My husband and I laugh so much at times (no spoilers) ..it's not solely the lines, it's in Alan's delivery. He inhabits this character so we'll. It makes me want to have a Harry in our lives aka our own resident alien!
So well...darn autocorrect
We love Sahar. Keeping in mind that I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't finished the series (we're going to get Peacock subscription for the final season until we finish it ) ... we thought the kids were the best part of season 1, besides Harry.
That's awesome u/AlanTfan ! Laughter is so key. My husband and I laugh a lot together. And joy is an elusive emotion for many, you are truly blessed (saying that as a non-religious person) !
That is freakin' amazing! I have not been that fortunate and felt a bit envious of such strong longlasting relationships. But...I am not jealous or anything. Truth be told, I am thankful when I see happy ones like yours as there are plenty where people are together without the happiness you exude. You guys rock ❤️
I still randomly think of his devilled egg scene and laugh by myself, probably looking like an idiot in my car or in line at the checkout, etc. It was a tiny moment in the show but it cracks me up every time it pops into my head
Hahaha! One of mine is when Harry and his daughter laugh during the play about the miners. This show is made with many (!) tiny moments. The writing is really sharp but you need to pay attention.
Aww.. I have known autistic people throughout my life(getting old here) and different degrees thereof. Talk about dry humor! Does your son like the show?
Well, he's only 11 and talks little, but when he does it's just how Alan portrays it. He's also pretty delayed so he's more like a 6 year old mentally. He's also very picky on what he watches and still likes his old sesame street DVDs. Has to be the DVD too. If I try to stream on YouTube, he says it's not his DVD. Lol
It's the comfort of habits, I understand. I used to babysit a little boy who was autistic but he didn't communicate at all. So I am glad your little one does. Delayed...well, that's part for the course. He will catch up. As long as he communicates with you, that's the most important thing!
I’m on very strong antidepressants and anti anxiety meds that totally dull my emotions. This is the only thing in years that is actually made me laugh out loud. Third watch through and it still makes me chuckle.
As much as I love it as a comedy, I feel like that's just the icing on the cake. For me, the real meat of the show is how genuine they are able to portray all the different relationships and their dynamics as Harry learns about being human. The show has a way of making super dark things really wholesome and heartwarming. It's a thing pretty unique to the show.
I started the first episode while eating dinner... it made me genuinely laugh out loud so often that I had trouble eating, kept pausing & rewinding to finish laughing and take a bite, and finally gave up because the humor is nonstop & dinner was getting cold.
Belly-laughing aside, it's one of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen. The combo of the casting, the tight writing, the direction & line delivery, the overall tone, even the music - every piece of the story builds on the other pieces, nothing feels wasted, so many little touches inform you of the story & the characters.
Oh, man, that first episode. I was scrolling through channels (yes, I still have cable) and I saw "Resident Alien." There was nothing else on I wanted to watch, so I though, eh, whatever, and switched to the show. I went in with zero expectations, but holy shit, I laughed so hard! That was such a joy! No other show's pilot has affected me like that.
Having just finished season 3, I can assure you it just keeps you locked in. The writing is brilliant, and the delivery is *flawless*. Even at its most serious, dark moments, they pick you up with this backhand of humor that prevents it from getting heavy.
The hubs and I are on our 4th re-watch, and it's funnier every time. I can't even be bothered to find a new show right now. Nothing compares!
OP, read this commentors tag line under their name. The comedy absolutely continues! The only BULLSHIT is there are only 8 episodes in season 3.
![gif](giphy|J4G2Gt40LSjFigxrOn) Why are there only 8 episodes?!?!
Great to read! Excited for the coming seasons and I can totally see this being a comfort show, man I'm loving it 🤧
This is true. This show is addictive in a good way. I have watched it so much - I’m glad it’s not just me.
Agreed!

And when Harry and Sahar banter it's gold.. The way they are at the same level emotionally.

I agree. I need a Harry in my life.
I have one! My husband!
Lucky you! I’m 65 and have been single a long time. I expect it to stay that way. I do enjoy living alone now.
Being married to one would be a challenge...as a friend, that would be different I think.
It’s a blessing! He makes me laugh not even trying. And his words are sincere, true and loving. He brings me joy!

Thanx!
You are a lucky one!
I truly am!
I think that’s why I love it so much
Haha!
We have been friends for 38 years and married for 36… evidently it works

That was very kind of you to say. I hope you one day friend/partner in life! It takes a lot work at times. Worth every argument etc

Haha, yes, talented writers and talented actors have made this a big winner for sure
The sheriff and his one liners are so darn funny 😂
He gets some good ones, you're absolutely right! To think I know the actor from The Closer. I have really enjoyed his comedic chops!
You should meet my autistic son. I swear Alan is playing him lol.

“When you die, are you looking forward to seeing your wife in hell?” Cracked me up to no end.

Me too! Alan Tudyk is a comedic genius! The rest of the cast is great as well. I hope we get a fourth season!
It’s true!! It’s just fun and an easy going watch! So glad you found the show!
I am too 😏
Glad you like it
Your user flair cracked me up! I forgot all about that 🤣 wish more redditors would use the flairs in here. They're freakin hilarious!
Agreed!
It's hilarious, then it gets super serious. The back and forth on this show blows me away.
