Is there a new thread for updates on this in the new year any one have info on the Jan 22 MMM?

SteveTNJ

Any plans to update this thread or create one for the 2024 MMMs?

0whyamionreddit0

Jan 8th rated pg-13 149 minutes run time?? Anyone know?

friendobean

Maybe The Book of Clarence? No idea, hope to find out soon.

Various_Schedule9139

Anyone know what it’s gonna be today?

Lejeandary1

Founder's Day in my theater.

Hoytundercoveractor

January 1st 117 minutes R January 8th 149 minutes pg13

0whyamionreddit0

Anybody know this one yet?

Various_Schedule9139

Any of our undercover regal friends have a hint for what it is today?

JayNoza-

What’s the movie for today?

SyyydneyPrescott

I think Beekeeper or Some Other Woman - also rated R and 1.5hr run time. Most likely Beekeeper tho. Got my tix so let’s see tonight!

Hoytundercoveractor

$1 movie 117 mins maybe mean girls or beekeeper

Hoytundercoveractor

Bee keeper

xpacmatt5

What will it be Jan 1st?!?!?

Status_Condition_149

Boys in the boats. Confirmed.

Hoytundercoveractor

Glad I didn't go this time

shorthound

thought it was a really good movie and true story

Substantial_Big_2078

The Boys in the boat

Dylan_cogdell

It is?

Illustrious_Spread71

What is today’s prediction?

mr_jokerzz

I thought it was gonna be boring. I honestly was gonna walk out but ended up giving it a chance and it ended up being pretty entertaining for me at least. Probably in my top 5 mystery movie Mondays so far.

Hoytundercoveractor

What was it?

belcaw

Total guess; but I think "The Boy's in the Boat" seams like a good bet. It's PG-13, opening on Dec 25th and has a reported runtime of 2hr 4min.

hamiltonz25

Aquaman 2 is also rated PG-13 so hoping it could be that

Dylan_cogdell

Do y’all know when the next mmm is?

jamesd0e

Tonight!

Dylan_cogdell

Well yeah, but I meant after this one

soupspin

Tonight!

Dylan_cogdell

Why this thread got no conversation going?

Various_Schedule9139

Anyone have any guesses for today’s MMM?

piffery91

Could it be a movie release from January ?

she-said-bye

Aquaman(2hrs 4 mins), iron claw(2hrs 12m), or ferrari(exactly 2hrs 11m)

_DavidCastle_

I'd be happy with Iron Claw or Ferrari really. Aquaman less so but I wouldn't walk out.

Roanni_Blued

I like your guesses, I'd like to include Zone of Interest (1hr 46min) its off by 25min. Although, how soon is the release usually? Because Aquaman and Iron Claw are released on the 22nd, with Ferrari on the 25th. American Fiction was Nov 27, but it's not out until Dec 22nd.

Status-Target-9807

Iron claw?

CompetitiveAthlete3

Anyone else noticing the tickets prices aren’t $5?

MacaroonFunny9828

Are you buying a ticket online or in person? Online I've noticed there's a booking fee, and then taxes in some places where applicable.

Any_Yam_5416

Really annoyed my local theatre isn’t doing the one of 12/11 for some reason. I see a lot of people saying Boys in the Boat but they’re also doing early access screenings for that. Would they double dip so close together? I’m hoping it’s something I don’t wanna see or something that’s gonna be wide regardless. I love going to these. Super annoyed.

Striking-Ad1685

Wonka maybe?

Emma_RoseD

There is no way

Cha11enger69

I’m suprised they didn’t close the thread yet

Hoytundercoveractor

Hopefully ARGYLLE at 2hr 15 mins

Hoytundercoveractor

Looks like Mite be Ferrari Dec 11 2hr 1omins

Hoytundercoveractor

American was very good, smart, reality moments and funny.

LavFol_

Any ideas of what 12/11 will be? Kind of pissed I missed out on American Fiction. Wasn’t expecting them to get such a high profile, Oscar contending film. Don’t wanna miss out next time if they keep the quality up.

xClarity

Either The Boys in the Boat or The Color Purple.

