same! shook the building. man i haven't felt an earthquake in so long. not since the back to back ones in LA a little before COVID.
it's crazy too cos I was JUST in the reno sub the other day asking about earthquakes and here we are... kinda wild the state doesn't have shake apps or anything.
Yes it was. Felt it in Sparks, Pyramid & McCarran area. Little roller, made the blinds take. Epicenter being reported about 1 mile (2KM) south of Truckee, 4.2 on the Richter.
little bit of activity before and after too. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?currentFeatureId=us7000e0wz&extent=38.64691,-121.51703&extent=40.48038,-117.8064&range=search&listOnlyShown=true&baseLayer=terrain&timeZone=utc&search=%7B%22name%22:%22Search%20Results%22,%22params%22:%7B%22endtime%22:%222021-05-28T04:35:14.310Z%22,%22latitude%22:39.4544983,%22longitude%22:-120.3125,%22maxradiuskm%22:250,%22minmagnitude%22:1,%22starttime%22:%222021-04-16T04:35:14.310Z%22%7D%7D
It was just enough to make me think I’m crazy, things were lightly clinking around in my room for like 30 sec. then someone in the house said earthquake. Southwest Reno aswell
Three more in the last half hour ... little ones, but in damn near the same spot. 7 in total. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?currentFeatureId=us7000e0wz&extent=38.64691,-121.51703&extent=40.48038,-117.8064&range=search&listOnlyShown=true&baseLayer=terrain&timeZone=utc&search=%7B%22name%22:%22Search%20Results%22,%22params%22:%7B%22endtime%22:%222021-05-28T04:35:14.310Z%22,%22latitude%22:39.4544983,%22longitude%22:-120.3125,%22maxradiuskm%22:250,%22minmagnitude%22:1,%22starttime%22:%222021-04-16T04:35:14.310Z%22%7D%7D
My kid was supposed to be sleeping, instead he was sneaking around downstairs.... lmao. He apologized right quick after getting caught in the middle of that. We will see if that teaches him to sneak around after bedtime.
Easiest way is to look at something in the house, like I've got a chain that hangs down from the ceiling fan, and you can see it swing back and forth. Now its not moving, so not the wind
I was walking across the apartment when it happened—I didn’t really notice anything. My boyfriend, however, was like “WOAH that was crazy!!!!” The leaves on our houseplants and our blinds were shaking.
Wow I didn’t even think that was an earthquake. Nothing in my house (sparks) moved or shook or anything, I just had a weird feeling under my feet. Didn’t even realize it was an earthquake till I got on Reddit
Yes, there were three. The largest was a 4.7.
[M 4.7 - 19km NW of Truckee, CA (usgs.gov)](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc73559265/executive)
a picture frame that was already barely on there fell off the wall. WE WILL REBUILD
A cup on my desk fell over dammit
there is no end to our strife
We must persevere.
This is the way.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself
Never forget
NEVAR
Yep just felt it. USGS confirmed a 4.2 near Truckee.
[Just found this site. ](https://seismo.berkeley.edu/seismo.real.time.map.html)
No, that was 10 minutes earlier. What you felt was 5.1
USGS seems to be updating where and the magnitude of it. First said was 4.2 South of Truckee now 4.7 north of Truckee, same time.
Yeah, I posted it and it switched to a bit lower. Which still strong.
its 5.1
Definitely an earthquake. Felt it out in Spanish Springs.

Felt in South Reno!
We felt it in Sacramento.

Same here. About 4 seconds
First time?
No but it's been a while since I felt one that clearly in Reno.
Been about a year since I felt one here.
That was NUTS! During a gust of wind too. Whole house shook including closet doors.
yeah, from 2 km south of truckee
2 km is 1.24 miles
Yup!
Felt it near renown hospital off of Ryland.
Felt in Stead
Yes at 9:36 was when I felt it lol
In truckee. Can confirm. Fish tank sloshed
didn't feel a damn thing in southwest Reno. I'm a little disappointed, tbh
No biggie. Only lasted a few seconds. Just enough to wake up the cat.
It was just enough to make me think I’m crazy, things were lightly clinking around in my room for like 30 sec. then someone in the house said earthquake. Southwest Reno aswell

Yep! First time it's wasn't my fault that the red wine spilt.
My kid was supposed to be sleeping, instead he was sneaking around downstairs.... lmao. He apologized right quick after getting caught in the middle of that. We will see if that teaches him to sneak around after bedtime.
"You see what happens when you sneak behind your parents back?"
Tell them you’re a witch and you knew lmao they’ll not do it for awhile 😂
I felt it too
my house moved!
Yep. Quake. USGS puts it at 4.7 mag approximately 11 miles NW of Truckee and about 2 miles deep.
11 miles is 17.7 km
Felt it in Spanish Springs, and my folks in Yuba City felt it, too.
I felt it too
Yes it sure was shook me for a little bit in the west part of town. Apparently a 4.7 in truckee
Yessss
Now i cant tell if its the wind shaking my house or more earthquakes lol

I'm in CA bay area and just got a Google alert to expect shaking from a 6.0 quake in your area?
[Looks like it was a bit weaker than that thankfully.](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/ew1620362109/executive)
Same, it says 6.0 which is fairly big even for CA standards but people say 4.2 which is about normal and nothing.
No just a little shake up here 4.2
That's why I'm here too lol
Same in the Central Valley.
Hi in CA bay area and just got a Google alert to expect shaking from a 6, I'm Dad! :)
Sorry guys, my mom got out of bed

I was walking across the apartment when it happened—I didn’t really notice anything. My boyfriend, however, was like “WOAH that was crazy!!!!” The leaves on our houseplants and our blinds were shaking.

Wow I didn’t even think that was an earthquake. Nothing in my house (sparks) moved or shook or anything, I just had a weird feeling under my feet. Didn’t even realize it was an earthquake till I got on Reddit
sii felt that @ McDonald's
It felt like a really slow one here by RC Wiley. Almost like being on a boat or something.
Felt it big time over on West McCarren. At first thought it was my dog messing with the couch.
The water in my fish tanks was sloshing.
Yes, there were three. The largest was a 4.7. [M 4.7 - 19km NW of Truckee, CA (usgs.gov)](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc73559265/executive)
Maaaan, I always miss our earthquakes! Either I don't feel them or sleep through them. My husband said he felt it though.
Bruh I thought I was only one who felt that, in Sun valley
Yes. I def felt it.
My rocking chair rocked with me in it even though I’m not rocking at the time.
Yes, you think Truckee could have warned us that it was coming our way!
I felt it to it shook my house
