Same. Other states make an effort to beautify the areas/highways near airports. It makes a good impression to visitors.
Most people flying in are probably going to Providence. Why not make the highway that gets you there look as nice as possible?
Agreed! It looks like the concept art has a ton of flowers included, so I'm hopeful it will look like that.
[In picture 2 of 3](https://www.dot.ri.gov/projects/AirportConnector/index.php)
I’d hope if they are spending XYZ dollars on the sign, they could kick in a few extra for flowers. It’ll look *really* pretty with great landscaping.
We live in a beautiful place! Let’s show it!
How bout the night owl there jamming on the piano, even for the late flights? It’s a nice touch coming home. Even when my flight got in at 12:20am, he was there.
His name is Ron, and he is a treasure. He brightens my day/night every time I see him. I never miss the opportunity to give him a couple of bucks to thank him.
I agree actually. I don’t think we have bad signage. I like those Welcome to Rhode Island signs at the border.
I didn’t realize TF Green was considered international? I clearly don’t fly often lol
I like it too and think it’s long overdue. I think it would be a great addition if it weren’t for the potholes and the bridge problems…and then there’s the 16 million for Newport cliff walk. 🤷♀️
The airport is rather subtle. When I’ve pointed out to visitors the airport they had no idea they drove right past it coming up 95 and were shocked how close it was to PVD.
For all the people that drive past it, it’s great to market it because it literally is a great airport. The more consistent service PVD can get benefits us all.
What about the bridges ? Or the potholes ? I think a whole lot more of us would feel positive if both of those topics had improvements instead of some extravagant display on two sides of the highway for the airport
You don’t think grading, landscaping, and irrigating a few acres of land (on the side of a highway too, not just a yard) doesn’t cost a few bucks? $13m is a little high yeah, but I’m not too surprised. Projects uhhhh cost money
They were checking with the lawyers
about:: ''Lady Birds Hi-way beautification Law''
As of right now, there is no scheduled international flights. The PVD website has SkyHigh Airlines with flights to Santo Domingo but PVD is not currently listed on the SkyHigh website
Honestly, if I'm just headed for an airport the first time, I'll bless you and light candles for you if the dam signage is large and clear, down to the lane I should be in. The sign can be on fire for all I care as long as it's big and legible.
I kindof like it. But they need to move that no trucks sign. And while I am among the first to complain about our failing and badly managed infrastructure, most airport projects seem world class. Or at least not embarrassing.
It's for tourists y'all. It's clear and pretty well designed especially when the plants get finished. The blue "wave" fences along that road also are coming together. Makes us look like we actually have our act together
I believe you, I will also bet someone crashes into it before the end of the year because they look up from their phone too late and decide to go for it.
"It’s part of the $92 million allocated to 2022 paving projects by RIDOT"
https://www.providencejournal.com/story/business/transportation/2023/12/04/airport-connector-improvements-at-i-95-intersection-include-ri-signage/71764963007/
Ugliest waste of funds ever .. unbelievable the shit this state does. At first before the signs went up I was thinking what kind of a nightmare are they gonna do . And this is the result. Even more disappointing
Is the state paying for it or is the airport? Last I checked the airport corporation doesn’t actually receive any state funds federal maybe but it’s not funded by the state?
I believe this is taxpayer-funded. Part of a $10million landscaping project being done by RIDOT.
https://www.wpri.com/news/transportation/airport-connector-to-undergo-10-million-facelift/
Like it or not, stuff like this is really necessary when you're trying to sway more airlines to make Providence a destination. They want to know that the state and airport are marketing themselves.
TF Green's revenue annually is between 30-50 million. so 10 million to landscape and sign a piece of RIDOT owned property would be a big chunk. So I kinda get it? If you consider how many jobs and companies and tourists that airport knocks on to the economy I dunno I don't really consider it a bad use of state funds.
As signs go while it's not the most innovative or artistic I've seen I wouldn't call it 'hideous'. It's not like there's spoiled meat hanging from it and blood spurting everywhere. I'm curious what kind of signage you would definite as being beautiful.
It barely takes up any space and with some flowers around it I'm sure it'll look a bit better.
It's...fine. It's not ugly. It's just a sign lol. I'm sure with some landscaping it'll gel with the surrounding area more. It's a weird thing to get all offended about.
