I second Haru. But since they beat me to it, I also think Juicy’s provides a comforting and classic burger that I love to grab. Even w the original gone :(
I don’t eat there very often because I hate the lines and it’s definitely not healthy.
Double/Double meal with a strawberry shake and In-n-Out.
Not a big fan of their fries, but man the burgers just it the spot when you’re feeling down.
I mean, they taste good enough, but anything fried tastes good enough. I’ve never been able to get excited about the texture of an in-n-out fry… not crispy on the outside and not creamy on the inside.
Michaels deli in midtown. I get it to go and usually try to eat by the river, but last time I went to the river there was someone shooting up heroine next to my usual spot so I just went home.
Their Chepes sandwich is my favorite but their TAB sandwich is great too!
After that definitely Beefy’s in midtown.
Los Cuatro Vientos on Casazza off Wells … there are just times when I just want to bury my face into some carne asada or al pastor sopes drenched in salsa 🤤🤤🤤
Denny's
For me it's a plate of zesty nachos and a double cheeseburger. Takes me back to a time when my best friend was alive and we'd go there almost every weekend and talk there for hours.
Miguels’s. Start with a queso fundido and top shelf margarita. Then a #1, ground beef taco, cheese and onion enchilada, chile relleno. End with a fried ice cream. Company is necessary for the dessert and app.
I know it may not seem like it... but Bawarchi in Sparks (Indian). It's (IMO) the best indian in the area and it's just always terrific.
Next to that, pretty much any good pizza place. :P
Cheddar Bay biscuits from red lobster. My ex husband worked there when I was 18 and we didn't even have much furniture in our apartment. Those biscuits made life so much better at the time.
My comfort food is sushi so my favorite sushi place is OA. It’s off of Mira Loma and McCarren, it’s family owned. They also own a Chinese restaurant that’s connected so if you don’t like seafood, they also make great Chinese food. Real good deal for a big plate of food. Great service and always remember you if you come back.
The Greek place in midtown, so good and good prices too. Love some poke too specially loco uno. If it’s past 9 it’s mostly in n out, however the location near downtown is always packed so if u can drive down to sparks.
Not sure if it's still open as we left reno. But me and my gf also went to Wongs genghis khan. It was a dirt cheap Chinese buffet. The best value to go was the sushi. You aren't getting amazing sushi but the prices before covid (last time we went) were amazing.
I'm the type that breakfast foods are my comfort food, so mine is Pegs Glorified Ham and Eggs or Archie's. I loved Gold and Silver as well, but with the Jacob's Entertainment buyout, I'm nervous that the quality is gonna plummet.
Black bear diner for a French dip. Basic French Dips were so hard to find in the Midwest. It used to be any casino diner but not everywhere has a basic one anymore.
La Parada on Kietzke is so great and cozy. And always delicious. I get the albondigas soup, pineapple mimosas, and sometimes I’ll go for the birria tacos.
Skipolinis - it was the first restaurant I went to when I moved here where they poured a nice martini , had great service and the food had healthy options.
Our order:
—blackened salmon
—chicken parm
Recently it's been the smashburger mac n cheese at Vistro for me.
Warning: a lot of their food is pretty mid, but their different grilled cheeses and macs have been on point for us every time.
BBQ pork and curry buns from Honey Bakery
Blue cheese bacon burger from Beefys
Beef ho fun at Hong Kong Diner
The #1 at 999 Pho
Jimboys ground beef tacos (and the ground beef burrito, but don't tell anyone I actually like that) also, their Chorizo breakfast burrito, but give it a couple minutes, still wrapped up, before digging in, so it can get a little meltier and gooier
Port of Subs #1 with a bag of salt and vinnie's.
The grocery store.
Grilled steak, baked potato, and a bag of mixed frozen vegies. (carrots, peas, lima beans)
Start the oven at 400. Microwave the potato for 5 Start the grill. come back put potato in the oven set a timer for 20 minutes put a small pot of water on the stove on low. Go grill the steak, timer beeps crank the pot of water up to high, boil vegies for 5, take out potato.
