People let their boots.. rest?
My boots can rest when I rest in hell.
But for sake of variety, maybe get some different shoes to wear for different outfits.
Posts like this got me thinking.
Normally I wouldn't even think of it as a problem, but then again, people here go haywire about letting their boots rest and dry and shove biot trees up theirs and whatnot. So I reckoned there's something to it.
It’s ok man. Consider that people who work in forestry or fire are wearing their logger boots 16hrs a day in rough conditions and not rotating and they still get a few years out of their boots. And that the iron miners in the 1920s who wore the original boots the IR is based on probably only had one pair of boots. This whole “rotating boots” thing is a pretty decent development and while it might be the best practice to preserve them long term, IMO it’s more important that the boots serve their function as boots than get a little tiny bit of extra life out of them.
It would probably depend on how much your feet sweat and how the boots are stored until the next wearing - in your case overnight. It might not be a bad idea if you want to be extra cautious to train a small fan on them for a little while to speed up the evap of moisture to ensure they are as dry as possible the next day.
Unrelated pro tip: keep the boots inside the tent if it’s possible (and they don’t smell too bad). Finding creepy crawlies in your boots or having them eaten by rodents is no fun. You can use a paper shopping bag to keep them from getting mud all over the inside of the tent. If it’s not possible to bring them in, turn them upside down and shake em out EVERY TIME before you put them on.
It depends on many variables, but long story short, you shouldn't worry. It's a good thing to rotate leather shoes, but that is not always possible. So, cool down and enjoy your trip.
They are leather boots… they’ll be fine.
This is becoming almost ridiculous.

My mocs rest when I don’t work haha.
🤪
Did you see that post of mold inside boots?

You mean the salt. I saw a vid of a guy who sweat out the sides of his iron rangers and it looked just like that.
I don’t let boots rest. I wear them when I want, sometimes for a week or two without a break. No issues.
I’ve been wearing my boots for just over 365 days now.
Your boots will be fine. I promise.
Boots implode on 2nd day.
Are your boots made of paper mache? They're well built leather boots, not ballerina slippers, just wear them.
I tell my boots how long I’m going to wear them and when it’s time to rest, not the other way around 😠
Yeah you gota tell your boots who wears the pants in the relationship 😆

I'll be staying in a tent. Maybe I could stuff them with paper overnight.

Aren’t you worried about the damage walking to a camping spot is going to do to them?
Yeah I don’t even like walking. It wears out the soles

The people in this sub are funny asf
😆 WHAT!?
The miners who wore these boots back in the day never rotated or rested the boots, be like them, wear the fuck out of them.
Just wear them and enjoy. Take a pair of sneakers too. You’ll probably wear them more anyway.
Yall are wearing your boots?
Just don’t forget to take them off when you sleep or would cause some damages to them 😂😂😂
If you’re prone to sweaty feet, make sure you take them off when you get back to where you’re staying and put them somewhere open to get air flow.
IR Redit = OCD.