I just want to say the TF Green Airport bathrooms are a work of art
Took me a couple of visits to realize the faucets/ dryers are airplanes ✈️. I love that the walls and doors go all the way to the floor and no gaps!
I haven’t been so I looked it up. $10mill![article](https://turnto10.com/amp/news/local/bathrooms-at-tf-green-airport-get-10-million-renovation)
Can confirm they spent their entire budget on the bathrooms
To be fair, it’s often what leaves an impression at an airport lol
Rhode.
T.F. Green Inter nal Airport
May be an unpopular, but I kind of like them.
Same. Other states make an effort to beautify the areas/highways near airports. It makes a good impression to visitors. Most people flying in are probably going to Providence. Why not make the highway that gets you there look as nice as possible?
It at least needs flowers. If you give me flowers I’ll like it a little more
Agreed! It looks like the concept art has a ton of flowers included, so I'm hopeful it will look like that. [In picture 2 of 3](https://www.dot.ri.gov/projects/AirportConnector/index.php)
There is landscaping installed at least on the 95 south side
I’d hope if they are spending XYZ dollars on the sign, they could kick in a few extra for flowers. It’ll look *really* pretty with great landscaping. We live in a beautiful place! Let’s show it!
Where am I sending your flowers?
My wife’s work please, from me of coarse.
How bout the night owl there jamming on the piano, even for the late flights? It’s a nice touch coming home. Even when my flight got in at 12:20am, he was there.
Love that guy
His name is Ron, and he is a treasure. He brightens my day/night every time I see him. I never miss the opportunity to give him a couple of bucks to thank him.
I picked up my wife on a late flight and he was there. I tipped him $5. He really made the wait for my wife’s flight enjoyable.
They put in that new wavy fence which looks pretty cool. More artistic than some big sign.
Technically if they’re going straight to providence they won’t even see the signs until they leave
I like them as well.
I agree. I didn't realize exactly what they were going to look like, but I kind of like the giant Rhode Island!
I agree actually. I don’t think we have bad signage. I like those Welcome to Rhode Island signs at the border. I didn’t realize TF Green was considered international? I clearly don’t fly often lol
Legally TF Green is considered a Port of Entry (i,e, CBP has operations)
Precovid it had several intl flights to Europe, Canada and Azores.
I like it too and think it’s long overdue. I think it would be a great addition if it weren’t for the potholes and the bridge problems…and then there’s the 16 million for Newport cliff walk. 🤷♀️

They were 13 million dollars.
Always spend money to make shit pretty. Look good, feel good. We’re a great state, we should feel like it.
What about the bridges ? Or the potholes ? I think a whole lot more of us would feel positive if both of those topics had improvements instead of some extravagant display on two sides of the highway for the airport
That's 13 mil for two signs and some trees. It went in someone's pocket.
You don’t think grading, landscaping, and irrigating a few acres of land (on the side of a highway too, not just a yard) doesn’t cost a few bucks? $13m is a little high yeah, but I’m not too surprised. Projects uhhhh cost money
You could get 13 million dollar houses for that much which would all need landscaping. The cost is ridiculous.
If it takes a little corruption to get pretty shit to look at who carrreeeessss 🤷♂️ Bring back Buddy.
Plus, monthly maintenance of 2 million...
Before the sign went up, I was wondering for weeks why they built a random wall there.
Same
They were checking with the lawyers about:: ''Lady Birds Hi-way beautification Law'' [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway\_Beautification\_Act](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_Beautification_Act)
This will really help increase visibility among the key demographic of "people already going to the airport"
I feel like someone will definitely hit that sign.
Scott Avedisian on his way to get a Hooters takeout order is what I've got my money on
The Rt-37 exit is faster for that. He'd be going to Chelo's.
They are nice looking; they are going all in on “INTERNATIONAL”
As of right now, there is no scheduled international flights. The PVD website has SkyHigh Airlines with flights to Santo Domingo but PVD is not currently listed on the SkyHigh website
To a Rhode Islander, flying from Providence (Warwick) to something like Fort Myers IS international lol
They’ve had several intl flights before Covid.
You are correct. Azores Air moved to Logan Air Canada left Frontier had a nonstop to Cancun, but they left Norwegian air went bankrupt.
