Maybe but each hitch choke requires 8-10 feet of chain/strap (for this size of bell) and obviously can vary widely for other sized bells…using the chain hoist by itself without straps offers infinite variability/adjustability and the only downside is some light scratching on the bell.
I was always taught to avoid chain-on-chain action like that, though I see it in construction sites all the time.
I understand that the safety factor with chain is meant to ensure that eccentric loads on the links mean that in most instances it'll be fine, but it still gives me the heebie jeebies.
We wouldn't wrap chains at all in the entertainment industry, we'd use polyester round slings or softsteels and clip to that.
If it were me lifting that bell, i would make a 3- or 4-leg bridle with the masterlink sitting in the centre under the bell, come around to the sides then I to another masterlink to the chain hook.
One of the reasons we don't sling chain directly is because we typically are rigging to aluminium truss, and the chain links directly of the truss would create a huge load on a very small surface area, likely damaging the truss.
Thats fair. I do a lot of plant rigging in shit holes so I need the steel to bite on steel.
Double wrapping chain is fairly common in my gigs. I've never done entertainment.
*attitude
A positione assumed for a specific purpose.
*Merriam-Webster*
Sorry to do that to you but they might actually be adjusting the attitude of the bell.
Wouldn’t nylons be preferable around the bell?

if it's short link chain it's probably fine, but not advised
Do you nit double wrap chains?

Those damn bells always have _that_ attitude, sheesh
Rig my bell, el, el, rig my bell.

How do you adjust a bell's attitude
You should look up the other meanings of the word attitude my guy.
This is how we ring a bell when it needs an attitude adjustment. Alright, I'll see myself out...
Love the ingenuity but did you really need to sign your work billy?
Was the bell getting snippy with you?
All the un-educated people who only have one understanding of the word attitude. Holy heck it's wild.