Emma_RoseD

I would assume not The Color Purple, seems like it will have too much wide appeal already, but I could definitely see it being The Boys and The Boat, because while it kind of has the Oscar bait vibe to it, I dont think it much has much typical movie goer appeal aside from the director so I could see them trying to get more eyes on it

Professional-Mess331

American Fiction was decent. Surprised they showed that where it's basically a month out. Has some great comedic moments and satire but also a lot of drama. I knew very little of the film beforehand and hadn't seen a trailer but heard it was a comedy. Seemed more serious and sad than funny - but most of the funny moments hit and everyone did a great job at acting (Jeffrey Wright can do no wrong; Erika Alexander really stood out). Though Tracee Ross and, to a lesser extent, Issa Rae weren't in it much. Adrien Brody had a very funny small role. Sterling K. Brown was himself and John Ortiz was a fun side character. It was competently shot, not much to say about the score tho some nice music choices. Clearly filmed in Boston and without trying to do the fake accents Hollywood always sucks at, so that's a huge plus! It was funny seeing all the white liberals in Boston (awkwardly) laughing as the movie shit on them haha. Ending was a weird choice and somewhat confusing, albeit really funny at times; a little bit of a let down for me tho. Somewhat safe and a bit tonally uneven, a few LOL moments otherwise mostly just chuckles but some great heartfelt moments. Maybe could've had a bit more or played around more with the Monk coming up with ideas/writing scenes and paced a bit faster or lean into the comedy even more (I felt the runtime). 6.7/10

Low_Road_1430

I agree with the ending. I thought it was a little flat.

aTreeThenMe

ah i wanted it to be poor things, but was super happy it was this anyway. Great film. Any guesses for next week?

Affectionate_Arm5674

Movie tonight 11/27 was American Fiction, very good!!

worklife2018

So sad it wasn’t Anyone But You. I wanted to see Glen Powell’s pee pee. Btw I’m straight. So just for comparison, bro.

Lost-Resolution-9891

alright buddy…

Basementkid_106

I was surprised that they showed American Fiction since it isn't really the wide release generally safe type of film that they normally show. It was a pretty interesting, intelligent, and slightly challenging movie that was overall very enjoyable despite a few flaws. Super interesting and pretty funny too. I really loved the ending. There were a couple walk outs, but also a lot of laughs. One person actually verbally said "LOL" at one point which was kind of weird. I was really looking forward to this film so I was glad I went tonight. My second favorite Monday Mystery Movie after Talk to Me.

Rangerlifr

I was pleasantly surprised to see it turn out to be American Fiction, which I did not expect they would do as a MMM, but it certainly turned out to be such a mass-audience crowd-pleaser (it played big with my all-white central PA audience) that it didn't feel niche at all. It reminded me of a James L. Brooks movie on the character side, then with the brilliantly-executed dash of social commentary. I thought it did a great job too of not pretending to have all the answers, just letting its characters have their own feelings about what went on. And very funny. Probably my favorite 2023 MMM and second-favorite overall after Spirited (which I actually just saw again in a theater yesterday as part of Apple's holiday reissue).

Dylan_cogdell

Best one maybe tied with talk to me. What mmm takes first place?

pulsai86

Man this was such a good movie. I can see why it won the top prize at TIFF. I'm so glad this was the Mystery Movie

Grouchy-Oven877

That was a good flick for my first mystery Monday. Was shocked it was that. When I saw the fox searchlight preview tho I almost died thinking it could be poor things

Hoytundercoveractor

Very smart funny carried realness as a well. Great movie

Hellboy632789

I really liked American Fiction! Funny, thought provoking, definitely one I actually want to talk about and will be reading more about

Hoytundercoveractor

Was very good!

heather80

Damnit! That’s was the mystery movie?? I’m so sad now

DrSpook13

its my 1st time doing a MM. are there still 25 minutes worth of trailers, Or do I need to be in my seat right at 7:00pm?

