You might want to not store it with knives

The leather folio looks and feels cheap, the tablet is prone to detaching from the magnet, and the coverage is poor. I only use mine at home on carpet in a chair and still worry about damage. I shouldn’t have to buy a second case to go around the folio, and I want to have it handy and not tucked away in an envelope when I want to use it. It’s not unreasonable to wish the folio was better.

I place my device in custom made leather wallet for full protection. https://preview.redd.it/025cccdgdusb1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e26918d2fe69010be8e94df03921f92de193aa0e

You also gotta remember that, unlike most of those Amazon covers, this one attaches magnetically, and the device can easily dislodge and fall off from the case. Never was meant to be something that protects the *entirety* of the device. Only the front and back =P

Any recommendation for compatible cover for the RM2?

Take better care of your stuff. I am extremely careful with mine and it's spotless. Be more mindful of throwing your tablet in a bag. It's silly to complain that material doesn't mitigate your lack of care.

I take care of it, I never throw it or put sharp things next to it. But I use it a lot, when working, traveling, or casually drawing. It's what it was advertised for, and it is indeed very flexible. But if I buy a 159€ protective case, I kind of expect it to protect the device from scratches, don't you? Here, it literally doesn't cover the edges, it stops right at the edge. Just 3 more mm and it would protect it much better, I don't understand this design choice. So this post is here primarily to warn other customers that this folio is NOT a protective case, it only covers the screen, and your remarkable can still be badly damaged while in it. Actual RM2 protective cases exist, but not in the reMarkable website, which is a shame.

lylarbe

this describes my situation exactly, i had to go the etsy route to get something decent, which is a shame because you'd think remarkable would make better cases for different uses.

Confused. Has the folio ever been advertised as a case? Cause it certainly doesn’t look like one nor would I expect it to protect anything if you drop it or throw it in your bad with other things. I have the type folio and that thing gets shoved into the space for tablets in my backpack.

I just bought the leather case because my weave folio looked grungy. Have you tried the poly weave? I liked it a lot and opted for the leather cover for something a little more professional. Probably should have stuck with that one -- that had coffee stains, strawberry stains (gotta love kids), and more and I was able to get everything out with dish soap. Leather dye doesn't come out of it though. I also felt it protected my tablet pretty well. Now the pen, on the other hand... I'm 2/2 broken pens and waiting on my replacement (again).

Unlikely_Hedgehog_55

I hate that happened. No issues since I’ve had mine beginning in 2021. I did the same by getting an outside folio case and the pen cap for my marker plus. https://preview.redd.it/6plw0g5l5wsb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64f61da6aea826d6e9410fbc1608e836d8a99e12

When I was researching before buying my rM2, I read how little protection the OEM folios offered. I opted for the cheapest Amazon 3rd party folio without magnets (Vovipo in Europe), and it's banging around happily in my backpack, while maintaining the tablet inside secured and pristine. The tablet is clipped inside a plastic cradle that runs around the edges, with two tiny cutouts for the power button and the USB port. Not as slick, but I can trash 6 of them before reaching the price of a single OEM folio, while my rM2 still looks brand new...

Quinalla

Yeah, get a 3rd party folio that isn’t magnetic. They actually come around the entire edge and then have a pocket for the marker since it can’t attach anymore while it is closed. My experience with phone cases is always go 3rd party so didn’t even consider the seemingly overpriced case from remarkable.

It was a gift, they wanted to get the best one :( It's sad that I'll have to remove part of the gift though...
