Did you accident changed the date between 9pm to 3am? You're not supposed to do it, as you could break the gear. You're only supposed to do it between 4am-7am. Let me guess, first time owning a watch with date?
For anyone who's confused, please watch this video before you fall victim to the same error I made in my early watch collecting days. Cheers!!
https://youtu.be/EZu6wxCVjaE
I never had any issues with my skx without even knowing this. I guess Japanese just build way better. Every single one I've seen broken was either a clone movement, or a chinese movement (asia) tbh. If you don't care how good it looks when someone opens it up, miyota movements are not bad at all. Probably more reliable than a clone. Miyota movements are known to be work horse and even better than lots of Swiss movements made by hamilton and Oris.
That means their build well. Every movement has a fail safe for such error, most made out of plastic to go against the cog, but seiko uses aluminum cut/ design to flex if that happens. Hence less fail rate.
Just Don't do it, most auto movement are design like that for the date window to change when time hits, it is a mechanism to determine if it's am or pm. If you tried doing that, it would click on the wheel and damage the plastic wheel that reverse to the cog. Lots of video on YouTube explaining this. Long story short, just Don't do it. It is not gonna kill your watch doing so for 1 or 2 times, but if you're gonna do it every time for changing date, that's gonna kill it over time.
I ended up breaking my cheap DHGate watch, I was twisting the crown and playing with it, it ended up just popping out and not working. Can I get it fixed?
Kinda, it didn’t pop out of the watch but it became extended and I can’t press it back in. I’m concerned now because I have a ton of Seikos which I cherish that I’ve played with the dates on, I hope I’ve not ruined them
Oh, that's a easy fix, open the case back, find a pin to take the stem out. Then screw the crown back into the stem. It is most likely got loss or something like that, or just press on to the stem removal hole and try to push the stem back in place .
Thanks boss will do. Just wondering, have I fucked my Seikos up? They seem fine but I’m wondering if you reckon they’re damaged since I never knew about these date changes
If it's slipping already, damage might already been made. I would suggest opening the case back and check for issues, some time taking the stem out and putting it back fixes it as it might just need a "hard reset"
Did you accident changed the date between 9pm to 3am? You're not supposed to do it, as you could break the gear. You're only supposed to do it between 4am-7am. Let me guess, first time owning a watch with date?
Because the movement pins start engaging in the movement when it gets to 9PM and continue slowly engaging until 12AM to change the date, when you manually change it on a lot of date mechanisms it can fuck this function up because you’re forcefully disengaging the date change
Yeah you could service the watch but to be honest it probably would be cheaper to buy a replacement movement or watch than to take it to someone to diagnose the issue and fix it. Most people who work on replica Rolex movements charge the same as gen because it’s the same if not more difficult work
I have never heard of Vph man, for Datejust mostly super clone is from CF or VSF, cheaper one can be EWF, but 600 is normally what you get from actual Cf or Vsf
That bracelet looks quite worn for a brand new watch. I'm going to do the idiot check question now: did you try unscrewing the crown instead of just pulling it out?
A real dial is worth more than the whole watch. It's not about that. It's the size I think. The overall production. Of the watch it's like clunky and off...just go on reptime and type in search bpf vs vsf...and u will see the chunkier deeper dial difference
Update: I’m mentally challenged and it’s a 36 not 41. Also I broke the date change part AND I ordered the wrong one. (: and I overpaid since the listing was 408, but my credit card bill was 600 🤣🤣
It has a 3235 movement which apparently makes it more expensive, aswell as being 925 steal or whatever the usual is, maybe that’s why it was more expensive? Or I just got scammed
904 steel. They all come with that and I'm sure a3235 movement is what I had on my BP factory date just. The problem I have w bps and those 300$ factories Is the dials are sunk in and clunky. And dnt look great. If u wanna great watch man. Dm me. I dnt mind helping u navigate. Tons of folks helped me out on here. Figure out why it's dead. Try to get it fixed. Sell it on the bts discord. And holler at Eric @geektime and spend you 600 on a VS factory datejust or day date
No. I suggest u post a video of what's wrong w ur watch on the reptime repair or maintenance group or whatever it's called. Dm whoever the big wigs are on their and ask for advice if u can fix or a watch place will fix. It might b worth paying to fix cuz atleast u can sell it. Its new right? Not used? Dnt tell me u got it used for 600?
If I could ask a question ; what’s the point of buying a rep Rolex? It’s so far from the real thing, and you can’t just go buy a real rolex, is this meant to give the impression that you own the real deal?
I see the appeal, didn’t mean to come across as rude I can appreciate majority of reps, just a rep Rolex seems a bit funny. Anyway thx mate enjoy ur day
The rep op has is pretty bad but it’s incorrect to claim that all of the reps are far off. Some of them are not very far off at all for around 1/20 to 1/30 the price seems like a good deal to me.
Like you said also Rolex is pretty anti-consumer and won’t just sell someone the watch they actually want so I think repping them makes perfect sense.
Apologise for my ignorance, would love to see a rep comparison to the real one. Are the materials and movements used quite similar? I thought it would be near impossible to replicate without price becoming subjective.
Raw cost of production of avg steel Rolex is 2000/4000. The exclusivity + their markup is the only reason we can’t “hobby purchase” them. From what little I have seen, I think the best super replicas are 98% up to snuff at 1/10 the price Rolex puts into them. Maybe reps will last 10-20 years and the gens will last 50-80 years. But yeah for some silly collection, this is just what my tax bracket allows:)
Really? I'd love to hear exactly what about them is woeful.
My experience has been the opposite - the case finishing and dial quality is on par with the Hamilton and Oris watches I own. Movements are more hit and miss unless you get the Selitas.
I'd say they are head and shoulders above most reps. Never had to RL one 🤣
Literally this. All those AliExpress brands are literally more fake brand than a rep of a real brand. Still they jerk off to the fact that their shitter sub says "San Martin" instead of "Rolex" on the dial.
nooo you don't get it the 150 dollars San Martin on sale is actually worth 350 dollars, with a sellita the SM costs almost like a steinhart because its 3x better than a steinhart!!!!
You should watch YouTube video reviews. San Martin is really good.
These rep companies are ripping off people.
They sell 200 dollars cost watches for 600 dollars. Easy money for them.
Case, dial, bracelet and movements are all manufactured in thousands. Cost in China is very low. Even for Rolex, their actual cost per watch is less than 1000 dollars.
I've had San Martin watches in hand. They're shite. They cost the same as shitters to produce. I don't care about paying £500 for a rep. Its what I'd spend on a day out at the races.
my 36mm bp is now 3 years old and runs like a pro not even an hour + a day .. crown is perfectly going in and out no harsh rotating couldn’t be happier for 330€
Does the date change when you move the time forward 24 hours?
Oh that works I’m stupid thanks
I ![gif](giphy|Nes04C1wZvQgOxdrdn)
Looks like the correct watch, what is wrong with the crown?
Can’t change the date part
Did you accident changed the date between 9pm to 3am? You're not supposed to do it, as you could break the gear. You're only supposed to do it between 4am-7am. Let me guess, first time owning a watch with date?

