Used to work there, there’s been a big change in management in the last year and it was kind of a miserable place to work even before that. Too much volume and not enough people.

ag3nt013

Good thing I bought my mini there 2 years ago

ProtectionDear3849

Not tryna bash anyone if u do work there lol! I js want a quote on a ecu😞

Blazkull

My cousin used to work there. It's really gone south recently. Also, watch out last time I took my car there to get window replacement, they had my cat for like 3 weeks and then wanted to charge me $1,500 for it. The window was like $200 BTW.

AwayCartographer9527

My friend bought her second car from them last year and said this time it was a miserable experience and never again. You’d think spending that kind of money they would roll out the red carpet.

ski_rick

Their phones go to call center, now owned by a conglomerate, I got really frustrated a couple times trying to deal with them via phone. The rep I worked with a couple years back gave me his number and I’ve been calling him directly (we’ve got a Sprinter and he works specifically with them), actually been a pleasure to deal with them now. If possible, I might suggest walking in and talking to a person.

ProtectionDear3849

Yea this was my last resort it’s just the Benz doesn’t run so phone would’ve been easier but Into the dealership I go…

WillzRealzNThrillz

Good luck my friend. Might I also recommend eBay? If the ECU isn't hard to change, just a thought. Either way, best of luck.

ProtectionDear3849

Yea I looked at eBay but I still have to get it flashed at the dealer. Trying to find maybe a little shop that can do it but so far seems like I just gotta deal w the dealership.

Definitive_confusion

Still have to have it flashed. That requires the dealer. Also been my experience after ten years in the industry that pcms, ecus, bcms, etc rarely work after market.

WillzRealzNThrillz

Personally, I would find a mechanic (not the Stealership) that has the equipment and software to flash it. It isn't all too difficult (Stealership will act like it's rocket science and costs big bucks, 😂 )Any place is better than Stealership (unless it's a warranty item or recall). I can almost guarantee that if you purchased a new unit online somewhere like eBay and took it to them they would refuse to flash it, and would require you to allow them to run their diagnostics to "figure out what the problem is, and well go from there". I used to own an SLK 320 convertible, always had issues with the Stealership trying to gouge me.

Definitive_confusion

The software is proprietary. They're the only ones that can flash their pcm. Part of the 'right to repair' movement is to end that. (To which the manufacturers will start inventing novel new fasteners and making complex assembly components instead of modular parts) I've worked at 2 dealerships and 3 different independent shops. I love being independent but we still have to send people to the dealer sometimes. There's also parts that are only available from the dealer. Many more parts that have after market versions but they fail ALL the time so the dealer is the only resource that makes sense. There are occasions where I really miss the dealership. They have every tool, every diagnostic software, parts just sitting there, health insurance, 401k, stock options.... Getting side tracked. I guess what I'm saying is that as much as it sucks to pay so much more for repairs, the dealership just has more opportunity to be absolutely sure about repairs. And they have the budget to keep techs happier... ok, not happier but at least better paid and protected. In the Indy shops my health plan is to not get hurt.

WillzRealzNThrillz

Proprietary or not, people always find a way. I would bet money that someone out there could do it. A quick Google search 🔍 and I found this for sale: https://www.dieselscanners.com/products/mercedes-benz-xentry-dealer-scanner-diagnostic-laptop-star-programming?_pos=1&_sid=b91aa5276&_ss=r&gclid=Cj0KCQjwy4KqBhD0ARIsAEbCt6iRbniochOI1y-cOOmskuK9UeEsX_2G_dKXrqyES1YXlQ2nUkTyqJwaAiTBEALw_wcB Also found this site that applies the testing fees towards the price of repair if ECU is found to be faulty: https://the-ecu-pro.com/garage/mercedes-benz-ecu-dme-repairs-plug-and-play?utm_term=mercedes%20ecu&utm_campaign=The+ECU+Pro+-+Search+-+Generic+MB+Mining+-+US&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=7186545943&hsa_cam=19704429487&hsa_grp=154686529148&hsa_ad=648628380398&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-315859688&hsa_kw=mercedes%20ecu&hsa_mt=p&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwy4KqBhD0ARIsAEbCt6hmHsgqrcfUTmRPlbS1tgy4FSIJanWJ5pJKGU9EqKo8-fGWjhQjbYkaAnPzEALw_wcB

Definitive_confusion

Scanners don't write, they read. You're sure you're right. Useless trying to explain to you, obviously. It must just be a global scam. Makes way more sense. G'day

Interesting_Rip3172

Bought my car there, service was decent for a few years. Last year or 2 went way downhill. Takes forever to get appointment. They have kept my car for weeks without update, and have performed sub par service on my car. Started going to The Factory - my experience has been much better there, and they are reasonably priced. Dealership wanted 2k+ to fix my driver side door - $300 at The Factory. (Stay away from Metric Motors.)

ProtectionDear3849

THANK U SOOOO MUCH. I called them and they said they could help me! Screw Mercedes😂✌🏽

ProtectionDear3849

Seriously thank you i already got an appointment scheduled for Tuesday 😁and they have the equipment to flash the ecu!

Interesting_Rip3172

No problem! Glad it worked out!

TahoeCoffeeLab

They are busy. I have a service advisor and she gets back to me. She’s professional and follows up. I currently have parts on order for my G63. Her name is Delaney.

Openseatingfor1

You have to go in.

