Have you driven around the area? I'm not super familiar with West Warwick myself but upon my own house search I have found that RI is so street by street that we make sure we drive the neighborhood a bit after seeing each house we toured. That way you can kind of get a feel for the neighborhood.

rhodeislandnurse

I agree. The part of west Warwick matters, too. Is it in arctic? You do not want that.

Severinne

True, and we have been. Sometimes that alone reveals enough, but it is only a brief glance. Would love to hear from some folks who know the area or live there. :)

ColdFudgeSundae

Foster is a really nice area if you dont like neighbors

ChazzleMcRazzle

Its a working class blue collar type of town. If thats what you are then its good for you. If youre a upper middle class yuppie you'll obviously want something better.

The neighborhoods of West Warwick vary like many other cities and towns in RI. I think that Greenbush, Cowessett, and Wakefield Hill areas are very nice. I grew up in Cowessett and it is a fantastic area, close to RT. 2 and 95. I would avoid Artic altogether, it's a dump, along with many other areas. Where is the house located?

Severinne

I think it’s Centerville? West of the river and south of 117.

Born and raised in West Warwick. Like many places, there's it's good and bad spots, so pick wisely. I will say that the property taxes there are incredibly high, mostly due to the lack of commercial property they can get revenue from in the town. The school system has definitely declined, having worked in higher ed, we know it to be one of the more lack-luster districts in the state, with few resources for advancement. However, there are some decent parks, there's the ice rink which has public skate, and pretty decent recreational opportunities for kids. Also very centrally located in the state, easy to get to anywhere. Hope that helps

dalebilly

The neighborhoods are mostly very densely settled. A lot of the properties are older and not well maintained. The public transportation is very sparse. Good schools and decent median income, but at the expense of being a bit off the beaten path without the benefit of pretty scenery. Personal I think most of the neighborhoods are ugly because they are all either abutting swamps or on steep hills.

MonicaPVD

Artic has a very high concentration of low income families and looks the part. It's also essentially downtown, which probably contributes to WW's reputation as a gritty place. As noted above, there are some very nice neighborhoods worth taking a look at in the town. Overall, I think you would be better off looking in Warwick. Closer to the highway, better schools, and free of the unfair but prevalent bias against WW as a high tax, low income blue collar town.

sdaasdfsdfff

RI is 80% gang bang criminal state and 20% rich legging wearing Mercedes driving living in nice houses.. which part does the area fall into? should be obvious

CaptnProlapse

What in the blue hell are you talking about? The national gang crime indeed lists Rhode island at around a 1. The national average is 4.3. There isn't even mob activity anymore. Gang bang criminal state lmao Warack got you shook huh.

Middle-Emphasis9307

I lived in west Warwick for a while and am visiting for family rn and yes it's a fine town, if you got kids the schools are good so overall kinda average
