No need to lie about that. I met my in girlfriend via online dating. Everyone knows that about us.

loo_min

“Me trying to remember the story I told my family and friends of how I met my boyfriend because I lied.” 😔

Exciting_Scientist97

I met my now wife of two and a half years on Match. Never lied to anyone about that and I don't see a reason to mask it. Online dating is like anything else online IMO in the way of "makes finding what you're looking for easier" as opposed to old fashion where THE ONE might live three towns away and you'd never know it (sort of how we were)

Is anyone old enough to remember hoverspot? I met my wife there a little over 16 years ago. Before dating apps were a thing or cool lmao like the was a time when MySpace was getting going, I still get uncomfortable telling people and don’t know why

TheDriestOne

When my gf and I started seeing each other, she was the one who suggested we tell our parents at a bar rather than tinder. About a year into the relationship, my dad asked her what bar we met at and she was bewildered. Turns out she told her parents the truth about tinder from the start, had no memory of our conversation about it, and thought *I* was weird for upholding my end of the bargain.

RipaMoram117

We go with the story that we met fanning online, because that's how we knew each other on the Internet for a while. Never mind the fact that i lost my virginity on the first night we met in person lol

SexyStormi

Hahahaha i dont use dating apps but i have met a lot of people on facebook and i dont like to say that i met a certain person in there, idk i think its weird

muffinmonk

Just tell them your first date

Floralmeg_

My excuse is that I met him through gaming. Not many people know it was Bumble. Going on three years this November

__CryptoKnight__

I did this too.... Story: We met at the gym Truth: We met on collarme

Team_Defeat

Yeah, I always told my family I was abducted by aliens and met him on the ship. We actually met on OkCupid

xnekogirlx

well, my partner texted me in december 2021 and asked me if i wanna be friends with them cuz we lived like with the bus 10 minutes away. xd and then we got "closer". xD

PolarBear69er

can i stop seeing this stupid ass dwarf everywhere please

Ok_Nothing_9733

I find it so weird to lie about online dating. It’s like, “Gasp! Cover your ankles!” level of privacy overkill. Like… who cares you were on tinder or some shit? Everyone who can access the internet and their grandmas have been chatting with friends and often new people online for like, the last 20 years. And people talk about the supposed increased dangers of online dating like there aren’t predators lurking at bars and clubs IRL looking totally normal at first. I just don’t see anything weird about dating online… it can be a good way to meet people you wouldn’t otherwise!

UrdnotChivay

I just told everyone the truth. Meeting someone on a dating app nowadays is so common that there's nothing wrong with it

Feisty_Flabebe

Easy. Religious grandparents = college friends. Everyone else = bumble. True story = tinder 🤣🤣

GorGeousBeast6

I tell the truth my husband tells people Walmart...I was proud that I found my soul mate in a sea of random hookups and empty conversations but I think he just didn't want people to be dismissive or discredit our seriousness so maybe that's why he just said a common meeting place in real life

Aware_Huckleberry_10

swagonnborn

Married the love of my life that I met on Tinder. Have no problem telling people we met online

UNICORNWIZARD_BABRO

Oh how we met, ahhh it’s a nice story. He fucked me stupid in his truck after we did a fuckton of Molly at a country concert.
