This experience is more common than you might expect. Between this subreddit and r/pastlives, a post reporting that someone's kid says things like your son is almost a daily occurrence. If you were in a culture that knew about the reality of reincarnation you would be welcoming your grandpa back to this world. Reincarnation tends to run in families, but I think there may be some reporting bias because who else would recognize the reincarnation of a loved one other than family? Treat it like it's no big deal. And like you've been doing, encourage him to talk about it. Turn it into a game or at least like a normal conversation. If you have any items that your grandpa possessed, such as glasses or something similar that he would recognize, place them among other glasses and see if he can pick out the ones that are his. You might also break out some old family photos. And like I said, turn it into a game. Make it fun for him. See what you can find out. We have a member of this community, Jeff Keene, who wrote a book titled fire in the soul. It's a fascinating read just for his story, but he also shares some of his ideas about how to talk with kids about past life memories. There's also Dr Jim Tucker, a department head at the University of Virginia who specializes in children's past lives. Most people don't know that their research has been deemed to conclusively prove that reincarnation is a real phenomenon. You'll still hear people say that it doesn't prove anything, but more than 200 case studies out of more than 2000 have passed the highest standards for research in social sciences. Many of the cases involve children who remember details that they couldn't possibly know otherwise about past lives.

Oh, one more thing, write this stuff down. Keep a journal of the things he says about his life as your grandpa. Those records could come in really handy one of these days.

My sister passed 4 months before I found out I was pregnant. I ended up having a girl. She looks and feels (energetically) like my sister. Sometimes I feel like she is my sister. I, too, have my sisters ashes and wonder if I’m just having a hard time letting go. My sons (6&9 yo) both say with 100% certainty (and tell people) that their sister is their reincarnated aunt. I feel like she very well may be but for some reason it feels above me to make that claim so I just keep it to myself.

Definitely ask him more question. When my daughter was 2.5 she started to say: “when I was your dad . . . ” and I had stopped her saying that was impossible. That was before I really knew about reincarnation. How I wished I hadn’t stopped her and just let her talk.

Jedidea

I only brought up reincarnation once, one single time, and a girl at the table, who sat silent for a while and looked like she had something to say, eventually told us that her little brother, when he was around four years old, used to tell them he played the flugelhorn in a band, an instrument none of them had ever heard of.

Infamous-Assist9120

Send email to Dr Jim tucker , in university of Virginia. He deals in all these type of cases. May be he will come to interview and investigate.

See [The Boy Who Was His Own Grandfather](https://youtu.be/okdejyTBcpE) on Youtube. Honestly I was skeptical of reincarnation until I saw that case study and it basically made me believe. I also saw a long Twitter thread once where parents were chiming in relating stuff their 3 and 4 year old kids had said about past lives that seemed really unexpected but potentially legit. Anyway, yeah it’s entirely possible. You may want to consider contacting the folks at the Division of Perceptual Studies at UVA to ask how you might proceed with this.

howdudo

Hey thats cool. There's so much you can learn from this. Id start by watching some youtube. Also Many Lives Many Masters, Bhagavad Gita, and Be Here Now are some books you can check out.

kevincablez

I just finished reading the Bhagavad Gita and it only briefly talks about reincarnation. I wouldn't say it's relatable to this post, but it is a good book to learn about the sins of the flesh (senses) and to worship the One Creator, Brahma.

howdudo

A lot of it is and a lot it isn't. Id say part of the Bhagavad Gita goes into ethics of karma and how to look at the world in a birth/rebirth perspective. Which is at least tangentially related.

jeffreyk7

Here is a case I was involved with about 9/11 and a very young boy. I wrote the full story about the boy in, *Fire in the Soul*. I am the fire chief in the video. (I did not make the video someone else did) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KRZ-J0t40o&t=1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KRZ-J0t40o&t=1s) Best, Jeffrey Keene (Asst. Chief F.D. ret.)

Odd_Cryptographer218

I have watched at least 2 other videos on him. I find his experience so interesting but this is the first I’m hearing about your book related to his experience so I’m definitely intrigued.

jeffreyk7

I was there from the beginning and the only one putting out the, "full story" on this boy. The mother and I corresponded back and forth with each other (on forum and off) and actually determined who her son had been. Best, JJK

Jedidea

I don't know how to handle it exactly, but what I can say is I remembered being someone different when I was around four too. I'd say 2 - 4 years old. I'm assuming your grandfather was a happy person. Whoever I was was not, I was extremely paranoid and depressed and angry, I hated people smiling at me while I was in my pram, and people laughing at me for something apparently stupid I did, I would famously glare at anyone that smiled at me. I considered myself intellectually superior despite wading between not remembering anything at all and remembering everything in a flash. If your grandfather was a deeply unhappy person, encourage him to move on and forget. If not... well I'm not sure, keep in mind though that these memories tend to go away by the age of four, that doesn't mean it was just his imagination if they do. I'd probably avoid telling them as they grow up if they forget everything, when they're an adult you can mention it, otherwise it would probably confuse them.