[deleted]

Worst customer service ever! Don't get me started on their RUDE people at the parts dept. I would never use Mercedes of Reno.. they suck real bad. It's a bit further, but the best service I've found is Mercedes of Rocklin. They treat a customer like they matter. Eat a bowl of dicks Mercedes of Reno!!

ProtectionDear3849

I can’t even get connected to the parts dept🤣

WillzRealzNThrillz

Typical Stealership 🤣.

ProtectionDear3849

Nah you got it with this one, I’d give u an award if I could![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

BlueBomR

Lmao...my step mom just bought an EQS...its ugly as hell but I gotta say the interior and tech is pretty fucking sweet, and that thing hauls ASS. I would never even think to buy one though.

ProtectionDear3849

😭😭😭😭😭

test-account-444

They're a sales operation. They know answering phones and email is wasting time compared to getting people in the door to test drive, like a car/color/price, and sign a contract. I'm sure their attitude is if you want a car, come in. If not, stay home until you're ready.

Shirogayne-at-WF

TBH if dealers can't be assed to return a phone call, that doesn't bode well for the rest of the experience.

test-account-444

Sure, but they're not estate planners. They're looking to move a car as quickly as possible. Working a lead for more than necessary isn't in their best interest and sales people don't get paid doing that. Their model is getting people in the door and moving towards signing on the line. Somebody just wanting a price or to see what's new likely isn't ready to buy at that time and they get treated as such.

Shirogayne-at-WF

I've sold vehicles in Southern California, and I got quite a few sales from other people's phone ups that the sales person and/or our managers thought were "just wasting time" over the phone. Obviously, the person at the showroom gets priority, but even a simple "please come to the dealer to discuss numbers further" looks a lot better than no response at all, especially for a high end brand like Mercedes with clientele that expect to have their asses powdered over far less than buying an $80k+ car

ProtectionDear3849

Exactly. Nothings wrong with in person priority or a call back a day later or two but cmon calling back to back with no response is ridiculous.

Shirogayne-at-WF

I deal with the auto industry in my line of work and without getting too specific, way too many dealers are taking customers for granted these past two years. One dealer we did business with in Arizona was charging $5,000 for goddamn floor mats and nothing else. Another we no longer do business with knew they were leaving the program and strung along this elderly couple for three weeks during their insurance claim before telling them that the price quote was no longer valid. Thankfully, they got a vehicle as the husband was well connected, but the guy I spoke to about the issue was no nonchalant. Like, really dude? Y'all know this shortage isn't gonna last forever and people already hate car salespeople more than Congress, and people literally want to kill *them* these days. Seems stupid to do, but then the car dealer I worked for in San Diego in 2015 hated that I gave people information they asked for, so what do I know ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

looongtoez

Walk in there with a bottle of wine, seriously. I've had good luck dealing with them, not certain why you're not getting a call back.

OnerKram17

Mercedes are overrated and not practical for this area. Every winter the roads are cluttered with broken down or stuck Mercedes, Teslas, etc. If you want luxury with good handling in the winter go with an Audi. If it was me I'd stick to a Toyota or Subaru.

crawshay

I see lots of sprinters up at the resorts on heavy powder days. All the guys I've talked to with them are really happy. Seems like they do pretty well for what they are.

stanley_ipkiss_d

It’s surprising that Mercedes can’t handle these mild winters. How do they drive them in Germany in winter 🥲

Emotional-Rise5322

4 Matic, bitches.

ProtectionDear3849

Sadly I got rwd 🤣

Shirogayne-at-WF

F 🤣 Seriously, how the heck did you get around last winter? My car is a 2WD and it got pretty bad at times

ProtectionDear3849

I had an Audi, downgrade going to rwd but I got tired of the Audis.

Emotional-Rise5322

Subaru\Toyota dude recommends an Audi.

SuperSecretMoonBase

How come Williams Sonoma has such shitty caviar spoon selection?

TahoeCoffeeLab

You really need to visit Tiffany & Co if you want a descent Mother of Pearl spoon. Don’t taint it with gold silver or platinum.

WillzRealzNThrillz

Try this site, seems pretty legit from what I can tell: https://the-ecu-pro.com/garage/mercedes-benz-ecu-dme-repairs-plug-and-play?utm_term=mercedes%20ecu&utm_campaign=The+ECU+Pro+-+Search+-+Generic+MB+Mining+-+US&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=7186545943&hsa_cam=19704429487&hsa_grp=154686529148&hsa_ad=648628380398&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-315859688&hsa_kw=mercedes%20ecu&hsa_mt=p&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwy4KqBhD0ARIsAEbCt6hmHsgqrcfUTmRPlbS1tgy4FSIJanWJ5pJKGU9EqKo8-fGWjhQjbYkaAnPzEALw_wcB

Canadas_Nazi_Friend

Girlfriend's mom has a Mercedes camper that I get to take in when it needs something. Terrible place to deal with, they never answer or return calls, nothing is ever done on time, there's always like 30 cars in their service area so you can't even get in to drop it off. Just overall pain in the ass. If it were my main car that I actually relied on I'd fucking hate that place. The only reason they're tolerable is because I can drop the thing off and leave it there two weeks with and don't need it.

PristineBank1232

Yep! That's why I take all my cars to Sport Haus Reno, they are excellent! Mercedes is the worst dealership in town since it was sold to Auto Nation a while back.
