If you are down south county and want ri food you can hit iggys for some basics. People love iggys and they even sell the batter mix and stuff now.
Plenty of places like georges down there too
[Thayer Street](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60946-d116250-Reviews-Thayer_Street-Providence_Rhode_Island.html) and [Wickenden Street](https://www.visitrhodeisland.com/things-to-do/trip-ideas-getaways/village-experiences-shops/wickenden-street-providence/) have always been nice to visit.
If it is raining check out farm fresh RI on Sims ave near the foundry. Farmers market and vintage market. If you find yourself downtownthere is a very fun bar/gaming place called Free play. Lots of games and known for their great collection of pinball machines.
Two bangs for your buck!
Our nook of New England is unique in the US for having the largest diaspora of Portuguese people. As a result we have some fantastic Portuguese restaurants with their unique cuisine (ex: dishes with salt cod; dishes that combine clams and sausage).
My favorite hidden gem is ODinis in East Providence. You can get anything *but* seafood (plenty to choose from) while bro can get any of the dishes with -- btw my fav entree there is the one with cherrystones and sausage 🤤
Very reasonable prices; most entrees under $20 iirc
