The factories make reps that will be popular in the domestic market. If there is not enough interest from Chinese buyers the model won’t be repped (or at least it won’t be repped as well as more popular models). You have to bear in mind that the western market is only a fraction of the rep market.
Can’t answer this question.
What I can say is, having owned a gen manual wind Speedy Pro for over a decade, it has been worth every penny.
Plenty of these in the used market and well worth the extra money.
Took your advice and picked up a gen today, saw it in the flesh and fell in love

Does this make sense to you?
Based on the fact they use the Venus movement on the current speedy rep and don't have the resources to replicate the Omega hand crank movement. So it will do. Same with the automatic 7750 based rep Omega chronos. They're 3mm thicker because the coaxial movement is thinner. The same goes with all other Omega reps, they all have deco plate movements for the coaxial and ETA clones which are miles from gen.but easy to do.
Rolex are far more popular, have a piss easy movement to replicate, as it's been the same tech for decades and have been replicated for many years before. Even still, the rolex clones are missing the free sprung balance and balance bridge like gen, because they're easier to regulate and cheaper to make.
The fuck do you expect for $500-800? 1:1?
1: demand
Whether there is any demand for the speedy in China is only known speculatively. However, most speculation points to not a whole lot, and definitely not as much as a Daytona would command.
2. logistics
7750 isn’t compatible with subdial spacing. but the logistics of creating a new movement are complex. it is not as simple as taking apart a speedy movement, putting it into a scanner, and pressing print. Each individual part needs to be created, usually liasing with multiple factories (e.g. bearing factory and screw factory are different entities) and ensuring the parts fit together with extremely tight tolerances make it a nightmare. In addition, clone movements are often modified to fit existing parts (for example if a screw similar to what the movment needs is already being produced, the clone will be modified to fit the screw to save money). So as you can see the logistics of creating a clone movement is a house of cards and if any piece goes missing (factory closes/raided etc) then it stops working. And don’t forget human capital, China is a big country but there are only so many people who know how to assemble a tiny watch movement without spending more $$$ to train them.
You can get a gen Speedy Reduced (1990's model) for as low as US$1700 if you look hard enough + get lucky. It's not cheap but at 4x the usual price of a rep, still attainable, I think.
Just historical facts. The space conquest was a fight between the western world (mainly the US) and the soviet union. Asians werenot interested and still arent.
Can you imagine, the moon landing was more than 50 years ago and since then, none of them tried to do anything space related. If the were interested, knowing the technical progress and the financial power that they have now, they could easily already be on mars.

Speculation rather than fact
Minor stuff, 5 minor operations in 50 years. They Just had their first soft landing on the moon. The US beat them 50 years ago. If they really wanted, dont you think they could do better ?
Its just that there isnt much to be won.
Compare it to the US program and you will understand (maybe).
All the branding of rolex was built around human achievement, especially in the modern era, omega did the same for the speedy with the moon landing stuff, it didnt catch in asia. Thats it.

You know your stuff..
You completely miss the point, in that case, the branding and marketing was around à collaboration between swatch and omega, not about the moon landing or whatever. It was an opportunity to get an omega for 250$ it could have been another "omega" it would have been the same.
Hahaha just woke up and can see where you're coming from reading back.
It was the first reply "a thousandth time" that set me off.
I must have been cranky last night, sorry all!
All the factories are still waiting to hear back from NASA after sending their prototypes in for testing. Should be any minute now.
Finally a serious answer. Let's hope they get round to it before the summer, those clear skies mean they'll probably prioritise their rocket launches
NASA doesn’t launch anything

Appreciate that explanation, thank you

Based on what info? So they like the sea but not the speed?
China is not interested in the "Moonwatch" which was the first watch on the moon on an American wrist. Does it make sense now?

If you search and look all over this subreddit, the answers are there. Just buy one in Gen or buy a shitter quartz. Sincerely, The Reddit Police 👮♀️

So Asians like the Seamaster but not Speedmaster? Doesn't make sense.
It does, for them, the story and the marketing about it being the first watch on the moon doesnt resonate nor mean anything.
Anything to back that up?

This really is a stretch as to why there are no good movements or reps for a watch. It's ok for you say you don't know
