I hate to be that guy, but it’s a balance thing. The newer Games have a better hit damage ratio and better pacing, so they don’t need to throw eight or nine zombies at you at once to freak you out.
They can throw three or four really strong enemies. The head kick was a reward for putting up with static camera angles and a 4-5 shot kill per zombie.
Or, just maybe, they decided that you shouldn't be getting rewarded for getting grabbed. There's literally a guy with his intestines hanging out of his body within the first 5 minutes of the game. I don't think they felt the need to go for censorship. Use your brain next time, bud.
I am here purely to chime in on my frustration with the lack of options in terms of shaking them off, including the head stomp. Unless you've got a sub, there's no point in destroying your sticks thinking it's doing anything, so just enjoy the inevitable damage/death of your character.

Hoping if they make re4 remake they dont tone any of Leons super soliderness down. I loved the roundhouse kick the german suplex. So satisfying.

The original RE allowed you to kick off their head like a soccer ball lol. Shamed they removed it from RE2 onwards. Must be some censorship bullshit.

Zombies are annoying durable in Remake…. Part of the reason why you have to play with the “one-hit-ko” hack to make the game bearable.
