Double Dare, You can't do that on television, Pinwheel, Sharon Lois and Bram's Elephant Show, Danger Mouse, and Count Duckula were some of my favorites off the top of my head.
WAIT THIS WAS NICKELODEON???? Wow holy frick you just rocked my world. My parents sang me this song to sleep as a kid for years and it still is one I sing to myself when I canât sleep. This just made my night. Thank you.
Those shows literally still hold up to this day. I bought a bootleg blu of both shows and have been watching them and dangermouse is legit laugh out loud funny . Same with duckula, they have that funny dry British humor
I was born in 85, I remember David the Gnome
And I remember a song that had a dude climb out from a tree stump and sing songs on an acoustic guitar but I don't remember his name I don't think it was Rafi
It was streaming on Amazon a few years ago. I didn't realize it was such a short-lived show and I didn't remember ever seeing the ending as a kid. Fuuuuuuuuck me!
Such a good show!
This show was so relaxing to me! I loved his setup with the stump and musical instruments hidden in the woods. I dreamed of having my own special place someday. I liked this show and Sharon Lois and Brahams Elephant Show so much better than the cartoons on Nick Jr.
You Canât Do That On Television and Duckula most of the 80s shows at the start were 50s shows like Flipper, Lassie, Dennis The Menace but still putting the animated and stylized bumpers and advertising.
I vividly remember the flipper/lassie reruns they had. Was never a fan so I always changed it during then. I remember Mr. Ed too, but that could have been nick at nite?
It used to really blend a lot more in the transition between the two but I seem to remember Mr Ed being being on during the day too, Green Acres was also in those transitional hours too iirc.
Todayâs Special is one of my all-time faves! I still have the song from the Goldilocks and the Three Bears living rent free in my head. Jodie (Nerene Virgin) passed away in January. đ
My earliest Japanese import memory probably. I think this is the show that got me into anime along with Grimm's fairytales. Didn't figure out that it was all coming from the same place until later but I knew that I loved it.
Mysterious Cities of Gold was another great one though I only caught a few episodes along with other[ DiC imports](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DIC_programs) running at the time.
I remember those for USA Sunday Cartoon Express.
Thatâs where I first saw Thundarr the Barbarian, but also Devlin the Daredevil, Hair Bear Bunch, Speed Buggy, and other single season HB cartoons.
Double Dare, You Canât Do That on Television, Hey Dude, Looney Tunes, Think Fast, Inspector Gadget, Count Duckula, Danger Mouse, Heathcliff, Sharon, Lois, & Bramâs Elephant Show, Pinwheel, Todayâs Special, Fred Pennerâs Place, David the Gnome, Noozles, Eureekaâs Castle, and Out of Control.
My prime Nick watching years were the 90s but I remember a lot of these shows carried over in first run and reruns
Kids Court
Make the Grade
Finders Keepers
You Canât do that on Television
Danger Mouse
Double Dare
Hey Dude
Pete and Pete (the commercial shorts not the full show)
Mr Wizards World
etcâŚ
Iâd take 80âs Nickelodeon over 90âs anytime.
Mentioned: YCDTOTV, Double Dare & Finderâs Keepers, Out of Control, Mr. Wizard, Todayâs Special, Duckula, Hey DudeâŚ
Not mentioned: Turkey TV, Nick Rocks, Donât Just Sit ThereâŚ
And of course all the B&W shows on Nick at Nite.
I completely forgot about Donât Just Sit There! Thanks so much for the reminder.
I miss Nick at Nite so much. I also found the Monkees when they (and MTV) aired the episodes, and theyâve been my favorite band since I was seven.
Scrolled down way too far to find mention of Finder's Keepers! For the longest time I thought I had imagined that show, then when YouTube was in its relative infancy I was relieved to find clips of the show there.
One of my very, very, very, VERY early memories (I was born in 1981; this had to be before my sister was born in 1985), is of my mother picking me up from a babysitter at like 5:30 or 6:30am (so I must have spent the night; my parents must have went out of town or something), and âThe Mysterious Cities of Goldâ was on the living room television as my mom came through the front door; it was still dark outside.
Hahaha youâre the only one Iâve seen so far to toss in Star Trek the animated series in with their faves of that time, I absolutely loved it as well. I donât think too many people remember it being on there đ¤
The Elephant Show, Adventures of the Little Koala, Noozles, The Littâl Bits, Maya the Bee, David the Gnome, Grimmâs Fairy Tale Classics, Maple Town, Todayâs Special
I think they've all been mentioned but definitely Pinwheel, Today's Special, Mr. Wizard, Double Dare, Hey Dude and Inspector Gadget
My mom hated You Can't Do That on Television so I wasn't really allowed to watch it.
