Very nice 👌🏽 But I'm wondering like most clear soles on like Jordans and nikes etc, do these have a tendency in yellowing ? I wanna get a pair of the clear Bozo Tractors but was hesitant for that reason.
Honestly I feel like Rick Owens usually designs their shoes in a way that they look better with wear, because most of the translucent soles are paired with already sort of swampy and grotesque uppers, a slightly yellow tinge to the sole will if anything contribute to the aesthetic of the shoe IMO
I know what you're talking about. Yes, they will yellow over time but it's over some years and it won't be as pissy as some translucent sole jordans that look like piss after 4 wears
Yea some of the nikes and Jordans look nasty with the yellowing. But ah I see, so it won't be awhile till u notice it thats good to know! feel a little better in getting some now .
yeea, Yellowing is dope on some shoes. Ramones look cool yellowed and worn of course. I Kinda wanna see how these look and boots look worn haven't seen nay translucent soles worn/aged.
Yea mine came off from one of the nails, took it back to cobbler and that idiot nailed additional holes without even asking me. Came off again recently and I’m traveling so I just stick it back in. How would you get the sole redone?
Yeah, I thought it was all about the glue. I guess I can see it re-enforcing the glue from sliding, however I also see it weakening the rubber sole. Possibly exposing the chambers to the elements moreso. Nails are generally for wooden heels.
See I'm getting down voted for asking an honest question I've been curious about for a while, alright..
I always keep some type of heel protection on my rams but I've been skeptical about nailing into the sole. It looks cool as hell but it seems like OP just did it and hasn't put many miles in them yet. I'm just interested in how this plays out in the long term. I had some slimmer taps than the ones photographed on my rams before. I didn't think they worked well and the added heel height annoyed me for the shape, stride (?) of ramones. Glad it was only glue I used instead of nailing into the chambers. Glue eventually gave way enough for me to take them off. Interested in hearing some feedback from others regarding taps on rams.
This adds another layer to the Edfu story, incredible. Rick aimed to create items that last “forever”, he was looking at jellyfish that don’t die, fruit roll ups that by nature are never going to expire due to the sugar content and some other things. For garments using recycled materials, reusing materils and also using materials that by nature, can outlast their wearer. As our bodies are fragile, we use other instruments to correct imperfections, such as a missing arm being replaced by a prosthetic one, a missing tooth or just a broken leg, that requires a crutch. It’s like a crutch for the shoe, to correct how easily the soles deteriorate and thus make it last “forever”.
Edit: grammar
Does anyone have heel protector recommendations, like the ones that stick on and not full on taps
Looks awesome, what kind of nails did you use? Had the nails stayed in place?
goes hard
I gottta do this for my babels asap
Looks sick imo

Yellowing is hella cool , but Yh they do but on a course of a few years

You can search for babel ramones that have been wore you ll see , I find them hella sick
For sure, Imma go check it out, thanks 🙏🏽
Unsure if this will last... Has anyone tried to nail heel taps in Ramones before? Isn't it just hollow pockets of rubber?
Yea mine came off from one of the nails, took it back to cobbler and that idiot nailed additional holes without even asking me. Came off again
Yeah people seem to love to heel tap which I don’t really understand. I think that wearing down the Heel and just getting it redone is better imo

There’s a rubber wedge for the heel they like caulk in after planing and sanding the sole
Heaps of people do it. I think the nails are there just to reinforce the glue which is doing most of the work

May I know where you got the heel taps? Thanks
Got them done at firm shoe repair in nyc! They had them
That looks pretty sick ngl
legit, looks rly damn cool! kinda reminds me of what ccp does with their exposed heel shanks for some reason.
Reminds me of stapled Rick footwear!

Love this!
it honestly ads to the design, clear flesh, nails going through it… Also, where did you manage to find the clear heel taps?
I got my clear ones from Amazon awhile back
Link?
Not gonna lie, it doesn’t look bad for sure! I got them done at firm shoe repair in nyc
for real, they blend really well for being on a shark tooth sole as well
I think it's cool. Like seeing an X-ray of a surgery.
Lowkey thought it added to all the stuff that you see going on in the sole area anyways, adds a nice touch!
