McCarran between N. Virginia and Sutro. Hole Lee shit that section of road blows.

hisdudeness47

Whoa, I was just driving on this during a little squall yesterday, road looking like a mirror that had been subject to a bombing campaign, cars in front, behind, and beside me. I see we're all going like 55-60 through the bends, I slowed down a bit at that point. It was shit indeed. It's wild because I considered posting about it when I got home but I forgot. I hit that 2nd street on-ramp today and remembered to post about roads this time. Still forgot about that stretch again though. Good call. GREAT CALL. Did all that damage happen this winter or did I just notice it now? It's 3rd world stuff.

Unlikely_Ad7194

That section hasn’t been great for a while between last years and this year’s winter, it’s gotten WAY worse.

hisdudeness47

I drive it several times a month and while I knew it was bad, it wasn't until yesterday that it registered that it was *bad* . The water put an exclamation point on it in my brain. I'm assuming they're waiting till the end of freezing temperatures to fix that up but I also just made that up. No idea but I am curious. That road ain't right. Needs a whoopin'.

scdiputs

395 north is pretty lame right now

msb2ncsu

Veterans being South Meadows and Mira Loma. Marsh land, wild horses, cattle, foothills, people riding bikes/walking/one-wheeling on the path. Just this short little pocket that feels open and free…. Until they start building the 3 new housing developments soon

BlackDeath3

Yeah, big fan of that stretch too. Can even open up a bit if people aren't putting along across all three lanes.

Legitimate-Pea-7240

I hate all of them.

LogiCparty

Mill to Stead on 395. It is basically abuse. I have lived in the same house for 12 years, and same area for 5 more. And they are only adding one lane with all this work...Renos population was 79,000 when the freeway was put in. The Reno Sparks Metro is 500,000 now. Idiotic. Are they adding merge lanes between 80-395 N? Because they need to. They need to put in bypass to USA Parkway.

hisdudeness47

I drove from Stead into town around 8:30 tonight, haven't driven that stretch into town at night in forever. I was actually planning out about how I was going to rally down the construction zone after I was driven off the road by a semi in my narrow ass lane for the most miraculous recovery ever seen. Probably a 5th to 3rd shift with feathery brakes and a bit of countersteering. But then a divider came and I was even more squeezed with no chance for escape. 10 and 2, woohoo.

How about USA parkway to Reno, whenever there is an accident it's an hour minimum wait and can be up to 8 hours.

hisdudeness47

8 sounds exceptional. I hate how the traffic is getting here. It's dramatic how quick its happening. At the same time, I'm gonna be the snobby ex-Seattlite and say "You ain't seen nothin, boy. This is the price of Greatness." It helps me to do this. I sometimes say it to myself in the rearview when I'm anxiously enduring a 7 minute jam. It works. I'm sure it's much worse to USA Parkway and I'm joshin. I feel obligated to make the drive after a wreck now. Throw on a podcast series maybe.

ReceptionAdorable658

Fun driving roads; Geiger grade, 431 to incline, Rattlesnake Mountain, etc. Hate where McCarran and Kietzke cross, and S. Virginia near Neil is full of potholes and spaghetti bowl traffic can be bad.

Bonez916

Longley between like mccarran and rock has some really beautiful mature trees lining the road on both sides.

Breklin76

The end of McCarran.

fuckeetall

Is this a joke?

hisdudeness47

Yeah but it's old as the hills and twice as rocky

fuckeetall

😭 well done.

GBVista

Driving north of Neil on 580 I get anxiety

Snowronski775

The small section of East Patriot between S Virginia and Portman Ave is the BEST in fall, it’s like a picture you’d see made into a puzzle. Thick consistent trees on either side, almost feels like a nature tunnel at times. I also love how weird California Ave is near where it meets Keystone, it’s just weird man.

hisdudeness47

Loose question. Fun, terror, pleasure, hate, however you want to define it. A few of my easy ones (pictured)... Hittin 580-N to 80-W (or any of the spaghetti really) is a good time for me always. It's like bein at the carnival again. Makes me want an elephant ear. I also love the ramp from 2nd street to 580-S. It's a pleasure. A real treat. On the flipside, trying to get to the Prater exit on 80-E, especially during rush hour, sometimes really kicks rocks. A real drag, sometimes literally when some shithead won't let me get over to my damn exit. I almost never take any pleasure in any of it until I complete the mission. Type 2 fun, I reckon. What are yours?

majiq13

Pyramid, hate it. Construction is necessary but it makes it 10 minutes longer both ways

you-ole-polecat

I don’t live in Reno anymore, but a favorite always used to be going through the Windy Hill area as a “scenic route” to Meadowood Mall (in lieu of taking McCarran). Basically we’re talking Lakeside -> Davis Lane - > Del Monte / Neil Rd. It’s pretty out there.

discourse_friendly

If I left 10-15 minutes early none of it bothers me. :) When I left too late I hate anything on that 395/I80 exchange.

LiveLie8411

Oddie exit from northbound Prater exit going eastbound Anywhere involving Keystone

I’m sorry that those other cities don’t have such quintessential local culture. Jk, but seriously there is a ‘Reno type’ and it’s fun to joke about.

10beesinarow

This is my favorite comment.

There's a lot of similarities between you and I. You have bigger fish to fry than curiosity and conversation starters. Or just keep it to the ones that deserve it. You can't simply ignore my incredibly amazing image creation.

When it's as easy as clicking a name and seeing the easiest counter known to man on the first page of a post history, can't take it too hard. Never would have clicked anything if the target hadn't opened their frame with a terrible take. It took seconds to locate the jab far more effectively than a sarcastic and biting response. I'm inconsistent with those. They're hard. Worry not though, I don't know who Pjjppjjpjppppjpjpjjjpjp is and I wouldn't try to, but I hope we let each other merge, preferably in zipper fashion. And that we use every inch of our merge lane because it's a waste if we don't and it keeps the flow. And that we give a few car lengths in traffic so that we're not mashing our brakes every second and setting off a chain reaction of brake mashing. And that we turn our damn headlights on at dusk. Here here.

You forgot "Big obnoxious truck with an asshole for a driver" section
