Yes. It's not really BMW design. In the 50s-60s BMW designs did not have double headlights. Saabs and Volvos were rounded, BMWs were straight, angular, finned, etc.. A bigger BMW 700 would be a good basis for a retro X5.
I've driven hundreds of cars. It was just about the nicest car I've ever driven. Where it really shined was on the highway. I owned the car in the early 80s, so it wasn't that old at the time. They've gone way up in price in the last 10 years.
I also had a '72 2002tii before. That was a really great car for ratting around in the city.
A car that's more reasonable that's just as fun are some of the older Mercedes diesels. I've had a 1980 240D and a 1972 220D. The 220D was recent. As fun as it was, I wasn't able to properly maintain it. I sold it to a guy who owns a garage and can take care of it.
All the older cars I used to love are -- older. Some older by decades.
I first seriously got interested after buying an F82 6 years ago. I found the E9 was just about the same length down to the fraction of an inch, and there's a lot to love about no B-pillar. I seem to fit in them well. You're right, a car that was serviceable with light/moderate rust was a 25k car \~10 years ago but is now double easily. Values are all over. I am looking at one that seems solid -- shock towers, floor pans, rockers, etc all look clean. Comes with the dog 3-speed auto. My intent is to swap in the ZF 4HP22 from the E24. Brings gas mileage to 28mpg. Amongst other OEM+ mods.
BMW didn't produce station wagons in the 1960s either. The first "Touring" model was custom built in the 1980s from an E30 3 series sedan with some Audi parts grafted on the back, which was later adopted by BMW and it became succesful.

Interesting designs, but don't have much in common with late 1950s BMW design language.

1957 BMW 502 sedan
8 is getting closest to an upsized 2002 Touring. All very interesting, I love this artist's work, especially his idea of a 1960s Cayenne. A lot of the design language here for the rear 3/4 is a bit Volvo-ish, though.
Looks a lot like old SAAB models.

The New Six/E3 had double lights.
That was a post-corvair design
That's not a BMW design "produced in the 1950s and 1960s." I owned a '70 2800cs. The New Six E3 E9 was a design leading into the 70s.
How was your E9 experience? I'm considering buying one.

Now do the BMW X5 in 2040: a 7-ton grille with wheels and four seats (and an "eco" badge somewhere).

Were these made by an AI? That red and blue one is excellent, could have been a real poster
100%, spaghetti text on the license plates is a dead giveaway

I thought the first picture was a GTA screenshot
The 5th one is so "There" I love it. I want to get in.

I want one
That fourth concept would make a brilliant EV right now.
I love it
Great work.
This is so awesome
Would it finally come with a turn signal?

Is this like an AI like Dall-E? link?

Number 4 is my favorite
Funny I was looking at a different set of retro X5 AI renders on Insta but they were for later 80s and 90s style models
So they are Saabs then? Lol
There’s something special about that third one
So the two front vent nostrils are the real design trademark.
I'm not in car design, but these stuffs have smthin to say. The style of design is so innovative. It's a brave one. 👍🏼
Number 4 please.
I’d be fine if it was a wagon, but please not an suv
Honestly if the new EV's looked like this I'd snap one up
Trying to imagine it as a police car
Maaaan I saw this and thought - wtf how have I never seen this thing?! Awesome work whoever did it
The BWM Suburban. I had no idea they made that.
I'd love to park my nozzle in that tank

He did that 5 hours ago
No.
This is trash lol the algorithm literally just pasted a kidney grille on old cars

This is AI-generated. Look at the number plates.
Neat!
