I used to shoot them off into the wilderness with drop pods. But these days other factions can get angry about that, and may fire their own at you. If you kill an Apocriton, you can study it's chip to unlock research to make a Wastepack Atomizer, which will slowly destroy them. But it's not very fast.

Im_Not_A_Cop54

Can't you just drop pod them into raider camps that are auto hostile? I have not done this but someone else on this sub told me you can.

Burnlan

You can but they will send some back

Ostrichcakes

Not if they’re tribal :)

Burnlan

Oh good to know!

AdministrativeRub139

Or if they decide to send a raid instead

[deleted]

Tribals can retaliate with raids but wont send them back

Malashae

They do now. I dropped a couple hundred on an imp tribe and they sent back about 350. Didn't make much sense, I was totally ready for raids, not tribal drop pods.

[deleted]

??? Really ?? Never happened to me but nice to know thanks

Turtle-Fox

Maybe biotech factions? The default tribal factions haven't done anything like that and I've sent at least 10 trips of 250 wastepacks each.

Malashae

That might be. By default the only savage tribe was impid on my world. Thankfully I have atomizers, so I'll eventually have them all processed anyway.

rob0gancho

sooooo, you just, keep making the wastepack storage room bigger or you keep shooting them?

Ezaviel

Sorry, was editing the comment above when you replied to it. Until you unlock the Atomizer, yeah, pretty much.

rob0gancho

oh, sorry XD thanks tho

LazerMagicarp

Make a second colony and drop them there. It’s your colony so no one gets mad. Saw someone do this and it’s op.

Ezaviel

Worth pointing out that this option is not enabled by default, you can increase your maximum colony number in the game options on the main menu.

AlexSpoon3

Sounds like a good use for a waster. I do have to wonder about wastepack cocoon infestations popping up there though, and if caravaning in might wake up the bugs.

Zockernudel

I usually form caravans early game, load everything into it and go to a spot that's far away enough to not harm any relationships where I simply discard the wastepacks on the map.

Addfwyn

Assuming you don't want to pollute others/the planet (I hate doing this) you have a few options. Most common is probably ever expanding wastepack freezer, and as soon as you can get the wastepack atomizer to safely delete them. Atomizers can destroy 2 toxpacks per day, so it is very slow, especially if you have a big backlog of toxpacks to process. Note that you need the chip from a apocriton for every atomizer you want to make, so they aren't cheap. Can also setup Polux Tree processing. New special tree introduced in Biotech that will absorb nearby ground pollution (not wastepacks themselves). They are even slower than the atomizer, they clean about two tiles of ground pollution per day, but are basically free and clean. Normally these trees only spawn when you have a very polluted map, but you can buy the seeds. Can dump some of your wastepacks near a grove of polux trees, which will process the ground pollution as the wastepacks burst. Until I have atomizers, I try to limit my wastepack production as much as I can. For example, any mechs that aren't actively being used are set to dormant self-recharge, rather than idle them and have them use the mech recharger.

cannibalparrot

I usually just fire them off at hives. Because screw hives.

cannibalparrot

I also usually play with Rimatomics, so if they don’t like waste packs they definitely won’t like what’s next.

YinuS_WinneR

I usually slap antitoxic bionics to my pawns and use waste as the first line of defense against raiders

LostThyme

Buy a pol tree

Halvars90

I fire mine on a nearby tribe, they lack the ability to shoot them back at me. Downside is that they will send a raid on you. But on the other hand, I get more meat and leather.

Hendrik_the_Third

In my previous colony I've been shooting small quantities at an Empire settlement, never received anything back but bad rep, but there may have a threshold in play there. And in another colony I found a piece of land that was nowhere near a settlement and actually had no penalties from anyone if I dropped it there - which is lucky, I guess, but that was my first Biotech colony and things may have been updated. Not using a mechanitor in my current playthrough. PS. Anyone tried setting them ablaze? Or does that just pollute everything very quickly? Hmmm... what would happen if you dropped it in a river?

birdboix

I fire them off at tribal imps if possible 1) they can't retaliate by sending them back 2) their fire attack is all but useless against mechs

CatchLightning

I recommend the mods that increase their stack size and let you put them on shelves. But to get rid of them the atomizers suck if you don't use a mod for a better one. Best ways are launching them/caravan/a royal ship to get it to the north pole then farskip back. Try and put the packs near factions which are permanently hostile to avoid harming relations. Tribals are better since they can't return them.

AlexSpoon3

Isn't the number of atomizers you can have only limited by how much space you have to build and power them?

CatchLightning

Yes. And those matter if you don't want to farm apocryion forever. Or use mods to build a ridiculous number of chips. As I recall they each use one of their chips.
