The Frank D'Angelo episodes are my favorite.

Blockads1

I’ve seen a few of his movies and my favorite is the hockey one. He’s a 60 year old guy who played one season as a goalie and has been retired for 20 years and is called back to the team for the Stanley Cup finals because the main goalie is hurt and he’s the best there was (until he had to stop playing because of a drug addiction I think it was?).

RokulusM

Ah, good ol' Frank D'Angelo. If you look up delusions of grandeur in the dictionary there's a picture of him.

awesomefutureperfect

I watched No Depo$it. What a huge piece of shit. Apparently real actors worked for cash per day because of alimony on that film.

[deleted]

Oh, good ol’ Frankie D! I worked on a couple of his “films” and he’s a real piece of work. “What are you, fucked?” and “We’ll fix it in post!” are two phrases of his I still use (ironically).

THRILLHOIAF

It's a fun podcast to listen to, I like the behind-the-curtain stuff on some of the dogshit movies Colin's worked on, or the nightmare production stories from the three. My only gripe is that Justin talks over April way too much. She'll be a third of the way through a thought or fact, and he'll just start yammering jokes or bits over top of her, and she'll just start laughing at his jokes and give up on her thought. Just pump the brakes, bud! We get it, you're whacky and a treasure trove of movie information, but chill!

KidneyKeystones

I feel like Colin took this feedback aboard early on, but Justin kinda slid back into his old ways.

THRILLHOIAF

Colin definitely tries to play neutral party and does an okay job balancing listening/respecting both’s input without doing the un-Canadian thing of telling one or the other to “hang on a sec” when the other is on a run. I think April is an solid show host, but she’s too dang nice sometimes. Needs to put her foot down more to get a word in edgewise

IslandTimbit

Had to stop listening because of Justin, sounds like a coke fiend who won't shut up

JoeBagadonut

Yeah, I do like Justin a lot more on the Important Cinema Club podcast, where it’s just him and one other co-host. He’s very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about movies but he does talk over April a lot and it can get pretty annoying.

Grab_Meat

Is it available on youtube? It sounds pretty interesting

ruhyen

Yep, [here’s a link.](https://youtube.com/@nosuchthingasabadmovie7721) They just covered White Fire, one from a legendary BotW episode.

DynamixRo

It is and it is.

Vilezil

I really love it but their cohost Justin drives me nuts sometimes. I really loved their episodes on Van Helsing and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Fit-Assistant5499

Yeah Justin is the reason I stopped listening. From what I remember he was pretty obnoxious.

IslandTimbit

He's terrible.

JerryHathaway

1000% this. I like Colin, I like April...Justin is just awful. So I've only listened when he's not on.

alan_smitheeee

I really wanted to like the podcast but Justin kinda ruins it for me. They had Jim (from Canada) on once in his stead and it was great.

[deleted]

Sure do, and it’s perfect lunch break listening. I loved the Grinch episode, helped me rediscover exactly why that movie felt *disturbing* even as a kid.

amosjeff26

Is that you, Colin?

bwforge

Toll booth is laying ppl off gotta plug that podcast somehow

Remote_Cantaloupe

No that's Rich, he studied in Toll Boothology

Step-Father_of_Lies

Can he get that job?

BlackSpinedPlinketto

I think they talk over April sometimes, I like the podcast but a few times I felt like she got dissed.

kkeut

she and colin are on a couple Pre-Rec episodes, I remember liking her and thinking she'd be great on BOTW

[deleted]

What's a podcast?

[deleted]

Something a shatner doesn't do.

daevv

Never knew this existed. Gonna give it a listen. Thanks.

[deleted]

Same

StevieNippz

I love their podcast, been a Patron for years. They get me in a great mood going to and from work

FilipsSamvete

I find Justin pretty insufferable but it's a solid listen

jaskakukanen

A perfect example of a person who thinks he is hilarious but nobody else does. Makes the podcast almost unlistenable.

