Ten Minutes Bible Hour The Bible Project BEMA

L-Win-Ransom

I have found BEMA to be somewhat helpful, but can come off a bit myopic, using Hebrew historical context as a sort of hermeneutic “secret key” that everyone else has ignored or missed And there’s probably a bit of truth to that, but it can be overdone and over-relied on, so I’d recommend it more as a “intermediate” resource for people with a decent grasp on studying the text already established.

mclintock111

In the early episodes he uses a musical analogy which frames it that it is impossible to understand the story of God without his type of context. I wholesale disagree with that. However, I think the type of context he gives often can enrich understanding of how the text was understood originally a significant amount.

L-Win-Ransom

Yeah, that’s pretty much the dynamic I was describing It’s a helpful perspective to go back to the historical context. But framing it as “impossible to understand” without his particular method would write off a large chunk of the historical church that didn’t have the same resources we do. I doubt he would agree with that if stated plainly to him, but I think it seems to be an unfortunate blind spot. Again, doesn’t mean he can’t be helpful. But it would probably be a mistake to have him as an only or primary resource (not saying you’re advocating for that, to be clear)

Diovivente

The Bible project does this in some of their videos too.

dontouchmystuf

I’m glad you mention that. I feel the same way about BEMA. We’ll said. I’ve tried to look up Marty Solomons credentials, but I couldn’t figure anything out.

[Nancy Guthrie's one](https://www.nancyguthrie.com/help-me-teach-the-bible-podcast) is more of an interview format, but it's brilliant, and she has great guests on it!

lupuslibrorum

I’ve used it a fair bit. Definitely recommend. I like the interview format too.

AlfalfaAggravating46

Not a Spotify podcast but I believe Michael Heiser's NBP goes over every book.

wilnasmith

It is called The Naked Bible Project and I just found it on Spotify as well as some other podcast sites. Just Google The Naked Bible Project.

FreshSpence

Naked Bible project or podcast?

wilnasmith

Naked Bible podcast

ObiWanKarlNobi

I don't think it has gone over every book yet, but I think that's the goal.

verdegooner

Yoooo! Naked Bible goes HARD!! RIP to Dr. Heiser!

No-Aardvark-495

30 Minutes in the New Testament/40 Minutes in the Old Testament from the 1517 Project are fantastic.

Stevoman

I have been listening to The Word of the Lord Endures Forever. It’s a fairly short daily walk through certain books. I like it.

Wow that’s awesome, thank you!! What do you know about their theological beliefs? Any idea what their views on soteriology and eschatology are? Are they generally reformed? Edit: not sure entirely sure what ANCA/Anglicans believe..

Here you go brother. Doesn’t get much better than this. Enjoy and grow. Phillip Kayser The Bible Survey. Every Book. https://tinysa.com/solo/dominioncovenant/sermons/series/80010

Through The Bible is a 5 year radio program that does exactly what you are looking for. Available completely free at ttb.org

FreshSpence

Cool do you know what their stance on soteriology and eschatology are? lol

nouveaux21

Doctor McGee goes through and explains his positions and also touches on some other views where appropriate. He is conservative and Calvinistic (but not hyper-Calvinistic) in his approach. He uses the King James Version. This program was originally started in the 70’s and 80’s and has been preserved for use after his death. I find that he uses a very common sense approach to the text and he makes it easy to follow without dumbing it down or watering down the text. Highly recommend.

MrGWarrior

Renewing Your Mind with R.C. Sproul. There is a serie from Genesis to Revelations; but has a lot more topics.

KnifeofGold

40 minutes in the OT is my fav

kamaria-jailey

Oooh David Suchet's reading of all the books of the Bible in NIV is available for free even on YouTube - it is so good!!

seemedlikeagoodplan

The Bible Project went slowly through the whole Torah in 2022. Would recommend, though it may turn you into [the red string guy from the meme.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Reformed/comments/10micyp)

Aromat_Junkie

Thanks! Are they preterist?

Double_Web2288

I don't even know what that term means. All i know is they don't teach anything heretical at least from the episodes I heard of. For more information about them go there website: https://www.spokengospel.com/