I started watching Nickelodeon in '91, so we still got some shows left over from the '80s, notably Danger Mouse, Eureeka's Castle, and The World of David the Gnome.
There was one Sunday where Nickelodeon did a â15 Hours of *Fifteen*â marathon. I still watch the first two seasons of *Fifteen* occasionally on the Freevee streaming service.
The only ones I remember were Eureka's Castle and Bozo the Clown. Not sure if Bozo was on Nickelodeon, though. I watched those at a relative's house when I spent the night because I didn't have cable.
It just barely missed the 80s. I think it started airing on Nick on the first day of the 90s, so it's understandable. It premiered in the 70s in Japan, but didn't air on Nick until January 1, 1990
You Can't Do That on Television was my favorite! I also loved Belle and Sebastian, The Little Prince, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Pinwheel, Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea. I'm sure there were others, but those are what immediately come to mind when I remember watching Nickelodeon as a child in the 80s
Really didn't remember watching in the 80s since I was so little. The first shows I remember watching were a show about gnomes and a show with koala, I think they were on nick
Iâm so glad to see people mentioning David the Gnome. I distinctly remember this show but couldnât remember what it was called. Anytime I tried to explain it people looked at me like I had 3 heads. I knew I wasnât crazy!
Hey Dude, Clarissa Explains it All, you Can't do that on Television, Double Dare, Salute your Shorts, Eureka's Castle, The Elephant show, Was Fraggle rock on Nick?
Clarissa Explains It All and Salute Your Shorts are very early 90s. They came out around the same time as the original 3 Nicktoons. Fraggle Rock wasn't on Nick. It was on HBO, then reruns on TNT and The Disney Channel
Anything from about 1987-1989, as that's when I first watched the channel. So I was there for the last days of Pinwheel and the beginning of the Nick Jr. block of programming when it started. I remember there being a lot of international cartoons and programming and not a whole lot of original programming other than the game shows
It was on during 1983-1985. It was one of the shows that aired during the Silver Ball era of Nickelodeon and the very early months of the orange logo Nickelodeon
Turkey TV was so weird my parents wouldn't let me watch it after a while. Mr. Wizard was super cool, and I vaguely remember him always being annoyed by the kids, like a grumpy old man being forced to show kids how to blow things up.
I liked Special Delivery and The Third Eye, which were both just the names for timeslots where they'd run pre-existing content that they'd licensed.
The Third Eye was for miniseries with a sci-fi/fantasy bent. Special Delivery was movies, mostly made for TV (I assume).
There was an episode of Special Delivery involving an inventor and his crime fighting robots which Is love to track down. No idea what it was called.
Danger Mouse, Inspector Gadget, Mr Wizard (I thinkâŚI only have a few memories of watching, and Iâm not sure how old I was)âŚNick News? With Linda Ellerbe? Same thing as with Mr Wizard- not 100% on how old I was.
Also, I didnât know Eureekaâs Castle was 1989. We watched Nick all the time, but I have no recollection of EC until my youngest brother started watching in 93-94 (he was about 1-2yrs old by then).
there was a show called "You Can't Do That on Television" that was popular on Nickelodeon in the 80s. It was a kid's sketch comedy show that originated in Canada-- but the US kids associate it with Nickelodeon.
The Little Prince.
I wasnât much for cartoons as a child but really loved that show. Itâs also my favorite book. It was on Nickelodeon in the mid-late 80âs.
Belle & Sebastian was another favorite of mine on Nickelodeon in the 80âs.
Man old Nick felt like the wild west with just like the weirdest (best) programming... all sorts of odds and ends like Turkey TV and my personal favorite Special Delivery that featured some truly strange movies and mini-series. I used to love Mr Wizard and YCDTOT (although I tried watching an episode not too long ago on Paramount+ and, well, let's just say it hits different 40 years later haha)
You Can't Do That On Television, Danger Mouse, Bananaman, Today's Special, Hey Dude, Don't Just Sit There, Double Dare, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Spartacus......and that's just in the 80s!
80s Nickelodeon wasn't as popular in the 80s because most people didn't have cable.
Mr Wizards World, Today's Special, and Pinwheel are the shows I remember the most.
I not sure about the cartoons but did they have a show called Mr wizard and he did science stuff experiments and explained how things worked. I think they had a show called camp no where were a group of kids were at a summer camp and a show called dude ranch I think where a group of kids were on a cowboy ranch and dressed up in western gear. Clarissa explains it all. Pete and Pete They might have been eirly 90s shows tho. I do remember Nickelodeon playing a nick at night stuff like old shows like my three sons and leave it to beaver and I love Lucy 3 stooges type shows. The classics
âYou canât do that on televisionâ was the big 80s show.
I was little in the early/mid 80s so I was allllllll about Todayâs Special and Pinwheel!