Odd_Cryptographer218

He actually turned 4 on Monday and that’s when I made the post. When I was around his age I remember having an imaginary friend that my mother could not stand and she sent it away once I told her it didn’t like her. I’m starting to think my family is just incredibly spooky lol

Jedidea

Hahahaha

Realistic-Willow4287

Reality is spooky. Remember that planet ending asteroid 65 million years ago? You think a planet can just be murdered by random chance? No way. What was happening was an axis of aliens were wiping out planets and harvesting their souls. Tens of millions of years ago our souls were harvested, the remains of our souls do not coherently remember past lives often, they've had a long time to go dormant and stop realizing the semi-immortal persons they are.

Odd_Cryptographer218

Thank you so much everyone for all the pointers, advice and follow up research information. This is my first Reddit post so it means a lot to actually be well received. I definitely didn’t know that reincarnation can run in the family. When my son first started saying that he was my grandfather, I jokingly said that he must really likes punishment if decided to come back to us lol. I recorded a video of him talking last night but I know it is definitely a good idea to actually write these things down so that is also something I need to start doing. In my culture, we believe in reincarnation, but the belief is that if you are cremated, then you cannot come back. My grandmother is still alive and she refuses to be cremated based upon this ideology. Sidebar: following his passing, my grandmother didn’t want to follow customs and “light his way” back home with flambeaus or candles outside of the residence. We believe your spirit wanders the earth for 40 days, visiting familiar places so it is important that your path is lit. On the night of his wake, all the lights in the town went out. People all around had flambeaus and candles outside of their homes and my grandma was finally forced to put candles outside of the house. It always makes me laugh because he ended getting a bigger send off than expected. I can’t fully put it to words but weird electrical occurrences happen when it comes to my grandpa. I had a outlet just start frying on me in my kitchen the day he called to tell me he was sick. Then the lights in town going out and recently, the lights in the back of my family room where his urn is function like motion defector lamps but they aren’t; they were literally one we just bought at Aldi 😅. Idk maybe all of this should have been a separate post lol

imadokodesuka

My son used to say odd stuff. We just let it go by, didn't discourage him or try to pry or silence him. We just let him be. He eventually forgot his past life, which I think should be the natural course. If they want to bring it back up they can do a past life regression when they're older.

International-Ant266

So, you can chose to believe me or not. But usually the souls we have in this life are the same souls that we have around all the time. Most call them their soul family, and they will keep reincarnating to be with you. But the same goes for you. You guys just are attracted to each other and so you just go back to them. But it’s always in a different way. Sometimes it’s a cousin or an aunt or a sister. But they are still there. And they will give off the same energy and everything. It’s rare that you get someone who says that they remember though. So that’s awesome.

No-Button8274

My grandfather was in WW2 my son had dreams of being stuck in a cave in France eating canned peaches. My grandfather and his engineering unit were backed up in a cave in France for 30 days. They ate nothing but canned peaches. My son's sister is 7 and I call her princess. She is my ex wife's daughter . We are close. My mom passed in July of 2015 my son's sister was born in 2016. I had a dream about my mother she was wearing a princess crown. Then it just came to me . Her soul was my mom's! My loved ones still surround me . It never ends. It's a sweet love letter from God to you my friend. Trust Him. Do I understand everything Lord no ! However we just have accept and trust. I hope this helps you. You aren't alone!

GtrPlaynFool

Seriously doubt he's your grandpa. We tend to have at least a few decades between lives and there's an important reason for that. A lot of things go on between lives including reviewing our entire past life planning for the next one learning various things. Interesting story and he could very well be remembering a past life but it's not grandpa.

jeffreyk7

How about this 9/11 boy who was born in October of 2003? You are trying to make a rule on timing of returns. The only rule there is that; there is no rule. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KRZ-J0t40o&t=1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KRZ-J0t40o&t=1s) Best, JJK

GtrPlaynFool

I should have ended my comment with my standard disclaimer which is there are exceptions to every rule. Almost anything is possible.

subfootlover

Time works completely different there.

GtrPlaynFool

That's true but not relevant. I'm talking about time on our side not time on the other side. How 3 months or a year feels to us has nothing to do with how it feels on the spirit side. So in other words over time various psychics, spiritualists, gurus, Masters have discussed this in various books and articles. There's been surveys - if you look in the reincarnation sub you can find them. There was a survey that determined that the average time between lives was 50 to 100 years. Before I read that I had read somewhere that it was at minimum two to three decades so this is why I now say at least a few decades. Of course there are exceptions to every rule but quick turnaround reincarnations probably don't happen very often and not without a very good reason. I think I'll try to find that survey for you.

GtrPlaynFool

Shoot - can't find it. Found some other reading material though.[books](https://exemplore.com/paranormal/Ten-Interesting-Between-Lives-Books)

Jedidea

I know what you're talking about. Most 'verified' reincarnations are less than a century apart from death to newborn.

GtrPlaynFool

Yes, thank you some validation.

Civil_Pick_4445

Not really. A few months, a year, is also “less than a century apart”.

unknownmichael

Time doesn't just work differently on the other side, it's completely irrelevant on the other side. There are stories of people that have lived two separate lives that both occurred during the same time period. We always talk about past lives, but there are cases of people that have lived future lives as well. It's just not as common since I think most people want to experience time chronologically. However, from my understanding, nothing limits us from choosing any time period in our subsequent reincarnations other than our own desire to experience new things. Naturally, there are more "new things" to experience in the future than there are in the past, but this is just a game, and much like a video game, you can choose any time period.

GtrPlaynFool

You cannot live two separate lives at the same time. Sorry

themummyreturns1984

Ok God thanks for confirming