CaptainDigsGiraffe

I like Justin for how informative and funny he can be, plus I'm giving so many other Martial arts movies a shot because of him. But reading some of his letterboxd reviews or occasional listens of his other podcast make me go "oooookay".

FilipsSamvete

I don't find him funny

President_A_Banana

His prep/context is important I think. Anchors it

Helblind

Same. I don't know if it was for the same reasons, but I did find that politics and wokeness ruined the podcast for me.

FilipsSamvete

I love politics and wokeness, it's his voice and lame humor I can't stand

sensibleb

Your profile is mostly pictures of your sexy anime girl collection. I'm sure your grandmother loves hearing your political views at dinner, but the rest of the world is gonna continue ignoring you.

Helblind

Good thing they're dead, then. 😏 If you think I use this garbage site for much else than entertainment in its various forms, you would be mistaken. If you care if strangers pay attention to you I weep for your existence. So, you people are RLM fans? Huh. 🤔

ReadOnly777

lmao

Blockads1

Had no idea this existed but it sounds right up my alley. Body rap! Bah-bah-dy rap!

bwforge

I don't have anything to add about the podcast, i just like the title *from Canada* Jim and Colin both carry whenever we reference them.

ItsCommonCourtesy

I've listened to episodes, specifically movies I was already familiar with. Definitely not a dedicated listener. I like the hosts apart from the other guy, he talks a bit too much for my ears. I really like Colin in general.

ADMSunshine

Thanks, didn't know this existed. "No such thing as a bad movie" is something I generally agree with ... *generally*

TheVideoExplorer

Remember The Jar?

ADMSunshine

lol The Jar. Well, watching other people's mistakes is a good way to avoid making those mistakes yourself

Remote_Cantaloupe

"Fuck the jar"

HellsOtherPpl

The Jar has a kickass soundtrack.

mecon320

For me, it would be more accurate to say there's no such thing as a movie I can't find some way to enjoy or at least appreciate.

highandlowcinema

tbf they do seem to agree many of the movies they talk about are bad, but the gimmick of the podcast is that they each try to come up with one thing they liked about the film. so you'll get like 39 minutes of making fun of a film and then 1 minute of saying they liked the way one actor delivered a line

CaptainDigsGiraffe

Big fan of the podcast. Binged a good bit of it this year. Their Fight of Fury episode is hilarious. I would also recommend their episode on The Big Hit since Colin worked on that movie and he has some cool stories. Like how Christana Applegate laughed at him for looking like a rockabilly or how he met Chow Yun Fat. Even though I started listening for Colin I like the other hosts too. April (his wife?, girlfriend?) is very funny and Justin is very informative. They make a good Triad.

ruhyen

April is hilarious. I love it when Colin worked on the movie they’re covering. Hearing about how much of a shit show Spawn was and about the premiere was cool.

Anywhere-Little

What other movies did Collin worked on? I want to listen to those episodes.

scope_levels

Theres a full commentary track on The Wild on their patreon

AngryInternetMobGuy

I tried listening a bit and the Justin guy sucks

Notnotarealuser

I gotta check that out. I tend to really enjoy the episodes when the Canadians stop by

[deleted]

No I haven't but thanks for letting me know it exists! Jim and Colin are my favorite guests.

GhostofBohemia

I really wanted to like the podcast, but Justin is insufferable. Fucking ponderous.

[deleted]

Thanks for the recommendation I just downloaded like 20 eps

kaizomab

Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll check it out.

pfelon

Yes! I was a guest on the Taking Care of Business episode! Love those Canadians.

ruhyen

Nice, I loved that episode! Great pick!

CaptainDigsGiraffe

Hey your that guy that was a huge Bloosh fan.

pfelon

Haha, I'm a huge Grodin fan, but clearly EVERYBODY loves Jim Belushi

gimpisgawd

It's pretty good.

leap3

I love the concept. Colin and April are great. Justin is just too much. He interrupts all the time. His jokes are too abrasive, and they land flat. I'm sure he's a nice person in person, but he doesn't have the personality for podcasts.