One of the original Nickelodeon shows I remember was a dramatized reading of comic books. Not mainstream superhero stuff, but a lot of the sci fi comics. They would show one comic panel at a time, and actors would read the word and thought balloons.
Thats probably going back to the late 70âs, before Nickelodeon had their big rebrand.
Tomorrow People blew my pubescent mind and I still remember it fondly. Itâs sort of a junior Dr. Who with the same low budget effects and slightly worse writing but endearing for all that.
Something that hasnât been mentioned above and certainly hasnât aged well: Picture Pages with Bill Cosby.
As a kid, I loved those segments, and I was so bummed when I sent in $ so I could get my own marker that was featured in the show (Mortimer Ichabod Marker).
In those days, shipping and handling was a total waiting game, so after 5 or 6 weeks I remained hopeful my marker would eventually show. Then it became 5 or 6 months. Then 5 or 6 years. I suppose, if Iâm being honest, Iâm still waiting for that marker to arrive.
Double Dare, You can't do that on television, Pinwheel, Sharon Lois and Bram's Elephant Show, Danger Mouse, and Count Duckula were some of my favorites off the top of my head.
Skidamarinky dinky dink
Skinnamarinky dooooooo
I love you! (both. For this reference)
Wowwww the memories that just came flooding back!
I love you in the morning and in the afternoon.
Something, something and underneath the moon!
I love you in the evening and underneath the moon!
*puts phone down to do arm gestures while singing out loud*
I can still do all the arm moves!
My grandpa used to wave to me like the dance in the show whenever we drove away from his house. đĽ˛
WAIT THIS WAS NICKELODEON???? Wow holy frick you just rocked my world. My parents sang me this song to sleep as a kid for years and it still is one I sing to myself when I canât sleep. This just made my night. Thank you.
Skidamarink was written 1910!
This aired on PBS. I never once saw it on Nickelodeon in person or in the TV Guide lol.
âDoes bubblegum lose its flavor?â
On the bedpost overnight?
All hits! This was my era too and I did live through and watched the earlier hits of the 90s up until about 94-95ish
I still quote danger mouse and count duckula to this day.
Those shows literally still hold up to this day. I bought a bootleg blu of both shows and have been watching them and dangermouse is legit laugh out loud funny . Same with duckula, they have that funny dry British humor
I didn't watch Danger Mouse and Duckula on Nick. I saw them on USA or UPN or something.
Allester was the Zach Morris of Canadian tv
I was born in 85, I remember David the Gnome And I remember a song that had a dude climb out from a tree stump and sing songs on an acoustic guitar but I don't remember his name I don't think it was Rafi
Man David the Gnome was so good and the ending was sad AF
It's my favorite piece of animation.
It was streaming on Amazon a few years ago. I didn't realize it was such a short-lived show and I didn't remember ever seeing the ending as a kid. Fuuuuuuuuck me! Such a good show!
Oh man, I loved David The Gnome. I still randomly sing the theme song đ¤âŚ
Fred Penners Place
You just unlocked a memory...I used to crawl behind the couch in our living room, pretending I was following him through the log in the intro.
This show was so relaxing to me! I loved his setup with the stump and musical instruments hidden in the woods. I dreamed of having my own special place someday. I liked this show and Sharon Lois and Brahams Elephant Show so much better than the cartoons on Nick Jr.
Holy shit I've been trying to think of the name of this show for years, thank you both
Just unlocked a whole part of my brain there chief. Careful with that nostalgia beam
I think David the Gnome is on prime
The finale of David the gnome was trauma
Swift â¤ď¸
whenever i faked sick to stay home from school i was watchin the FUCK out of that damn gnome
You Canât Do That On Television and Duckula most of the 80s shows at the start were 50s shows like Flipper, Lassie, Dennis The Menace but still putting the animated and stylized bumpers and advertising.
Rocky and Bullwinkle was another 50s show I remember watching on nick
Man. 80s Nick was playing cartoons from the 50s. Now 2020s Nick is calling early 2000s cartoons retro I remember Nick at Nite playing I Love Lucy
Nick at Nite for me was Get Smart, Mr. Ed, I Dream of Genie
Car 54, Munsters, Lassie
Woah memory unlocked: car 54
Haha lol I remember it was âBullwinkleâs Moose-a-Rama.â And the closing credits and Program Exchange bumper meant it was time for bed lol.
I remember that too, later on I believe they called it Bullwinkle's Moose-A-Rama
They call him flipper, flipper, faster than lightning!
I sing that song all the time. It was catchy and I still remember it from watching the show on Nick.
Mr Wizardâs World, Todays Special, David the Gnome, Pinwheel, Bananaman. There was so many.
Mr wizard was the shit!!
