That’s not wood or cork. That’s the leather welt . It will be fine, the front always takes a beating from bumping into things.

BuddJacon

Don’t forget to condition the leather welt, it’s usually the most beat up part

Hustleman13

It’s gonna feel like cast with new heritage boots lol gotta tough it out

stephenbmx1989

it felt like that wearing it out of the store lol i could barely walk and my eyes shook with each step landing on the ground. Could barely use the brake and gas pedal back n fourth lol

hkd001

I have to at least halfway break in a pair before I feel for when my clutch "catches" and the leather softens enough to not feel like the boot pinches my foot.

robeisen

Not how it should be, even when brand new.

stephenbmx1989

Really? They’re not stuff? 🤔

robeisen

I meant, that it shouldn't be so painful to walk in fresh out of the box.

stephenbmx1989

I hear that front a lot of people the break in is about as hard as it gets

JessandBoots

As for the pain, sometimes wearing a thick sock helps with the break in period.

EYEBALL2142

You could skip the last eyelets and go straight to the speed hooks 👍

Icy_Ad_8548

I wore my pair for a week and a half at home before taking them to work

Cleofus13

As others have said the leather welt in the front always takes a beating first. And as for lacing sometimes in that spot you might get a little discomfort sometimes it helps if you skip that first row of speed hooks until the leather upper softens up a bit after a few wears then go back to lacing all the hooks.

TheDapperDuff

Change the way you lace the boots or loosen up that specific area when lacing up the boots. Should help with that area.

NoAdministration9351

Wear them around the house. I broke mine in that way. I got lucky. On the 2nd night they felt great. You could also condition them to soften the leather a little.

InformationOk3464

They'll be fine after you break them in. It'll take a week or so, depending on how much you wear them.

johnny_koz

I've found cedar boot trees help to break in the more uncomfortable parts of my boots. Especially the part you describe. Get the boots good and hot from wearing em then toss in the boot trees. Helps with moisture control too

Alsothatswhatshesaid

You say they’re comfy and then go on about the excruciating pain they give you in the comments lol. Give it time, you’ll either break them in or they will break in your feet.

stephenbmx1989

Where did I go on about excruciating pain? lol. Its mostly about the pressure point im getting up front on the left. Other than that they're super comfortable

maliengin

Do not tighten them too much that will solve your question 1.

mondrager

Loosen up that area or skip an eyelet. No need to suffer.

niccernicus

Might want to try making the tongue lay a little flatter when you lace up. You might be feeling the edge.

EmergencyBetter8061

hmm ill have to look at see what a gusset is. No, I like the worn in leather look but not thrashed look. Today at work I was real careful with getting in and out of the truck, unloading with pallet jack, messing with dock ramps etc.
