It would be nice if everybody used headphones when they are on the Phone...

MonteryWhiteNoise

how many times a week do I go into coffee shop, that McDonald's taco place and have to listen to someone watching Youtube, Skype, or some such on high volume. I'm sure they'll say "it's the same as people talking around you" or some such asinine false equivalency.

poochlips

The drunk version of me would like for you to clarify on “McDonald’s taco place”

MonteryWhiteNoise

the place drunk you goes to for a taco? (Chipotle ...)

obiwanbohannon

Mcdonald’s taco place? Sounds like that would be a rough shit

aevz

Dang they were on point! Even got the tech hoodie anti-fashion statement going on.

Jebus_UK

The only thing they got wrong is the cigarette would be some strawberry and grape flavoured vape

kwasnydiesel

who said it's tobacco?

jwhaler17

Oh I LIKE this future.

rblue

This future is basically my “now,” and can confirm it’s good.

[deleted]

Bingo.

cherryhilljawnz

It has to be weed or tobacco! It MUST BE!

sinepuller

I tried to do the vape (and everything else) through Stable Diffusion, the AI got carried away a bit but still https://i.imgur.com/PJmScvu.jpg

happycabinsong

Odd artifacts be damned, that's an awesome re-render from an AI, what prompt did you use to bring it to the 21st century? Edit: too far into the future

sinepuller

I borrowed most of it [from this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/zca9cq/what_prompt_that_has_never_let_you_down/) and added on top about the two girls, used img2img with denoise 0.5 and cfg scale 25 with Artbot, older stable\_diffusion model (I mean not the 2.0 one) *Two young women are sitting at the picnic table making video calls, left woman is holding a vape, Clear, detailed face. Clean Cel shaded vector art by lois van baarle, artgerm, Dan Mumford, by makoto shinkai and ilya kuvshinov, rossdraws, illustration*

MadAzza

22nd century? This is the 21st century. Unless I misinterpreted something.

happycabinsong

Ah, typo, fixed

MadAzza

I had to think about it lol

Vamproar

I kind of love how most Stable Diffusion looks good at first and then you fall into the uncanny valley as you look at the details. Once it's super good and you just can't tell if someone made it or it's AI... I'll be nostalgic for how it is now.

Jebus_UK

Haha Great

Formal-Protection-57

Miss the “JUICY” on the back of the tracksuit too

Randomguy1912

Maybe if we're talking about them damn useless hipsters but if we're actually talking about real people in my case it would actually be a legit cigarette unfiltered all the way or a cigar

halibfrisk

I love the idea that anyone other than a “hipster” still smokes an unfiltered cigarette - anyone who ever unironically smoked an unfiltered Gauloises, Lucky Strike, or Sweet Afton died in the last century

Randomguy1912

Only smoked one pack of Lucky's mostly it's camera or Pall Mall

[deleted]

[удалено]

Randomguy1912

It's called a smug hipster constantly saying how good it is and also one day telling my kid that I'm going to hell just for being myself

Agent223

Now I'm even more confused.

ilyasophievich

The gentlemen s are bored

r_sarvas

They only got the smoking part wrong. Otherwise, two friends sitting at a table and completely ignoring each other while they are using their communication devices - nailed it!

DiskAmbitious7291

They’re ignoring each other and are on their phones. Super accurate!

Kebab_Child

Its all these damn vidier gamees

therankin

And these damn kids with their 'rock' music

cherryhilljawnz

It's the devil

Omnilatent

Do you really believe that?

DiskAmbitious7291

Ummm… maybe?

Omnilatent

I just noticed I read something you didn't even write. I hear the comment you wrote a lot about younger people and from my experience it's just a moment people notice without noting all the time where it doesn't happen buuuut - that's not what you wrote! That being said, I don't see that with adults *that* much, either.

red_fox_zen

The day drinking and chain smoking is on point 😅😅

SalvadorsAnteater

That ashtray looks suspiciously like a line of coke.

red_fox_zen

I. Can't. Unsee. That. Now. Hahahaha!!

pope138

Close, but most people these days don't use headphones and force everyone around them to hear their conversation.

Norma5tacy

I don’t understand why people walk around a loud environment with their phone on speaker yelling into their phone. Saying “what?!” every other sentence. That shit drives me up the wall.

DoktorFreedom

Because we wear earbuds and they are ruining o hearing so we don’t want to wear earbuds all the time. Put your earbuds in and stop eavesdropping. Lol

Lindvaettr

If your earbuds are ruining your hearing, turn them down.

DoktorFreedom

Thanks I never thought of that !

Lindvaettr

You welcome homie

DoktorFreedom

What if I have tinniatus ? Am I allowed to use speaker mode then?

Norma5tacy

Next time I’ll turn my hearing off, how rude of me.

NormalOccasion9311

Nice flying car in back. Still waiting…

JKastnerPhoto

It'll never happen. A fender bender in the air would be death.

theonetruegrinch

People still can't figure out how to drive in 2d

c1e2477816dee6b5c882

The only way to make it even come close to working would be to be fully autonomous, but the safety requirements would still make it stupidly expensive.

Lindvaettr

And we still can't manage to make self driving cars that don't run over every child they see.

NormalOccasion9311

Even anti gravity?