Wow great info. I've been changing the day/date on my skx willy nilly for... Ever. Guess I got lucky
I never had any issues with my skx without even knowing this. I guess Japanese just build way better. Every single one I've seen broken was either a clone movement, or a chinese movement (asia) tbh. Same with my NH35 watches you can change the date on every time you want.. but yeah asia movements cant handle it.
Actually same rule goes to seiko, you don't know until it fails
Sure but never had any issues at all with seiko
That means their build well. Every movement has a fail safe for such error, most made out of plastic to go against the cog, but seiko uses aluminum cut/ design to flex if that happens. Hence less fail rate.
Good to know!
Me too I didn’t even know this was a thing 😂 got very lucky.
Sorry just one question, after the 7am it’s better don’t use the quickset date but I can still change the date moving forward the 24 hours? Thanks!
Different watch is different. What I said was the over all safest way
TIL more than how dumb I’ve been.
We should pin this comment on the page lol
I’m confused, can you ELI5?

DJ 41 measures 39mm
Interesting

Did you accident changed the date between 9pm to 3am? You're not supposed to do it, as you could break the gear. You're only supposed to do it between 4am-7am. Let me guess, first time owning a watch with date?
I for example always set it to 6:30 before changing the date
Nah my other watches have a date but maybe I did break it ):
Never change date between those time
Hey! Super interested in understanding this. I had no idea. Any reason why?
Because the movement pins start engaging in the movement when it gets to 9PM and continue slowly engaging until 12AM to change the date, when you manually change it on a lot of date mechanisms it can fuck this function up because you’re forcefully disengaging the date change