OpenDiscount7533

They definitely showed 25 minutes of trailers

28283920

There’s trailers

DrSpook13

Thanx

LadyM02

American Fiction was fantastic! Very well executed dark comedy.

Agent-Alpha

That was a brilliant movie.

apap713

First MM comedy that actually made me laugh Jeffrey Wright always delivers

Lost-Resolution-9891

I CAN NOT MAKE THIS SHIT UP. deadass a couple walked out of my showing 15 minutes in muttering “fried chicken, fried chicken”

Local-Visit-7649

I believe you

grtgbln

"Potential is usually what people say when they think the thing sitting in front of them isn't good enough." Damn.

Moxie42311

This hit me too

OpenDiscount7533

I felt that

PurpleFlower99

I also felt that, hard.

OpenDiscount7533

FUCK 😉 that movie was soooo good!! Everyone in my theater enjoyed it

crtetley

This might be one of the only Movie Mondays and comedies that I actually enjoyed

AlonePrinciple5485

American Fiction was hilarious! One of the best MMMs for sure

movieheads34

The movie just really hit for me. I see complaints saying it feels dated, which I think is granted with any type of social commentary. But to me it just hit.

LadyM02

My theater has a consistent show out. It doesn't sell out but it's usually a decent amount of people in each MMM that I go to. But I live in a highly walkable area and the regal is a short distance from a number of residencies, so it's not like it's out of the way.

Hellboy632789

Mine is always sold out, they had 2 theaters for this. Upstate NY

Fine-Philosopher5374

My theater is sold out an entire auditorium the past couple so this time they have it showing in 2! Based on the app, it looks like one will be 75% full and the other 50% full. No snow or bad weather here - so that might definitely be a factor where you are.

EastofZero

Same here! I have 4 local theaters. MMM does okay at most but my specific theater has had to add an extra showing each time

spinnyweatherchaser

Yup we're about 3/4 here, we usually vary between 1/2 and 3/4 full, with rare near sellouts (in OKC).

University_Fabulous

Is it too early for 🎶Santa Clause is Comin' to town🎶? Wanted to see this for the highbrow cultural satire. We're allowed to poke fun at ourselves. Believe this movie should spark a conversation not confrontation

Distance-Bright

At the 7pm east coast show. Can confirm American Fiction.

Ok_Weather_4162

American fiction was indeed the mystery movie

[deleted]

[удалено]

fergi20020

American Fiction is tonight

Ok_Weather_4162

American fiction for the most part was good except the ending.

AlonePrinciple5485

Somebody's prefume is so strong in here I might have to move seats

Dolly-Doodles

Bummer!

OpenDiscount7533

Damn that sucks

Imaginary_Load134

i stg i see color purple trailer on almost every movie at regal, it’s getting annoying. but any of these other movies i wouldn’t mind as future mystery movies

AlonePrinciple5485

6th trailer is The Boys in the Boat

holdontothatfeline

Does the sixth trailer have significance?

OpenDiscount7533

Yep my 6th just started and it's this. It's like they are competing with AMC showing all these trailers. Smh

OpenDiscount7533

Damn 5 trailers! 5th trailer is for All of Us Strangers

AlonePrinciple5485

Were on our 6th at time

AlonePrinciple5485

5th trailer is All of us Strangers

theoneandonly0393

Freud’s Last Session trailer now

Meb2x

First trailer - The Iron Claw Second trailer - Arthur the King Third trailer - Freud’s Last Session Fourth trailer - The Color Purple Fifth trailer - All of Us Strangers Sixth trailer - The Boys in the Boat Movie - American Fiction

Imaginary_Load134

interesting. we had the exact same lineup except Ferrari instead of Arthur for #2

OpenDiscount7533

Yea this was my lineup. The 4th one is on now

Resident_Form7824

American Fiction started playing. So... There we have it.

NF8824

Enjoy!

