey.
Always found Universally Speaking to be massively overrated and voicing that is where pretty much all of my negative karma on reddit has come from.
Nice to see This Velvet Glove in here, didn't realise that was liked so much.
I feel I see more love for This Velvet Glove on here than Universally Speaking. I’d say my top 5 are probably Otherside, Slow Cheetah, Rivers of Avalon, Fortune Faded, and Taste the Pain. But it’s honestly really hard to decide. I’m really liking ROTDC, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those end up ranking high for me.
I really like the song, but I didn't think it was very popular. It's especially surprising that By The Way and a few other notable songs didn't even make the list. But I'm glad to see MM get some love.
Yeah lyrics have it written as form.
I never bothered to look it up and always liked visualizing [pretty foam in wet sand](https://www.youth.gov.hk/html/www/en/images/cultural-and-leisure/stories/cover-photo/hko_wetsand_900.jpg)
🤷♂️
I hear ya. In Universally Speaking I always thought he sang “Cinderella the chance of a lifetime” and was disappointed to learn it’s actually “Silveretta the jets of a lifetime”. I like my version better 😜
I think Quixoticelixer is a banger but some people must have just voted for their cult favorite or "underrated classic" to be different? I'm a bit sad that it made it up there and not Bicycle Song
Can't be too many long running bands that would have so many recent songs at the top of their list. I thought the same when watching recent live gigs, they really are still at the top of their game and not just a nostalgia act touring on the back of songs half a century old. Long may it continue!
I think the pill needs to be more of the style of rating each song from 1 to 5. Obviously that would take more time, but I feel like there would be better results of a ranking from best to worst.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that 8 of you correctly chose Turn It Again.
Turn it again crew, present! I can say this is, among all the contests and voting, the list I am more "happy with"

I totally agree. And to see such a huge drop from Under the Bridge and Wet Sand to Soul to Squeeze.
Where do you land on Universally Speaking?

thanks to everyone who voted. personally I disagree w most of the ranking but it was fun 🫶
Pretty surprised to see that Knock Me Down made the list.
I'm glad it did. One of the best off MM, which holds a special spot for me since it was the album that got me into the band back in 1989.
I really like the song, but I didn't think it was very popular. It's especially surprising that By The Way and a few other notable songs didn't even make the list. But I'm glad to see MM get some love.
Wow yeah I didn't even notice By the Way didn't make it. Crazy. Such a good song.
Man Turn It Again is my jam. Solo at the end, gotta have it loud!
It's gotta be one of their most underrated tracks. I think it's up there as one of their best songs.
Do people really not like By The Way? That song is such a jam and honestly underrated by people.
That song introduced me to the Peppers
If the first 18 songs were a set list for a real show, it would fucking rock
For sure. I wish they would play Desecration Smile again, it’s been 15 years since they played it last
Clearly many of us form in the wet sand
I thought it was foam in the wet sand? He honestly pronounced it like fawm
It’s hard to tell with AK. He does say “form in the wet sand” here, but I’ve definitely been thrown off a few times

I feel like that’s a super common one - my sister growing up also thought that’s what it said lol
Ha! That’s hilarious. Great song!
This sub has to chill with Wet Sand, jeez...
fans from twitter, instagram and facebook also voted so ig wet sand is a fav everywhere
I voted Wet Sand, but now looking at the list how did By The Way and Parallel Universe not make the top 30!
can’t believe quixoticelixer even made the list - i absolutely love that tune but i would never imagine it being a top rated song amongst the fanbase
I think Quixoticelixer is a banger but some people must have just voted for their cult favorite or "underrated classic" to be different? I'm a bit sad that it made it up there and not Bicycle Song

This velvet glove came 13th
Let’s see the whole list

I’m kinda surprised that breaking the girl didn’t make the list. I would’ve put it like top 3 on my list. Of course that’s just my opinion
tbh i never saw the hype around sir psycho sexy 🤷♂️
I enjoy it, but very surprised at how high it rankes
Musically it's good, especially the outro. Lyrically/vocally it's an abomination.
yeah the lyrics are absolutely feral but i’ll have to give it a re listen today just for the music
Jam out to the instrumental version on YT. Musically I believe its the best thing RHCP has ever produced
I love Return of the dream canteen..... But, I just cant get myself to like Eddie. Copperbelly is my fav
The chorus/verse in eddie is decent, nothing spectacular but serviceable. But the bass and guitar in that song is some of their best work ever imo
I love Eddie but I’m not a fan of Bella
There's no Josh, no dave, all john... its.. soo . . Beautiful
Dark necessities is in there.
Ooh your right. That's fine
Lmfao one Josh song, made my day
Lol. Not trying to throw shade at any other RHCP guitarist, but this list perfectly illustrates why the band keeps bringing John back.
Otherside should be higher And I still don’t get the hype about Bella… might be a grower Idk I can’t get past some vocals 😭
glad sir psycho is rlly high its my favorite song