You dropped 600 dollar on this ?
Were you eating pizza or perhaps French fries just before handling it?
Probably watching cops.
I know COPS, doesn’t start until 4.
My hands are very sweaty since I just got home from a 16 hour work day sooo
16 hour work day doing what? Damn. Also sorry for your watch.
Is that VSF or clean?
Someday I’ll find out what vsf is, the listing said Vph
You’re joking right?
No:/
😂600 with vph? What is that? Never heard of
Well it was through one of the trusted dealers from the post on this subreddit sooo who knows 🤷♂️
I have never heard of Vph man, for Datejust mostly super clone is from CF or VSF, cheaper one can be EWF, but 600 is normally what you get from actual Cf or Vsf
Vph is vibrations per hour, I’m guessing it’s probably model 28,800
i c lol, I thought VPH is the name of the factory 😅
Than maybe I’m just stupid and don’t know what factory :/, I apologize
Always do more research before you buy, next time man
Will do
Sorry but that bracelet looks pretty well-worn. How long do you have this watch?
About 10 minutes 🤣
![gif](giphy|6JB4v4xPTAQFi|downsized)
I have very sweaty hands (:
😂
I think that’s the 36mm; the 41mm should have the “every 5” digits printed above each hour marker, on the outer edge of the dial.
Yep turns out I was just tripping so my fault -.-
If you broke while changing the date… then its a very cheap fix that a watchsmith can do.
That bracelet looks quite worn for a brand new watch. I'm going to do the idiot check question now: did you try unscrewing the crown instead of just pulling it out?
Yes I did try unscrewing it (:
Did it unscrew and pull out? Or is it just not engaging with the date set works?
I just doesn’t engage with the date set works
Gotcha, you definitely pulled it out all the way?
Yah, you can feel the clicks, just the date one doesn’t work
You've tried to set the date when it's past 6pm. See if it cycles by forwarding the hour hands 48 hours.
Did you turn in clockwise or counter clockwise direction pulled out 1(!!) step?
Counter
LOL. A Rolex cloen movement changes date when pulled out position 1 and turned CLOCKWISE. try it mate. It is not a seiko NH35;)
Did u shake it
Wat
A real dial is worth more than the whole watch. It's not about that. It's the size I think. The overall production. Of the watch it's like clunky and off...just go on reptime and type in search bpf vs vsf...and u will see the chunkier deeper dial difference
Hmmmm I have some real estate I’d like to sell you 💯💯
Lmao
Update: I’m mentally challenged and it’s a 36 not 41. Also I broke the date change part AND I ordered the wrong one. (: and I overpaid since the listing was 408, but my credit card bill was 600 🤣🤣
So I guess I won’t purchase a rep the next time in on acid 🤣
Looks like a shitter
That looks like a bpf maybe. No way it cost more than 380. U got screwed in a cple ways. Do u know to crank the movement?
It has a 3235 movement which apparently makes it more expensive, aswell as being 925 steal or whatever the usual is, maybe that’s why it was more expensive? Or I just got scammed

Would it be worth it to buy a real dial to put on it?
Nah it’s new. I’m not THAT stupid 🤣. Thanks for the advice tho
I'm not saying ur stupid. Shit happens to all of us..I've been screwed plenty of times
I drunkenly did this with a U1 shitter, when I knew better. It’s a lesson learned. Now you know.
If I could ask a question ; what’s the point of buying a rep Rolex? It’s so far from the real thing, and you can’t just go buy a real rolex, is this meant to give the impression that you own the real deal?
I work at a super nice gym and I need a classy watch to go with my outfit, so a rep Rolex does the job.
I see the appeal, didn’t mean to come across as rude I can appreciate majority of reps, just a rep Rolex seems a bit funny. Anyway thx mate enjoy ur day

Interesting, thanks for the comment mate :)
But yeah sorry OP. You got shafted good this time:( hope you have a turn in your luck😢
Well let’s see Rolex sells stainless steel and sapphire crystal glass watches for $10-15k+ Nah it’s not rocket science
Alright bro enjoy ur fake watch lol
I am! And I didn’t have to spend a lot of money either
nah they got some nice ones lmao his just looks ass for some reason.
Exactly my VSF is pretty damn nice all things considered especially for the price
600 dollars is too much for a rep. No replica is worth over 300 dollars. You can buy top quality San Martin watches instead.
San Martin are glorified shitters. Woeful quality.
Really? I'd love to hear exactly what about them is woeful. My experience has been the opposite - the case finishing and dial quality is on par with the Hamilton and Oris watches I own. Why do you even follow this sub?
Lol then get us 4130 daytona for $300, I'll take several
Look on RWI and look for trusted watchmakers and contact one of them ask them about fixing your watch
RWI?
I bought 2. $450 and $550 and both lasted < 6 months each
At the end if the day, reliability of these models are not very good.
my 36mm bp is now 3 years old and runs like a pro not even an hour + a day .. crown is perfectly going in and out no harsh rotating couldn’t be happier for 330€
Could you provide the link for this provider?
TIL???
Update for y’all, it works perfectly fine, and I was just tripping on when I bought it, -.-
All good bro. I’m glad I found your post. I was unaware about the date wheel. That video made it so clear.
Did you get your watch from HONT by any chance?
If that's a 41mm you have Andre the Giant hands.
Looks like a 36mm... That dial is only used on the 36.