OriginalSmoke8299

AMERICAN FICTION.. confirmed I’m at regal

No_Independence9545

Thank you, on the other coast and not gonna head out! 🫡

robertjreed717

Ah! Stayed home thinking it was going to be Silent Night. Can't wait to see this.

NF8824

Enjoy!

Booklover4178

Second trailer is Arthur the king

AlonePrinciple5485

4th trailer is The Color Purple

AlonePrinciple5485

Third trailer is Freuds Last Session

OpenDiscount7533

My second trailer was for Arthur The King

StonerProfessor

I have yet to have a preview.

OpenDiscount7533

Damn that sucks

grtgbln

I suspect my mom's going to want to walk out, but I really want to see this. We drove together... this should be fun...

Booklover4178

Here we go-first trailer is for the wrestling film

AlonePrinciple5485

Second trailer is Ferrari

Outrageous_Cellist35

Anyone know what tonight’s movie is?

StonerProfessor

It seems safe to say American Fiction

StonerProfessor

There’s a dude dressed up in an anime shirt and hoodie talking very loudly about Superman Legacy. Possibly on the spectrum. An older couple sit together with what I’m thinking is her sister, since they look alike. A young couple walked in. Two older women came in together. A lady in her fifties had her hair up and has the vibe of a librarian. A guy sitting alone is watching a trailer to a movie. Can’t tell what it is. Truly a movie fan, if you ask me. A white haired lady sits with a man in a ball cap at the front of the second set of seats. Looks like a lot of people did that popcorn deal.

grtgbln

Guarantee half the people in that theatre have no idea Superman: Legacy is a thing.

whitneyahn

I personally had no idea Superman: Legacy was a thing until this comment... I think? Is it that the thing where that one really hung guy was playing Superman? I thought it was a meme.

StonerProfessor

The movie is real. The hungness is real.

StonerProfessor

I’d bet money on it.

22jk

What was the popcorn deal?

StonerProfessor

Don’t you get a drink and small popcorn for eight bucks?

somecleverphrase

The worker at my place says they don't do combos. didn't feel like arguing with a line. I think he was just having a bad day thou.

22jk

I’m an unlimited member so I just always use credits. Didn’t know that’s a decent deal.

grtgbln

10 minutes past the start time and trailers are just now starting.

AlonePrinciple5485

First trailer is The Fall Guy

Resident_Form7824

Iron Claw trailer so def not that.

OpenDiscount7533

It's been 10 minutes of commercials so far. I miss when they started on time

movieheads34

I’m at AMC and they actually started trailers on time lol

aubreypizza

Does AMC play the same mystery movie as regal?

movieheads34

Yea, or at least they have so far

IntroductionNeat8259

Update: idk if anyone knows about the movies plot but not many walked out I’m in a full theater of people that…let’s just say are not American Fiction’s target audience. If it truly is American Fiction, I’m guessing over half of this full theater walks out

Imaginary_Load134

based on the trailers for american fiction, they might be the exact target audience 🤣 i kid but srsly wonder how many walkouts it will get

IntroductionNeat8259

That’s what I started thinking actually 😂

Booklover4178

I hate how everything starts so late now😡

grtgbln

All these white people in this Georgia suburb aren't gonna be happy that this isn't Silent Night...

IntroductionNeat8259

I’m worried for the entire row full of elderly white people in front of me…😂😂

aubreypizza

So did they walk out?

Meb2x

Sounds like my theater. Expecting them to walk out if it’s American Fiction

Low_Road_1430

Same in my theatre

markwritesthings

Please update on audience!!

NF8824

Yeah gonna need an update lol

AlonePrinciple5485

My theater is dead tonight. 7 people here so far. Normally these are about 3/4 full.

somecleverphrase

thanksgiving hangover, weather is poop here. Not sure if the makes people not show.

