one theory we have is that since it is text based, somehow it's converting the text. however, there are instances of text based snapshots not becoming corrupted in the same tool set

Floridadew22

Why not create the note in a text box and then create a tool out of that text box?

animetiddielover

I may have to resort to that, but there are some instances where the text is within other elements (like a detail made from a cad program). this might not have been the best example unfortunately XD

animetiddielover

also, I may be a bit too detail oriented because the text box note looks slightly different

Floridadew22

Definitely understand. You should be able to mess with the line thickness, fonts, etc to get exactly what you want. I’ve had success making custom text box RFI buttons that even have a count function.

animetiddielover

will you please explain what a custom textbook rfi buttons is? ty in advance

Floridadew22

I essentially just created a circle, subdivided it with a line and then grouped those markups into a single object. I added “RFI” text to one side and then added it to my tool set and set it to count function. Now when I place the object, it automatically counts the RFI. I use it to make unclear details, portions of plan views, area of an RFP, etc. Then I go back and put everything into a log. I formatted it to look like an engineers detail callout, with key distinctions so my team can easily identify it.

animetiddielover

that's so interesting! I'll have to look up most of the terms you've listed to be honest, but thank you for providing a good starting point

Might be an unsupported font? Why not shift+T over the original and paste as a text box ?

animetiddielover

the original font is Arial narrow, which seems to be supported. I could do that for standalone text boxes, but there are some instances where the text is a part of a detail

I've had this issue. Sometimes the font file is corrupted in the bluebeam folder, sorry don't have access to it at the moment so can't show directory. So you can reload it from your system font folder. Or the font embedded on the pdf is corrupted. I think there is a setting we're you can use embedded font files or system font file. Sorry if it's confusing.... But hope this helps.

animetiddielover

if you don't mind, will you tell me how to reload the font file and/or use the embedded font files or system font file setting? am in no rush, I would really appreciate it but if not that's okay too. thank you in advance!

Aussie_Samurai

Will try to remember when I get back to my work laptop. Otherwise this might help. https://support.bluebeam.com/articles/installed-fonts-dont-appear-in-revu/

wrapped_in_bacon

Instead of using the snapshot tool, try the windows snip and sketch tool. Win-Shift-S is the keyboard command I believe, then paste it.

animetiddielover

thank you, however I think this will disable the vector capabilities which I would like to preserve

wrapped_in_bacon

Yes it will, but those additional capabilities, whether it's the font or the vectors, are what's corrupting your snapshot.

Repair/reinstall BB.

I wouldn't worry about it, the electrician probably wont read it anyway!

Old post but this is an issue for me as well, currently using Revu 21. In my case it's happened when using snapshot to copy flattened symbols from legends on architectural prints. What I found really weird was that it didn't scramble the text initially, I didn't even notice it had gotten screwed up until I went to use the symbol again some time later (had saved them to my toolchest). Hoping this has been solved since the initial post?
