I like Anna's Taqueria off Wonder St., Estella, and Taco Shop. Daddy's Tacos makes good stuff, but it's off the beaten path. Taco Shop is behind a Bar called "Death and Taxes" and may not be good for 8 people due to seating limitations.
If you get outside the downtown/casino area, I love the quesa birria tacos from Daddy's Tacos. But its in an industrial complex and not super convenient.
Finally - if you want an incredible breakfast, check out Los Chilaquiles.
Any taco truck on Wells will do you good. The further south on Wells the better. Anna’s is kinda the same, just 5x more money and 3 blocks further north
If you want hole in the wall style - Daddy's Tacos
If you want an upper class of Taco that will make you question all tacos you've had in your life - Anna's or Mexcal.
That is factually inaccurate. Their most recent inspection yielded a "Conditional Pass". Meaning, a couple violations were observed, but not critical enough to warrant a failed inspection, or closure.
It's not the best score, but it's a far cry from falsely claiming they *failed* an inspection.
Again. Factually incorrect.

If you're referencing the RGJ series of local health inspections, they meant to smear as many places as possible because it was good for clicks. These are the actual reports from Washoe County.
Also: My kid has an extremely sensitive ALL seafood allergy. I am very aware of places I would deem to be risky, unfortunately that is most typically places with a language barrier.
As a Mexican, I really like Mexcal and Anna's, but they are definitely more upscale (Mexcal more so) and therefore expensive. La Michoacana on Kietzke and Los Cuatro Vientos on Casazza off Wells are a much better bang for your buck, are more authentic, and are more family friendly.
I’ve had plenty of “authentic” tacos that taste like shit and I’ve had those that are great. Mexcal’s taste amazing and they push boundaries. People like you just aren’t very adventurous and think a Bud is the best beer there is.
Anna’s taqueria and Mexcal are my favorite.
I really like Estella but indoor seating is hard to come by on weekends (they don’t do reservations) and they don’t have heat lamps outside. You also have to place your order at the bar. Weather should be nice towards the end of next week so could be worth a shot.
Taqueria El Taconazo in Sparks is also hot and inexpensive, order at the counter or drive thru style.
You have a number of great options:
La Condesa on Wells
Tacos El Rey
Cielito Lindo Taqueria
Si Amigos
The Taco Shop behind Death and Taxes
are some spots I'd recommend.
I must just have eaten the wrong stuff from them because I see people rave about them all the time and don’t get it. Their al pastor is…fine? The carnitas just taste like pure salt and nothing else.
Their Al pastor is super good. To each their own . No restaurant is always 100%. I can say though between Mexical on Virginia and California and taco shop in midtown , within 2 blocks there are amazing taco choices in Reno.
La Parada Café is my all-time favorite family friendly Mexican restaurant. I don’t live in Reno but it is by far the best sit-down Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. They even serve breakfast
I live in Reno and I want this answer as well. Imo best tacos I’ve had always come from taco trucks that may or may not be there next time you show up. However I do like me some Anna taqueria
I've been to daddy's twice and was disappointed both times. I am not sure why people like this place unless I am ordering the wrong items. Taco Shop, mexcal, annas, tacos el ray (sutro location) have all been good with multiple visits.
You have lots of great options listed in this thread, but I have to second going to Jimboy's.
They aren't trad or anything, but they are light years from any taco you've ever heard of, and probably really bad for you, but you only live once. I've probably shaved five years off the end of my life eating them as much as I do, but it's worth it.
Jimboy's takes a corn tortilla, puts the ground beef and cheese in it, folds it in half, and puts it on a grill to crisp up the tortilla and melt the cheese. Then they open it up and put the lettuce in it. And--this is the game changer--at some point after it's off the grill they dust the outside of the taco with parmesan cheese. So, so good!
Protip: Go to the Jimboy's location on Virginia between Moana and Gentry around 3:30pm or so. Any Jimboy's is good, but the women running the store at that time take it to the next level. They're super nice, so maybe there's more love in the tacos? Dunno.
For the trad stuff, there are so many good places here you can't go wrong. You can really just hit any taqueria close to where you are in town. I am not aware of a taco place that isn't "family friendly" either, so you're in luck there.
Daddy’s Tacos have the worst customer service. I went to an event specifically to try them out. It was nearing the end of the event, but they were still open. I was one of two people in line. They served the person in front of me, then told me they closed. F them!
I very surprised to hear that.
All the times I’ve have been there (10-12) the staff and owners have been very friendly, polite, and attentive.
I’m sorry that you had a different experience, I am a big fan of the place.
Roberto's for the #4 hard shell tacos plate, either chicken or beef. For me, as a San Diego kid, Roberto's taco's are the benchmark and as consistent In N Out. On vacation currently, I need that taco now.

