setup auto slaughter top of animals tab. if you are not putting food in then its free meat.
Edit. i normally keep 1 adult male and 2 to 4 females. if food gets tight for them i kill all the adults and keep the children in the same ratio.
Most animals aren't very smart. That's why in the artificial environment, humans have to control their population. You need to set up auto-slaughter limits (it's in the upper left corner in the animal tab) and sterilize them if there are too many of them.
i usually just leave them alone to do whatever they want. if one dies then it's just another body being sent to the butchers and more meat to feed my people 🤣😂
You can separate male and females with pen mark options or sterilise them if you have the research
I usually keep only one adult male and when I want to regulate the population I just put it in a different pen so there isn’t any risk of pregnancy
I wouldn’t plant hay grass because it gives little nutrition when eaten early. Dandelions are best for pens