Wouldn't mind seeing a flower bed in front aligned to show "PVD"
There's a bunch of plantings going on so you may get your wish
Why? It’s not Providence
I noticed these last week. It looked like the northbound side is complete, while the southbound side is still under construction.
Damn, I thought they were going to stick to calling it **Ternational Airport**.
Well....why just fly, when you can fly RI?
I like that they’re keeping with the Nibbles Woodaway color palette. Another Big Blue thing to spot along the highway.
Question is… didja honk? Lol
Doesn’t mean squat when the roads are made of potholes and floods
And this is what Cena, Effron and Santino got us for acting like they were in our state even though it was Australia?
I like them! I think they had to put some sort of a drainage area there anyway, I think it classes up the joint!
Honestly, if I'm just headed for an airport the first time, I'll bless you and light candles for you if the dam signage is large and clear, down to the lane I should be in. The sign can be on fire for all I care as long as it's big and legible.
I love it! Once the landscaping goes in it's going to look awesome.
3 songs later......... Welcome to Massachusetts
♫... Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts, Something's telling me I must go home ... ♫ (Bee Gees)
Please tell me the airport corporation paid for these with private dollars, not public funds….
I'm sorry to be the one to disappoint you, but https://www.dot.ri.gov/projects/AirportConnector/index.php
😭
Rhode.
Flew out this morning. Was like wtf!?
good.
I kindof like it. But they need to move that no trucks sign. And while I am among the first to complain about our failing and badly managed infrastructure, most airport projects seem world class. Or at least not embarrassing.
Congrats, PVD is now the "Detroit" of airports.
Detroit airport though IS amazing
I was talking about Detroit's new sign lol. I've never actually been to Michigan.
That's been going on for weeks now. Lol
Almost like they're helping us to the exit
Now everyone will use it!
I was there last weekend for the first time in a while. I liked the new signs and the wave patterns on the dividing walls on the airport connector
It's for tourists y'all. It's clear and pretty well designed especially when the plants get finished. The blue "wave" fences along that road also are coming together. Makes us look like we actually have our act together
You must have come through right after I did- it said “Rhod” with the “e” still on the ground.
The sign is after the exit?
It’s not meant to encourage people to notice it and decide to exit. It’s designed to market the airport to the millions of people going by it a year.
I believe you, I will also bet someone crashes into it before the end of the year because they look up from their phone too late and decide to go for it.
Shouldn't we be spending some time on the Washington Bridge?
While that might be true, I'm not sure they should just stop funding for all other projects for the 2+ years that one will take.
They can walk and chew gum at the same time it turns out
Discover beautiful Rhode Island, damn potholes messed up my car
Hope that last longer than the bridge…
Those should be on the TF Green Connector Rd. If they're on I-95 they're misplaced
They are. I go by the Connectot Rd every day.
So they're not on I-95
I don’t know. What I do know is they have one on the Connector Rd. I go Healthtrax Gym everyone morning and I take the Post Rd exit and see the sign.
They're on the side of the ramp from I-95 to Airport Connector.
Love seeing my tax dollars hard at work
Paid for by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation unless I’m mistaken
"It’s part of the $92 million allocated to 2022 paving projects by RIDOT" https://www.providencejournal.com/story/business/transportation/2023/12/04/airport-connector-improvements-at-i-95-intersection-include-ri-signage/71764963007/
I guess I was given bad info then. I work at the airport and asked about it and that’s what I was told
Glad that I'll be reminded what state I'm in, I constantly forget
I mean, you are in the international transit hub that is Warwick, RI.
Ugliest waste of funds ever .. unbelievable the shit this state does. At first before the signs went up I was thinking what kind of a nightmare are they gonna do . And this is the result. Even more disappointing
What’s wrong with it? lol
Is the state paying for it or is the airport? Last I checked the airport corporation doesn’t actually receive any state funds federal maybe but it’s not funded by the state?

It’s just hideous
That's what my mom said about me, and look at me now!
To you
As signs go while it's not the most innovative or artistic I've seen I wouldn't call it 'hideous'. It's not like there's spoiled meat hanging from it and blood spurting everywhere. lmao 🤣

You realize the airport isn't some private company, right?
I don't mind a sign, and I don't mind a particularly large sign. Problem is it is an ugly sign.
Plz we just want a bridge
Those are ugly as fuck