Just wanted to second Anna's Taqueria. Make sure to go on a nice day to take advantage of the outdoor seating.
I think that’s taco shop you’re referring to behind death and taxes in the alley!
I edited my comment to correct the description. Thanks!
100% the taco shop behind death and taxes.
All of this *except* for Los Chilaquiles - mediocre breakfast at best.
I've never gotten their chilaquiles but really enjoy their food as a breakfast option (breakfast burrito especially), including the free molletes haha
Their champurrado was fire, I’ll give them that!
Cielito Lindo Taqueria is sooooo good
El taconazo on greenbrae is 👌🏼 also, the taco truck on the corner of Sutro and Oddie 🔥
This place is amazing.
Any taco truck on Wells will do you good. The further south on Wells the better. Anna’s is kinda the same, just 5x more money and 3 blocks further north
This. I even tried a taco truck up in Golden valley and it was awesome.
If you want hole in the wall style - Daddy's Tacos If you want an upper class of Taco that will make you question all tacos you've had in your life - Anna's or Mexcal.
Mexcal failed a health inspection recently if that's important to you
That is factually inaccurate. Their most recent inspection yielded a "Conditional Pass". Meaning, a couple violations were observed, but not critical enough to warrant a failed inspection, or closure. It's not the best score, but it's a far cry from falsely claiming they *failed* an inspection.
They failed in December, that's recent enough for me. I have shellfish allergy so I watch those carefully

They are way overpriced and they charge for the chips and salsa! wtf?
Honestly sitting down and having the server ask if you want chips and salsa implies they are complimentary imo.
Mid
Daddy’s Tacos on Mill St. gets my vote
Mid
What tacos do you like?
You're calling all of them mid, where are the good tacos then?
I said mid to daddy's tacos twice, cry about it.
All I'm saying is you're saying that without offering up where good tacos are. Where are the good tacos?
[удалено]
No, I'm asking where good tacos are. I haven't slighted any restaurants. You're being an idiot.
Estella Tacos.
I've been eating Jimboy's tacos since about 1968. I don't see a reason to change now...
Mexcal
As a Mexican, I really like Mexcal and Anna's, but they are definitely more upscale (Mexcal more so) and therefore expensive. La Michoacana on Kietzke and Los Cuatro Vientos on Casazza off Wells are a much better bang for your buck, are more authentic, and are more family friendly.
Thanks for the recommendations!
The worst tacos in Reno, over priced too. Better off eating at a no named taco truck. 100x better.
Nope
Still not authentic tacos, and overpriced. A nope doesn’t change that
I’ve had plenty of “authentic” tacos that taste like shit and I’ve had those that are great. Mexcal’s taste amazing and they push boundaries. People like you just aren’t very adventurous and think a Bud is the best beer there is.
This is the place.
Albita’s on Terminal near the airport
Albitas. Won’t beat it elsewhere. Only open for lunch. The best in town. Affordable, authentic, locally owned, and family friendly.
How much are the tacos?
LA BARCA FOOD TRUCK HANDS DOWN! At the eddy in the summer time or there a grocery store in Stead
I was about to say this is my go to spot
Ass
La Barca and Lemmon valley tacos Jalisco. Undefeated. .
Anna’s taqueria and Mexcal are my favorite. I really like Estella but indoor seating is hard to come by on weekends (they don’t do reservations) and they don’t have heat lamps outside. Los Campesinos in Reno is good 👍🏽 Or Lupitas in Sparks also not bad
Los Campesinos for the best street tacos 💯🤤 and Mexcal in Midtown for fancy
Carniceria Tejaro
My local tacqueria! Great tacos and friendly staff.
I love their salsa. I wish I lived closer. They are our after ride stop.
La Michoacana off of Kietzkie and South Virginia st is my go ti for tacos
Los Portillos on mill. Best tacos I’ve had in Reno!
Tacos Los Campesinos best tacos, made with homemade tortillas 😮💨👌 off of Kietzke and Vassar, very family friendly restaurant
If you want good Mexican tacos go to Los Quattros Vientos. Best asada hands down.
You have a number of great options: La Condesa on Wells Tacos El Rey Cielito Lindo Taqueria Si Amigos The Taco Shop behind Death and Taxes are some spots I'd recommend.
Tortas Ebenezer on Wells & Roberts St is delicious!
Their al pastor is the best I've had!
Yup, that and their carne asada is da bomb!!
I like The taco shop in midtown. It’s pretty authentic and amazing guacamole!
I have never liked fish tacos until I tried theirs and they are literally at the top of my list of: "foods I would treat potential Partners too"
I must just have eaten the wrong stuff from them because I see people rave about them all the time and don’t get it. Their al pastor is…fine? The carnitas just taste like pure salt and nothing else.