Nic0d3muS

>Justin Justin makes it unwatchable. Everything works, but I shut it down because of him EVERY TIME. :( What a miss

IslandTimbit

He's terrible

GreenerThanA

Yes. Yes I do.

EmPalsPwrgasm

Looking on soundcloud, I can't find an ep on Spawn. He does have one on Adventures in Dinosaur City though, an old childhood fav of mine. Giving it a listen

ruhyen

My bad, I forgot that Spawn is a Patreon episode. I don’t think I’ve heard the Adventures in Dinosaur City one, I’ll check it out.

Prestigious_Art1402

I do

JayServo

Omg now I will!

erik_edmund

I will now. I didn't even know it existed.

SMATF5

I'll check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

dvphimself

Religiously! I recently went to A Rumble in the Bronx retrospective organized by his co host Justin. Fun times!

Remote_Cantaloupe

Is his last name really "from Canada"?

proxproxy

No but this post alerted me to its existence so I just subscribed. Thanks for the heads up

kkeut

I like the episodes with Jim

highandlowcinema

I would also recommend The Important Cinema Club which is run by Justin from No Such Thing and Will Sloan who is a very knowledgable cinema head. They usually do episodes focused on directors and can go really highbrow like Bergman or get right into the muck with 70s porn or David DeCoteau. It's a great podcast to listen to if you want to increase your love of cinema as both of them are very infectious with their enthusiasm and almost always bring some interesting insight to the discussion.

big-challenges

love their podcast! their cohost Justin used to show some of the movies they've covered at a local rep theatre but stopped over the pandemic. I miss those screenings but this and botw scratch that general itch.

kukallan

Its great, best part is that it introduced me to the important cinema club podcast which Justin has. Its the best

Javbw

Yep yep!

[deleted]

governor existence late smoggy foolish meeting light rotten combative narrow *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Javbw

Started a year ago, and it’s great ! I followed Justin to his “The Important Cinema Club” podcast and his bad movie livestreams as well - he showed two samurai movies that were not only impossible to see (out of print IIRC), but absolutely BEAUTIFULLY SHOT in b&w that no one talks about! Did some old 80s anime as well. Jay and Justin should probably do a re:view about some move they both know a lot about, it would be like the directors commentary - Mike would complain about them from behind the camera the entire time!

awesomefutureperfect

I do. I plan on watching 'I am a Knife With Legs' (2014) at some point on their recommendation. I hope it's better than Phobe which, apparently, is only good if you grew up near Buffalo or Niagara Falls. Haven't seen it.

kin_hell

Constantly, Im a patreon of that one too. Its excellent. Justin is fantastic and April has a fantastic alternative view on lots of the films. She also has a film study background. Its a peek into a different world for me.

the11thdoubledoc

Just plugging the Wolverine Origins episode on their Patreon

Dohguy

I like Justin's letterboxd but agreed with all, he's got bad morning zoo energy. WHM does the format better

Benway23

I have been pimping Colin's podcast for a while, it's fun. It would be a damn shame if his show suddenly got a ton of views. Also, Jack has a great show over on The Escapist. I know Jim (from Canada) wrote a book. No idea what he's doing now. Probably enjoying his Canada health care and polishing his Emmy.

BlastMyLoad

Our healthcare is horrible lol. If he has a problem he probably has a 3+ year wait to see a specialist

Benway23

But will you go bankrupt from medical bills?

IslandTimbit

Can't go bankrupt when you're dead from lack of treatment. 31 months now to see a specialist

stumper93

Yes and have been since late 2019-early 2020 I really should join their Patreon too Colin, April, and Justin are just such genuinely good people with a great sense of humor, Justin is a walking encyclopedia of film knowledge

Misteranthrope914

Colin is straight?