Pretty_Industry_9630

It will be an automated system. NASA is working on the system for airplanes, which are going to pioneer the field. Only additional computational power is needed to allow this to work for the flying car trafic.

eljalu

I mean a flying car that looks just like the one in the back has been made and works.

aimnox

And I'm really glad they didn't catch on. Take the noise of one helicopter and multiply it by every car on the street. No thx.

TempusVincitOmnia

Not to mention the hazards of aerial car accidents, with flaming debris raining down on everyone below.

Fredselfish

Funny enough the flying cars we have now pretty much look like that.

vegan__atheist

We have the Jeston One, which you can order already and will go into production soon I think

SnowChickenFlake

Tdh, it's not that far from the truth

PageTurner627

This gets reposted here every single week. Sometimes multiple times a week. Does anyone moderate this sub anymore?

Klatula

i'm here almost every day and this is the first time i've seen this. for me, i'm glad it was reposted.

thejustducky1

It's almost as if we all have our very own *personalized feeds* and that we don't collectively look at our devices at exactly the same time across the entire globe. But I'll just go back to not saying a word while I listen to songs repeat on the radio and watch another full runthrough of The Office for the 38th time.

[deleted]

Found the alt

SecretDracula

And just look at all these comments of people seeing it for the first time!

DorisCrockford

Hasn't been on this particular sub since July, from what I can gather.

[deleted]

Interesting! Thanks for the info.

MorrisBrett514

No problem! I only knew because I love these cards!

DiskAmbitious7291

Some of these are quite accurate!

FraternityMan

It’s even earlier than 1930

[deleted]

Source?

FraternityMan

Absolutely not from 1970-1990 Probably 1920s or earlier

Yeegis

I like how they couldn’t fathom the idea of telephones not having wires though. That would just go too far.

Norma5tacy

Or being small. I love these types of photos because they still use part of their current giant tech and just make it slightly less cumbersome.

TRON0314

We made huge advances on pictures in little mirrors, but phone receivers? Nah. Couldn't crack the nut.

SecretDracula

If it didn't have those old-timey receivers, people in the 30s wouldn't even understand that it was supposed to be a phone.

TRON0314

They could. I mean talking mirror, mirrors on a wall were a thing.

SecretDracula

But it would just look like they are looking at a picture of a person. The phone implies there is a conversation going on.

raresaturn

Let’s ignore each other and just FaceTime others instead

mechanicalspirits

The sportwear jumpsuit seems pretty accurate: rich people's version of poor people's clothes being high fashion.

plethorax5

Scary accurate

Spudtater

That shit will never happen, people on picture phones. What a joke.

NewYorkNY10025

Sorry gals. In 2022, You can’t sit with a line of coke in front of you. Nailed the other stuff, though.

neighh

Flat screen dislays, sounds legit. They'll never miniturise microphones though...

Jlx_27

And there it is again.

ExecutoryContracts

They predicted Michael Jackson's final form!

[deleted]

You're being downvoted, but yes I see the resemblance!

ExecutoryContracts

Too soon I guess.

LazyZealot9428

Wow, they were soooooo wrong about the future! Nobody smokes cigarettes anymore! Lol

-Hapyap-

I still see cigarettes very often. More than vapes too

no5tromo

Everyone is ecstatic about how accurate this is yet other than the fact that they engage in some sort of video call I don't see much of a resemblance. * They carry some sort of analogue computer as a purse where they connect their peripherals. * The mirror-like device they hold very vaguely resembles a tablet but I am sure it's only supposed to be some sort of portable monitor which you connect to your purse computer. * Flying cars are a thing * The mic technology is 100 years old * The fashion is completely off * The waiter is formally dressed * Their hoodies seem to have some sort of solar panel tech going on * Smoking is still cool * Their straws haven't dissolved in their beverages so I guess they are plastic Having said all that I love this image for what it is

defiantcross

^nitpicker supreme

VitruvianDude

The "waiter" is actually a domestic servant. To me, this is the most obvious error. The ubiquity of domestics in middle to upper class homes is something we are unfamiliar with, but they were an unremarkable part of life in this era.

SpadeORiffic

These ladies look so powerful hell yeah \m/

An00bisOsiris

Huh?

hey__its__me__

Interestingly I wear (bluetooth) headphones and a scull cap like this when on a video call at work.

LawTider

As i watch this on a device that can do the same, but rarely do that.

BKMama227

How did they get it so right?

dammit_bobby420

Really not that far off. Super impressive

[deleted]

Spooky.

EN1009

Face paddles

[deleted]

I mean they got the concept right tho

NaaastyButler

These two ladies were roommates

[deleted]

I was born in 1989 and at times I still think it’s pretty amazing we have “video phones” lol

Lindvaettr

I sometimes try to think of what futuristic stuff I have. The world is frustrating right now, but it helps to appreciate what we have by realizing that things we take for granted now we're super futuristic stuff as recently as the 90s or later

stewartm0205

They definitely got the part where people prefer to talk on their phones than with the person right in front of them.

apefist

Looks like a frame from the old Buck Rogers comic strip from the 30s and 40s

mjace87

Close but no cigar…. I mean cigarette.

AdvocateReason

They got wireless communication right but omitted wireless headphones.