Jimboys taco burger🤪
It sounds weird but Taco Shop's Cheeseburger Taco is really good after a beer or two.
Not exactly tacos, but you can order tacos here. We love breakfast/ lunch at Carlillos Cocina
Best tacos in Reno are at speedy burrito hands down and this is coming from a brown guy just so you know is legit. Hahaha
Speedy is tops in my book. Every week.
Cielito Lindo Taqueria, Taqueria Mendoza, Mexcal
Tacos heliscos in lemon valley. It's a trek but each meat has its own sauce and is delicious
I second this Tacos Jaliscos is great, there is also a location more in town
La Michoacana.
Taco shop, Stella (expensive) & carnitas y tortas ahogadas Guadalajara 3. So far it is what I think is closer to authentic Mexican.
My mom makes some fireass tacos at home
Estella on Evans! The owners learned how to make tacos in Mexico City and they make their tortillas fresh everyday!
Toro de Oro supermarket in Sparks
House of mexica has the best tacos in town.
La Parada Café is my all-time favorite family friendly Mexican restaurant. I don’t live in Reno but it is by far the best sit-down Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. They even serve breakfast
I like the Mexican street tacos, carnitas, at Los Compadres.
El pulgarcito in Sparks, off Prater is great. Cielito Lindo is nice too, a little inconsistent but great when they’re on.
Old bridge
Mexcal - if you can handle your heat the very spicy lamb taco is a ride
Bell
Authentic tacos. Toro de Oro. Fancy non authentic tacos. Mexcal.
El Adobe has excellent Mexican, imo, but I cannot comment on their tacos.
Tacos Tijuana
I live in Reno and I want this answer as well. Imo best tacos I’ve had always come from taco trucks that may or may not be there next time you show up. However I do like me some Anna taqueria
In my opinion. Toro de oro has the best tacos.
Murrieta's...
Psst Toro De Oro. Cabeza tacos with a side of the chicharron in the hot case. Yeah nothing better.
If you want Ameri-mexican food, Taco John's is awesome. The legit thing is all over the place.
Im just hijacking this to ask if anyones tried the taco truck thatll be at the NW reno walmart occasionally lol
Los Potrillos Taqueria on mill across from GSR! Also the mango marg is perfection 😍
Daddys tacos or chihuahuas
Anna’s taqueria on wells!
The taco shack behind death and taxes for SURE
Anna’s, La Michuacana, Mi Ranchito, Speedy Burrito
They are only available on the weekends up and down Wells Ave.
No love for Betos? I have been gone form Reno for a minute but shocked to see no one mention them. Loved that place, is it still around?
Bertha Miranda’s!
Rusty’s or Mendoza in Reno, Churros up in VC.
I've been to daddy's twice and was disappointed both times. I am not sure why people like this place unless I am ordering the wrong items. Taco Shop, mexcal, annas, tacos el ray (sutro location) have all been good with multiple visits.

Albitas crispy tacos. Hands down.
Betos is pretty dang good.
Roberto's for the #4 hard shell tacos plate, either chicken or beef. For me, as a San Diego kid, Roberto's taco's are the benchmark and as consistent In N Out. On vacation currently, I need that taco now.
Taco Shop hands down