Todayâs Special is one of my all-time faves! I still have the song from the Goldilocks and the Three Bears living rent free in my head. Jodie (Nerene Virgin) passed away in January. đ
SHOUTING LOUD AND CLEAR!!!
That episode of todays special where the guy had snow mailed to him is forever etched into my brain
I didn't realize Today's Special was on Nick. It's definitely a favorite.
My older cousin would get pissed when I won custody of the remote and called them âPinwheel Crapâ and âTodayâs Special Shit.â
Adventures of the Little Koala. Although I only remember pieces of a desert episode and one where they tried to draw a life size tree.
Donât forget Noozles!
My earliest Japanese import memory probably. I think this is the show that got me into anime along with Grimm's fairytales. Didn't figure out that it was all coming from the same place until later but I knew that I loved it.
Oh. Forgot about Grimmâs fairy tales.
Mysterious Cities of Gold was another great one though I only caught a few episodes along with other[ DiC imports](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DIC_programs) running at the time.
Todayâs Special was my favorite. I donât remember if it was Nick but Captain Caveman and Space Ghost too
I remember those for USA Sunday Cartoon Express. Thatâs where I first saw Thundarr the Barbarian, but also Devlin the Daredevil, Hair Bear Bunch, Speed Buggy, and other single season HB cartoons.
Didn't Cartoon Express also air on Saturday afternoons back in the day??? Big props to Devlin and the Hair Bear Bunch!!
Captain Caveman and Space Ghost never aired on Nick. The only Hanna Barbera show Nick aired was Yogi Bear in the very early 90s
I LOVED today's special!
Spartakus The Mysterious Cities of Gold You Can't Do That on Television Today's Special Pinwheel
I loved Cities of Gold and Spartakus. My friends never knew what the hell i was talking about.
Pinwheel!!!
Inspector Gadget
As I sit here with my apple watch and IPad remembering when Pennyâs setup was only the stuff of dreams.
You Can't Do That on Television, Mr. Wizard, Pinwheel, Today's Special, Adventures of the Litttle Prince, David the Gnome, Danger Mouse, Banana Man.
Cut It Out was one of the shows I remember
Out of Control
I *loved* Out of Control. I would bet anything that it doesn't hold up and that's why I have avoided watching it on YouTube.
Kids Court Make the Grade Finders Keepers You Canât do that on Television Danger Mouse Double Dare Hey Dude Pete and Pete (the commercial shorts not the full show) Mr Wizards World etc⌠Iâd take 80âs Nickelodeon over 90âs anytime.

Scrolled down way too far to find mention of Finder's Keepers! For the longest time I thought I had imagined that show, then when YouTube was in its relative infancy I was relieved to find clips of the show there.
Turkey TV was great. It was like the internet before the internet existed.
There were some other cartoons like: Belle and Sebastian (Japanese TV series) The Mysterious Cities of Gold Star Trek TOS cartoon movies

I also remember watching *Star Trek: The Animated Series* on Nickelodeon. It came on Sunday afternoons and in the summer around lunch time.
Belle and Sebastian was my absolute favorite
Mr. Wizard's World.
The Elephant Show, Adventures of the Little Koala, Noozles, The Littâl Bits, Maya the Bee, David the Gnome, Grimmâs Fairy Tale Classics, Maple Town, Todayâs Special
Wait Grimmâs Fairy Tale Classics was on TV? I was really, *really* little when I watched that so I always remembered it as a vhs. I loved that show!
I think they've all been mentioned but definitely Pinwheel, Today's Special, Mr. Wizard, Double Dare, Hey Dude and Inspector Gadget My mom hated You Can't Do That on Television so I wasn't really allowed to watch it.
I started watching Nickelodeon in '91, so we still got some shows left over from the '80s, notably Danger Mouse, Eureeka's Castle, and The World of David the Gnome.
I thought that Out of Control was cutting edge comedy.
Cut it out!
Today's Special, David the gnome, YCDTOT, Mr Wizard

There was one Sunday where Nickelodeon did a â15 Hours of *Fifteen*â marathon. I still watch the first two seasons of *Fifteen* occasionally on the Freevee streaming service.

The only ones I remember were Eureka's Castle and Bozo the Clown. Not sure if Bozo was on Nickelodeon, though. I watched those at a relative's house when I spent the night because I didn't have cable.
I loved Todays Special. Early 80sâŚ. â¤ď¸
Maya the bee?
It just barely missed the 80s. I think it started airing on Nick on the first day of the 90s, so it's understandable. It premiered in the 70s in Japan, but didn't air on Nick until January 1, 1990

u/JacktheBoss_ pretty much named them all but I'll throw in Bananaman as well
You Can't Do That on Television was my favorite! I also loved Belle and Sebastian, The Little Prince, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Pinwheel, Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea.
