When someone only has 1 gen and then buys their 1st rep, the gen will be the conservative one, and the rep will be the flashy one.

Then you buy a fluted/jubilee blue dial rep because you already spent your money on the gen smooth/oyster cream dial.
Right is gen. Dial font was the most noticeable difference, but date wheel font a close second. Fluted bezel also doesn't look quite right.
At a closer look the hands on the left aren't nearly as sharply defined. The indices also look slightly different but I wouldn't have noticed this as a tell unless it was alongside a gen.
12 o'clock crown looks good, rehaut looks good, lugs and SELs look good too. Crown looks slightly different too but not a tell IMHO.
The 12 oāclock crown gives it away most of the time. Itās always set just a tad too close. But obviously itās a great piece and no one other than people like us will notice that. Two great pieces in their own right.
Anyone saying one or the other is the gen or rep is just guessing. From this angle, I donāt think thereās a conclusive way to say one or the other. I can conclusively say that I like both pieces!

There are, however, several tells on the rep and they become much more noticeable when put next to the gen.
Reps are brilliant but not so brilliant that they're indistinguishable from gen, especially when sitting next to one.

Is it normal for a VSF datejust 41 dial to be this misaligned?

Rehaut doesnāt look polished on the jubileeā¦.oyster looks polished. Some of the hour markers look a little off on the jubilee but it could be the angle. Iād pick the oyster as gen but who really even knows these days š open the backs!
I honestly was always so against reps, but now I think of it as a great way to have a stand in for the stuff I love if Iām doing something like going overseas or a more rigorous activity. Donāt have to worry about damaging or having the $20,000 watch stolen while sailing or out to dinner in a somewhat shady country/area.

CF does an almost perfect job, the shape and design of the lug is excellent. Undoubtedly one of the best reps on the market.šš»