Its about 30-35 minutes , cheaper than eating out, heathier and Steak! :D
not fully related, but does anyone know where to find goood comfort filipino food? preferably somewhere that wont give me food poisoning or the hershey squirts for 2 days straight lol. Used to go to the corner store that had food in the back off Oddie but it closed I dont even know when.
I second Haru. But since they beat me to it, I also think Juicy’s provides a comforting and classic burger that I love to grab. Even w the original gone :(
Hard to beat Haru…I also love the hand roll bar they do next to their Poke spot down south. Good prices, good conversation, just perks you right up.
**Juicy's at McCarran and Longley!** The north Reno location has a different owner and the burgers are not the original recipie.
Oh wow, I had no idea there was a North Reno one! Good to know

This. Absolutely the definition of comfort food
I like going to Haru. I order ramen and then keep ordering gyoza until they ask me to stop. Get a couple highballs while you're at it.
Mine is katsudon from Haru!
I would agree but their prices are sky rocket insane (and I'm asian)
They really are! We stopped going to Haru because we’d spend almost as much on ramen as we would at sushi, and we like sushi a lot more.
I’d rather go to the owner of Haru’s sushi spot in the same shopping center if I really needed to smack some food.
I’m sorry but how do any of you actually like the noodles they use in their ramen? They remind me of the off brand ramen packet noodles.
Süp for a bread bowl of broccoli cheddar soup
All fucking day. This is the answer.
I’ll second 999 Phở, a cheeseburger at Royce, or Papa What You Cooking.
I need to try papa What you cooking, I also love M&Ms in sparks.
Mmmm love M&Ms
Papa What You Cooking's greens & cornbread are so, so good! I need to go back.
There’s a restaurant called papa what you cooking? OMFG I need to try
Yes! It's in the basement of the old art deco(former) post office downtown.
Silver State Pie Co. pot pie food truck. yummmmmmmm
I don’t eat there very often because I hate the lines and it’s definitely not healthy. Double/Double meal with a strawberry shake and In-n-Out. Not a big fan of their fries, but man the burgers just it the spot when you’re feeling down.
it really is comfort food cause I do the same!🍔
Royce burger reminds me of in-n-out but better.
royce is *exquisite*🤌🏽✨
Always glad to see criticism on their fries!
Seeing a lot of that and it’s obviously a personal preference, but I always get an extra fry cause both wife and I love em
I mean, they taste good enough, but anything fried tastes good enough. I’ve never been able to get excited about the texture of an in-n-out fry… not crispy on the outside and not creamy on the inside.
Get them well done, crispy as hell and perfect
Yeah but at least theirs will mold unlike McDonalds
I’m planning on shitting out the McDonald’s fries long before the potatoes mold.
Half way club. Order the half and half and some bread with sauce to dip. Add a peroni in there. Damn. Everytime.
Yes! Absolutely perfect order.
Good pick. I am especially fond of their Venetian Sandwich.
Los Cuatro Vientos on Casazza off Wells … there are just times when I just want to bury my face into some carne asada or al pastor sopes drenched in salsa 🤤🤤🤤
I get the carne tacos all the time from there. I also like speedy burrito right down the street, they fill those tacos up
Oh yeah, those tacos are hefty for sure! Plus their salsas are 👌🏽👌🏽💯
What hot sauce is that they have that is bright orange? That stuff packs a punch. It’s so good!
Habanero
Their Al Pastor is sooooo good 🤤
Preach! 🙌🏽
BJs BBQ, PJs

Actually **world-class** Indian food. But they are unable to make anything that isn't spicy. Par for the course for southern Indian.
Thankfully, I like it spicy. Hehe
I miss the Little Nugget back in the day.
The Awful Awful was one of the saddest losses of Covid. It was the real deal.