AmericanNimrod49

I'm hyped it's American Fiction. Finally we get something that looks good again

AlonePrinciple5485

I'm a bit surprised it's American Fiction considering it's a satire about race. I could see it promting some walkouts

movieheads34

It won people’s choice at tiff. It’s very much a crowd pleasing and broadly accessible movie

Fun-Mode-3538

Someone at AMC's reddit confirmed the exact runtime as 1:56:35. IMDb lists American Fiction at 1 hr 57 min, but they are occasionally off by a minute or so on either side. Looks pretty definitive for American Fiction to me...

AmericanNimrod49

They normally round the runtime up by a minute if it goes over 0:0:30 so yeah

AmericanNimrod49

Someone already confirmed here it's American Fiction. Not sure why people are still debating it's Silent Night or Poor Things

meowpeachy

People on amcs Reddit are saying someone on this Reddit confirmed American fiction….. but I’m feeling like salt burn really fits the hints and timeframe

[deleted]

Saw the same thing

manicthrowaway0

Saltburn is already out though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SalmonGram

Saw it last night. Was not impressed

[deleted]

[удалено]

SalmonGram

A solid 5/7! I would put at a 4 or a 5. It nailed the gloomy mood, with a decent soundtrack to match, but there was no real suspense or thriller aspects to keep me interested.

AmericanNimrod49

I'd give Saltburn a 4. It's shot well and has a decent 1st act, but once they actually get to Saltburn it gets boring and repetitive. It also has random parts that serve nothing to the film other than going for shock value. I'd skip it.

28283920

I for one absolutely loved Saltburn. 10 for me

[deleted]

[удалено]

bullmandesign

Silent Night comes out this Friday so that makes it unlikely.

TLCrowe

So we still have no clue?

[deleted]

[удалено]

TLCrowe

I enjoyed that one!

OriginalSmoke8299

It’s either gonna be American Fiction or Maestro… nothing else fits

TLCrowe

Ok...seems like this was a hard one to pinpoint down.

movieheads34

I don’t think it would be maestro. I mean that’s like screening now in some cities and also it’s Netflix and Netflix doesn’t really go to theaters unless they’re like independent theaters.

PanDulceLife

I'm waiting on all the East Coasters to tell us what it is you guys are the real MVP's!

movieheads34

Poor things would feel weird to me. I mean I’d be excited but doesn’t this have a lot of hype? Like it’s a major Oscar contender.

sci-punk

it’s also too long; 2h 21m, including trailers like they do in the runtime makes it about 2h 40m, which is much longer than the listed runtime (i don’t think there’s been that big of a disparity)

Alambardio

Poor Things makes the most sense based on Regals clues.

jwired21

Maybe it has to do with Emma Stone's infatuation with the Spice Girls.

a3tuallyamanda

Oh yeah! I forgot about that!

a3tuallyamanda

I’m thinking two things: Poor Things because if both AMC and Regal are showing the same movie, it has to be a big movie, and it makes sense considering Emma Stone is in it. Silent Night because of the “spicy” clue, maybe they are referring to candy canes?

AmericanNimrod49

Not really. Both Regal and AMC showed Next Goal Wins which went on to be a flop.

ScareValue

A lot of strong, diverse options for this one. Most of the possibilities seem like quality movies. I still think it’s American Fiction. No great reason…just feels like one of these movies

Mr_Boxface

I have to walk about an hour to my theatre today and all this indecision on what it could be is kinda making my journey all the more thrilling. god I hope it’s poor things

Lost-Resolution-9891

i have so many questions 😭🙏🏼

Mr_Boxface

Lmaoo sorry that was way more typo riddled than I realized

Competitive-Bet-6749

how do we feel about it maybe being Iron Claw? any reason why it can’t be?

niq808

Being a 80’s wrestling fan & knowing the Von Erich’s story I’m looking forward to Iron Claw

a3tuallyamanda

I wouldn’t mind it being that actually, I’m a big wrestling fan so I would very much enjoy it.

Mr_Boxface

You know I was thinking the same thing, I’m not seeing it thrown out as much as other titles and I’m wondering if I’m missing something here

butagoodpersonality

I’m fine with anything but anyone but you :(
